Minister Ponguleti hands over 592 homes to women as Raksha Bandhan gifts

Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy alleged that the BRS government looted the poor under the guise of the Double Bedroom Housing Scheme. He stated that for over six years, the BRS administration gave false hope to the poor, collected illegal payments from beneficiaries and failed to deliver homes. The Minister criticized that the same houses were showcased in two elections without being distributed and that the BRS tried to deceive the public once again, but voters responded decisively in the last elections. On Friday, Mr Reddy personally handed over the keys to 592 beneficiaries in the Hanamkonda Balasamudram area of Warangal district, marking housewarming ceremonies in their new double-bedroom homes. The event was held in the presence of MLAs Nayini Rajender Reddy and Nagaraju, Mayor Gundu Sudharani, and several others. The Minister remarked that it was a moment of joy to facilitate housewarming for 592 families on this auspicious Friday of the Sravana month and said that the homes were sanctioned in the names of women. He described it as a Raksha Bandhan gift for 592 sisters, delivered a day in advance. He reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the State government is progressing with a focus on welfare and development. He said that the selection of beneficiaries was done with utmost transparency and beyond political affiliations. He alleged that under the previous regime, houses were granted only to ruling party workers and a few government employees, while the poor were misled and subjected to exploitation. He accused BRS leaders of displaying model houses to extract money from the poor without giving them possession. Mr. Reddy further alleged that the Kaleshwaram Project was deliberately mishandled for commissions, and termed it a betrayal of the people of Telangana. He claimed that the corruption of the previous regime directly led to the collapse of the project and that thousands of crores ended up with KCR's family. He said that BRS leaders are attacking the current government only to protect their ill-gotten wealth.

BRS Gadwal In-Charge Basu Hanumanthu Naidu Slams Congress Over Kaleshwaram Report, Calls It a Political Vendetta

Gadwal: The Kaleshwaram Commission report is part of a politically motivated vendetta jointly carried out by the Congress and BJP parties, said Basu Hanumanthu Naidu, BRS Party in-charge for Gadwal constituency. He made these remarks after attending a live screening of the PowerPoint presentation delivered by former minister T. Harish Rao on the Kaleshwaram issue. The session was organized on Tuesday at the BRS District Office in Gadwal, where Basu Hanumanthu Naidu, along with party leaders and cadres, watched Harish Rao's presentation—broadcast from the Telangana Bhavan, Hyderabad—on an LED screen. The presentation addressed what the BRS party claims are false allegations made by the Congress government about corruption in the Kaleshwaram Project. Speaking on the occasion, Basu Hanumanthu Naidu stated that Harish Rao 'broke the lies into pieces' with factual clarity. He accused the Congress of proving the saying 'one lie leads to a thousand lies.' Referring to Congress' earlier claims of ₹1 lakh crore corruption in the Kaleshwaram project, he criticized them for fabricating new lies to back their initial baseless claims after coming into power. 'No matter how many commissions you set up, how many investigations you conduct, or how many hundreds of pages you publish in your reports, the BRS party is ready to face all of it,' he asserted. He added that what the Congress government failed to achieve in 60 years, KCR accomplished in just three years by completing the Kaleshwaram Project and bringing water to drought-hit fields. 'No amount of fake documentation can erase this truth,' he emphasized. The event saw participation from a large number of BRS leaders and supporters, including Nagar Doddi Venkata Ramulu, Chakradhar Rao, G. Raghavendra Reddy, Angadi Basavaraj, Patel Janardhan Reddy, Atukuri Rehman, Monesh, Kottapalli Venkateshwara Reddy, Beechupalli Kurava Palleiah, S. Ramu Naidu, Ganjipeta Raju, Venkatesh Naidu, Tower Mukbal, Mahadevappa, D. Shekhar Naidu, Rayapuram Veeresh, Govindu, Maddileti, Rajini Babu, Muni Mourya, Rolli Krishna, Kangaru Thimmappa, Abraham, Anji, Govardhan, Obulesh, Ramudu, Venkatesh, Thimmappa, Gonupadu Ramu, Nagaraju, Anjaneyulu, along with several party leaders, workers, youth members, and supporters.

Independent panel held KCR responsible for KLIS irregularities: Telangana Min Uttam

HYDERABAD: It's official now. The Commission of Inquiry on the Kaleshwaram Project, headed by retired Supreme Court Judge PC Ghose, has placed full responsibility on former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for the irregularities in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). While KCR was the sole decision-maker for Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages, he functioned as administrative executive, directed impounding of water at the barrages' peril, and is liable for irregularities and illegalities, the report says. The then irrigation minister T Harish Rao allowed KCR to fulfil his intentions and is thus also liable for the irregularities. The then finance minister Eatala Rajender was described as a tacit perpetrator who remained ignorant of financial implications and rules, it says. The Commission noted that Rajender lacked commitment and integrity in safeguarding state finances. The state Cabinet discussed the report on Monday. According to a PowerPoint presentation given by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy during the Cabinet meeting, the decision to construct the three barrages was made solely by KCR. The Commission observed that there was no formal government decision in this regard. The initial administrative approvals for the three barrages (GO Rt Nos. 231, 232 and 233, dated March 1, 2016) were not placed before or approved by the Cabinet, thus violating the government Business Rules. The Cabinet did not even ratify them. Works were awarded and started even before the detailed project report (DPR) by WAPCOS was finalised or vetted by the Central Water Commission (CWC). The CWC was still examining the project's cost estimate as late as May 2018, well after the administrative approvals were granted in March 2016. The Commission held that the manner in which the project was planned and executed caused a huge loss to the state exchequer.

Centre calls meeting of Telangana, Andhra CMs on river water disputes

Hyderabad: The Centre has called a meeting of the chief ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in Delhi on July 16 over river water sharing disputes. The Centre has invited Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart, N. Chandrababu Naidu, to meet in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil. The Union Minister has asked both the chief ministers to communicate their availability for the meeting. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is visiting Delhi on July 15 and 16. As per the itinerary, he is scheduled to meet C. R. Patil at 2.30 p.m. on July 16. Meanwhile, a statement from the Telangana Chief Minister's Office said a meeting is scheduled with the Union Jal Shakti Minister in Delhi on the 16th of this month, where Telangana will strongly pursue its water share, seek approvals for ongoing projects, push for allocations, and demand clearances for new projects. According to the statement, Revanth Reddy has decided to ensure the optimal utilisation of every drop of water due to the state from the Krishna and Godavari rivers and to intensify pressure on the Central Government to secure Telangana's rightful share of river waters through legal means. He has resolved to urge the Central Government to immediately grant clearances for projects in Telangana on the Krishna River, allocate Telangana's fair share of water, and provide financial assistance for the construction of these projects. Along with protecting Telangana's interests in the Krishna and Godavari waters, the Chief Minister has directed that long-standing injustices be addressed through permanent solutions. On the Chief Minister's instructions, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has written a letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil. Telangana has faced prolonged injustice in the utilisation of Krishna River waters. The previous government accepted a mere 299 TMCs for Telangana, while conceding 512 TMCs to Andhra Pradesh. It remained silent while Andhra Pradesh illegally constructed projects upstream of Srisailam, diverted Krishna waters at will, and encroached on Telangana's rightful share, said the statement. Irrigation projects constructed during the undivided state on the Krishna River were left incomplete, without proper water allocations. On the Godavari side, the Pranahita-Chevella project undertaken near Tummidihatti, after spending Rs 11,000 crore, was shelved. Instead, the Kaleshwaram Project was constructed, leading to the misuse of over Rs 1 lakh crore of public funds, it added.

Cabinet during BRS rule met 6 times, took decisions on Kaleshwaram Barrages: Harish Rao

HYDERABAD Senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Irrigation and Finance Minister T. Harish Rao said on Friday (July 11, 2025) that the Cabinet led by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had met six times and took decisions pertaining to the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla Barrages of the Kaleshwaram Project. Speaking after appearing before the Justice P.C. Ghose Commission of Inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the three barrages of the Kaleshwaram Project, Mr. Harish Rao said that he hand handed over additional information on the three barrages, following false news reports appearing in a section of the media. 'I have given clear and all information I have. Now that we are not in the government, all the documents are with it and I have written to the Chief Secretary, Secretaries of the General Administration and Irrigation Departments seeking the copies of Cabinet decisions taken during the BRS rule along with Cabinet notes, but there's no response', Mr. Harish Rao said and added that he had compiled all the information available with him and submitted to the Commission in the form of a note and supporting documents. He explained that the Cabinet had taken decisions six times on the three barrages and the decisions were also approved by the Assembly thrice. He had given the details about when the Cabinet had taken up the subject for discussion, notes on the discussion and other issues to the Commission. Mr. Rao said that the approval by the Legislature would hold more ground than the decisions of the Cabinet and he had furnished the details of discussions in the Legislature too. Since the Commission was continuing its inquiry, Mr. Harish Rao said he was not in a position to reveal all the details that were submitted to the panel, and they would be revealed at an appropriate time. . 'We have suspicion that the government was giving misleading information to the Commission on the issue', the BRS leader added. On the presentation made by the government to the Cabinet, legislators, members of parliament and leaders of the ruling party the other day, Mr. Harish Rao said the presentation was made to cover up Congress's betrayal of people of Telangana for over 50 years in the combined State. He alleged that the Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister were repeatedly misleading people on the ad hoc arrangement of 299:512 (Andhra Pradesh:Telangana) tmc ft sharing as the permanent one.
