NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Check out community events around New Mexico from June 6 to 12. June 6 ABQ Artwalk – This is the launch of the summer season, featuring a series of new art exhibits, markets, and brand-new venues. This event is from 5 to 9 p.m. June 7 Albuquerque Pride Parade – PRIDEFEST 2025 presents the annual Pride Parade, with the theme Empower, Unite, Fight, Thrive. The parade starts at 10 a.m., starting at Central and Girard and heading east to Central and San Mateo. June 7 Evening in Paradise – This free event at Paradise Hills Park includes food, music, a movie, and more. The event starts at 4 p.m. June 7 Downtown Growers' Market – Visit Albuquerque's longest-running farmers' market for the largest selection of local farmers providing fresh produce, eggs, honey, meats, local goods, hot prepared foods on-site, and handmade art, crafts, and body care products. Every Saturday from April to mid-November, enjoy live music starting at 10 a.m. June 7 2025 Race Amity Festival – The Race Amity Project of New Mexico is a local grassroots organization with a goal to heal racism through friendship, collaboration, and education. The center is now leasing multiple spaces to organizations specializing in social services. 🔶 New resolution looks to add more properties to Nob Hill redevelopment project – There's a new push to give property owners more help fixing up empty lots and rundown buildings on one of the city's busiest boulevards, off of Central Ave. 🔶 Staying safe near arroyos during New Mexico's monsoon season – Arroyos are a natural drainage system commonly found throughout the southwest, including here in Albuquerque. They move water from where people are living and deliver that water to the river. Though they serve a vital function, residents are encouraged to be cautious of Albuquerque's arroyos, on dry and damp days alike. 🔶 Black mold, asbestos removal from pump house closes Paradise Hills Pool – A public pool in Bernalillo County is closing for about a week as black mold and asbestos are removed from the facility's pump house, according to BernCo. Paradise Hills Pool will close on Wednesday, June 4, and is anticipated to re-open around Wednesday, June 11. 🔶 Albuquerque health and social service centers offer additional summer support – Health and social service centers in Albuquerque are offering extra support for families this summer. The centers are providing food boxes and rental assistance, among other services. 🔶 The National Guard Is Deploying In Albuquerque – The National Guard is deploying in Albuquerque, aiming to help tackle the city's crime problem by freeing up more police officers. New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham declared an emergency through an Executive Order in April, after receiving a letter from Albuquerque's Police Chief, who requested additional resources to combat what he described as a crime problem that 'continues to be an emergency' in the city. 🔶 Albuquerque community helps band recover stolen trailer – The show will go on for a band traveling through Albuquerque who had their trailer, full of equipment and merchandise, stolen. But the power of social media and the Albuquerque community helped them get it back. 🔶 Albuquerque city councilors pass ordinance regulating hemp products – On Monday, Albuquerque city councilors passed an ordinance that would bring more oversight to the sale of hemp products. KRQE News 13's Larry Barker first exposed the problem of cannabis products being identified as hemp, allowing them to be sold anywhere, including convenience stores and gas stations. 🔶 Albuquerque city councilors approve nearly $2M for affordable housing development – More funding is now on its way to an affordable housing development in Albuquerque's North Valley. Last year, the 'Teacher Loan Repayment Program' helped over 800 teachers. This year, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham backed a $5 million funding increase for the program. 🔶 Extra SNAP benefits heading to New Mexican seniors in June – New Mexicans over age 60 and adults with disabilities who are enrolled in SNAP will receive additional funds to help buy groceries this month. 🔶 New affordable senior housing complex opens in Rio Rancho – A new affordable senior housing complex opened in Rio Rancho on Tuesday. 🔶 UNM creates mental health response team to answer calls in Sandoval County – Albuquerque's earned national attention for sending social workers instead of police to non-emergency situations. Now, a similar effort is emerging in Rio Rancho, sending health experts to some mental crisis calls. 🔶 Measles case reported in San Juan County – The New Mexico Department of Health confirmed a measles case in San Juan County. They say it is a child under the age of four with one dose of the vaccine who contracted the virus on a domestic flight. Even though the child got the virus outside the county, people may have been exposed at the San Juan Regional Medical Center emergency room on May 26 at 10:30 a.m. or May 27 at 4:15 a.m. Exposure may have occurred at the medical center's Health Partners Pediatrics Clinic last week from 8:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday. 🔶 Researcher explains why earthquakes are rattling parts of New Mexico – While you may think earthquakes are a rarity in New Mexico, think again. Dr. Urbi Basu, manager of the New Mexico Tech Seismological Observatory, said earthquakes regularly happen in the state. 🔶 Mexican gray wolf Asha gives birth to litter of pups – Asha, a Mexican gray wolf caught wandering around New Mexico in 2023, gave birth to her first litter in mid-May, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced. 🔶 Poll: What are the best summer activities in New Mexico? – School's out for the summer. March 14-15 The Show – Albuquerque's longest-running comedy show happens every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12. March 14-16 Rio Grande Spring Fest – This event will bring together over 150 talented artists and makers, showcasing a curated selection of handcrafted works, fine art, home décor, specialty food, live music, and fun for the whole family. March 15 DGM Winter Market – The Downtown Growers' Market brings together the best of the community's local growers, artisans, wellness creators, and food vendors. Shoppers will find an array of winter delights, from fresh local honey and farm-fresh eggs to winter vegetables and handcrafted goods. The market is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 15 St. Patrick's Day Vendor Market – Join Hollow Spirits New Mexico for a fun-filled day of local shopping, community vibes, and festive cheer. This event is from 12 to 5 p.m. March 15 Youth Job Fair – The free event, hosted in partnership with the New Mexico Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is open to high school students and young adults looking for part-time, summer, or entry-level job opportunities. The fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center. March 15-16 Expo New Mexico Flea Market – Come check out the food, vendors, and live entertainment at New Mexico's largest open-air market. The market runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $2 for walk-ups and $10 per car for parking. March 17-21 CABQ Spring Break Activities – Community centers in Albuquerque are hosting several events for kids on spring break. This event is every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. March 20 Ancora and Albuquerque Songwriters' Cooperative Open Mic – Every Thursday night is Open Mic at Ancora Cafe and Bakery where music and sound is the focus of the evening. The event is from 5:30 to 9 p.m. March 14-16 Inkers Tattoo Expo – With vendor booths, an Ink Master artist, and other top artists from all over the U.S., the Carlsbad Civic Center will be hosting a great show all weekend. March 15 Spring Gardening Workshop – Join Las Cruces Public Libraries and learn about seed saving, why it's so important, and how to save seeds for future use. From 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., there will be activities for all ages. March 15 Officer Justin Hare 5K Run/Walk – New Mexico State Police will honor an officer killed in the line of duty with a memorial run in Tucumcari. Registration will be held from 8 to 9:45 a.m. with the run/walk starting at 10 a.m. March 15 Otero County Farmer's Market – Check out the only year-round farmers market in the area with many local farmers, crafters, bakers, and more exclusively from Otero County. This event occurs every Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. March 15 Coronado Historic Site Cleanup – Volunteers are needed to help with a site cleanup in the bosque at Coronado Historic Site in Bernalillo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tasks will include weeding, debris removal, basic trail maintenance, and other tasks as needed. Volunteers can drop in at any time during the day to assist. Lunch, snacks, and bottled water will be provided for all volunteers. March 15-16 Spring Arts & Crafts Show – Visit the Clovis Civic Center for a spring arts and crafts show. The Saturday event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Sunday event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. March 15-16 Yucca Blossom Trade Days Shamrock Showcase – Enjoy a weekend of shopping with a variety of unique vendors at the Ruidoso Convention Center. The event is free, but donations are accepted at the door to help a local family in need. The showcase runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. March 16 Truth or Consequences: The LIVE! Game Show – From 1 to 3 p.m., put your trivia skills to the test and face some fun consequences while competing for cash prizes and Fiesta memorabilia.
