Drake Bell claims Nickelodeon doesn't pay residuals to former child stars
Drake Bell has blasted Nickelodeon for allegedly not paying residuals to child stars. The 39-year-old actor and musician - who appeared on shows like The Amanda Show and spinoff sitcom Drake and Josh for the network - has claimed that unlike of the deals reached with most adults performers, his early contacts involved one-off payments, which means he doesn't get any money from streaming or syndication. He told The Unplanned Podcast: "That's the perception of the world, it's always been this way. "It's like, you know, 'Oh, you made a Folgers Coffee commercial. You must live in a mansion in Hollywood. Like, I saw you on TV. You're rich.' 'That's far from the case. And especially, which is the bummer for most of us on Nickelodeon, we don't get residuals for our shows.' The star - who previously opened up about his childhood trauma and struggles in 2024 docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV - pointed out how he doesn't get any money despite Drake and Josh's recent move to Netflix. He claimed: "It's a lot of evil, corrupt people. That's the only thing, that is the answer. There's no other answer. 'Do everything that they do to us mentally and emotionally, and then throw us to the wolves. And we're like, okay, cool. I got rent this month. "There are three channels doing marathons. Netflix just bought it, it's top 10 on Netflix, and I gotta figure out how to pay my rent this month." He pointed out how the cast of Friends are still able to earn huge amounts of money from re-runs of the classic sitcom. He said: 'The Friends cast at the peak was making a million dollars an episode. You make 13 episodes that year, you make $13,000,000. You make 20 episodes that year, you make $20,000,000, right? 'But right now, each cast member of Friends just in syndication alone is making over $20,000,000 a year, and they're not filming a show every week. "They're not going to work, but they're playing their show and they're using their likeness and they're doing all this, so they get paid for it.' He compared the studio's approach to the situation to "child labour", while addressing the lack of control young performers have. He added: 'People don't understand how the business works, the business side of this. They just see what the perception is on Instagram and social media and all the glitz and the glamour of Hollywood. 'We're putting in all of this work. This corporation is making billions with a 'B' off of us, and we're being compensated for the week of work, cool, but that's it. 'And forever, in perpetuity, it literally says in the contract, across universes and galaxies and planets.'

The wildly entertaining team known for viral stunts — like batters fishing on stilts, catchers on beanbags, umpires showing off surprisingly impressive dance moves — upped the ante this summer and invited 2000s emo mainstays All-American Rejects to perform an in-game concert at Fenway Park. Lead singer Tyson Ritter worked his way from the packed stands to the field to deliver abridged versions of their hits 'Move Along,' 'Dirty Little Secret' and 'Gives You Hell' while the Bananas danced and clapped in the background. '[Banana ball] takes everything dull or overly subtle about baseball and smashes it underfoot, while dancing to a pop song,' The Post shared in a gleeful op-ed. Other fun bits they've pulled off these past few months include a hoppy suitcase race, lip-synced walks to the plate, choreographed 'Drake and Josh' dances and an on-field appearance by the endlessly catchy Fitz and the Tantrums (seriously, check their Instagram Reels and you won't be able to leave the page for hours). What other tricks does the rule-breaking, fun-loving club have up their sleeve later this summer? About the Savannah Bananas After forming in 2016, the 'exhibition barnstorming baseball team' made a name for themselves by embracing 'exhibition' and 'barnstorming' while halfway ditching 'baseball.' The team now plays banana ball which has quirky rules like fan-caught foul balls counting as outs, games not being allowed to exceed two hours in length and batters stealing first base. The beloved actor has indeed become a father, yet again, for the third time. Along with his wife, Paige O'Brien Peck, the 'Drake and Josh' star welcomed baby boy Meyer Lane into the world. The actor welcomed his third child with his wife, Paige O'Brien Peck. The two have decided to name the child Meyer Lane, as shared on Paige's social media post. She shared two photos of the new baby, one all wrapped up in an adorable baby blanket, while the other one featured their son in a blue and white onesie. The sweet update was shared online on her account along with the caption "Meyer Lane, we love you, we love you." Well wishes pour in Celebrities and fans alike started sharing their blessings with the happy couple online as soon as the photos were posted. Ben Soffer, who hosts a podcast series with Peck, commented on the photo, saying, "SUCH A CUTIE'. Josh Peck says it was an ‘honor' to appear on ‘The Last of Us' in surprise cameo
Josh Peck appeared on Sunday's episode of 'The Last of Us,' a surprise cameo the former Nickelodeon star says he was honored to do. Peck's cameo on the HBO drama came at the very start of the fourth episode of Season 2 and even though his character died just moments into the episode, Peck wrote on his Instagram page Sunday that it was 'a tough secret to keep.' 'It was an honor to play a small part in one of my favorite shows, with one of my favorite actors ever,' he added. The 'Drake and Josh' star also posted a carousel of photos from set, including a shot posing with actor Jeffrey Wright while the two are in costume. Peck played a FEDRA soldier who told an inappropriate story to his fellow soldiers in a flashback scene before he and his crew are killed when their tank explodes. The episode also marked the first time that Wright – who voiced the character of Isaac in the video game on which the series is based, a role he is reprising on screen – appeared this season. Isaac is the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group. Kate Herron, who directed the episode, told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Monday that it was 'so fun' to secretly cast Peck for the part. 'We had people read [for the part], obviously. Josh's read came in, and Josh is fantastic. We were like, 'We need to get Josh,'' she said. 'I love the idea we get to Drew Barrymore him in 'Scream.' People just wouldn't see it coming.' The fifth episode of 'The Last of Us' will air on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO, with the episode available to stream on Max. (HBO and Max, like CNN, are owned by the same parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.)
