'I tried Fox's new pistachio flavour biscuits - there's one thing you need to know'

Dubai chocolate is still viral online, and the latest brand to join the hype is Fox's with their brand new Dubai-style chocolate biscuits and Mirror writer Niamh Kirk decided to try them out Fox's biscuits is the latest brand to jump on the pistachio hype as they launched their brand new 'Dubai Style' pistachio biscuits - but they have divided the internet. ‌ It seems pretty much everywhere you turn, there is some sort of pistachio flavoured food on the market all thanks to the viral 'Dubai Chocolate' bar. ‌ The brand behind the beloved Party Rings, Jammie Dodgers and Wagon Wheels have entered the Dubai Chocolate phenomenon, and as a true pistachio lover myself, I took up the seriously hard job of trying them for myself. ‌ Fox's Fabulous Chocolatey is bringing the luxury of the Middle East straight to the biscuit shelves and I couldn't be more excited. The Summer I Turned Pretty has major twist and fans are on the edge of their seats While they sound delicious with a "melt-in-the-mouth" pistachio filling, people have been divided over the might biscuits that are now available in stores due to being £3 a pack. While it is steep, the Dubai chocolate craze doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. ‌ The first thing I noticed was the size, they really aren't very big at all, but once I broke it in half it was absolutely crammed with soft chocolate and pistachio, so they definitely didn't scrimp on the filling. I can see why people aren't impressed with the price though as they aren't the biggest for your money. Excited to try, I bit into the biscuit and instantly had the soft melting chocolate cream which was tasty, it was very chocolatey but I didn't quite get the true pistachio flavour I was expecting. It gave a salty aftertaste, and a hint of nuttiness, but I can't say it was pistachio. ‌ For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. I think these would be great for those who are just starting out with pistachio flavouring and are wanting to try pistachio flavoured foods without being overwhelmed as it's a very mild flavouring. ‌ While there is only the slightest hint of pistachio that gives a slight salty aftertaste, it is still delicious. Each biscuit features a buttery cocoa shortcake base, filled with smooth pistachio cream. It's layered with a fine crumbled biscuit for a knafeh-inspired crunch and coated in velvety milk chocolate. It's finished with a dark chocolate drizzle to perfectly balance each bite - it's definitely a treat and I could most likely devour a whole pack with a cup of tea.

I tried lots of expensive Dubai chocolates – but this £4 bar beat them all

Whether you've seen the videos all over social media, noticed cleared-out shelves in the supermarket, or spotted pistachio flavours all over the dessert menu at your favourite restaurants, chances are that you've heard about the Dubai-style chocolate craze. We have Dubai-based Fix Chocolatier to thank for the surging popularity of pistachio. Although the Emirati chocolatiers launched their popular chocolate bar, 'can't get knafeh of it', back in 2022, news of its indulgent, must-try flavour has travelled across the world this year, and demand is only growing. Currently, the phrase Dubai chocolate has surpassed 120 million views on TikTok, creating a taste for pistachio across the world. The original bar, which cost $18, combines the gorgeous flavours of pistachio, chocolate and tahini with filo pastry, taking inspiration from the Middle Eastern dessert knafeh. This popular sweet treat is made with spun dubai pastry dough layered with cheese, soaked in a sweet, sugary syrup and finished with crushed pistachios. While fans of Fix Chocolatier's Dubai chocolate may say that nothing quite measures up to the original, it's only on sale in Dubai. Even there, demand is limited; the original bars are only available for a few hours each day before selling out. To satisfy a global craving, Dubai-style chocolate products can now be found in supermarkets, chocolate shops, cafes and markets. There's M&S's viral big daddy pistachio bar, and The Ivy restaurant collection has even launched a new pistachio take on their famous chocolate bombe dessert. But that supply still isn't meeting demand. Waitrose had to limit customer purchases of the Lindt Dubai-style chocolate, there have been multiple restocks of M&S's chocolate, and we've even seen international nut shortages. Dubai-style chocolate is famously expensive, with its ingredients all coming with a premium price tag. There are also a handful of imported Dubai chocolates which do not meet Food Standards Agency requirements. On top of all of that, it's a fad. Much like the Labubu bag charm craze, there is a lot of marketing trying to sell people on this viral chocolate. In a bid to bring you honest, side-by-side takes, I tried the best Dubai-style chocolate goodies on the market (I know, it's a hard job). Here's everything you need to know. How I tested Lucky for me, I'm a self-proclaimed chocoholic, so eating a lot of chocolate in the name of good journalism wasn't an issue. I love nutty flavours, and had tried many pistachio-flavoured chocolates before conducting this review. After covering Godiva's Dubai chocolate bar, I already knew that great pistachio flavour is mildly sweet, creamy and buttery, with an earthiness, and sometimes saltiness, to it. But, for this particular test, I was looking for products that incorporate that additional crisp and crunch that Dubai-style chocolate is famous for, along with silky and smooth chocolate. To assess each product's worth, I considered the size, quality of ingredients, and, of course, the taste. The best Dubai-style chocolates for 2025 are:

Chocolate lovers rush to Aldi as supermarket launches £3.99 dupe of viral ‘Dubai chocolate'

CHOCOLATE fans are dashing to Aldi as the budget supermarket unveils a £3.99 version of the viral 'Dubai-style' chocolate bar. Now available in Aldi stores across the UK, the 100g bar promises a rich and indulgent experience—without the luxury price tag. The treat features creamy pistachio layers and crunchy kadayif pastry, all wrapped in silky milk chocolate. Inspired by a viral hit that exploded on social media, the chocolate has already caused a stir online. AldiUK teased the launch on Facebook, writing: 'THIS IS NOT A DRILL. The Dubai Style Chocolate Bar lands in store tomorrow! Will you be picking one up.' Fans flooded the comments with excitement. One wrote: 'More temptation.' Another added: 'You knocked it out of the park with this. Absolutely amazing.' A third asked: 'Hey dear Aldi, are these a special or permanent fixture? Xx' The chocolate is part of Aldi's Specialbuys range, meaning once it's sold out, it may not return. With no buying limit, shoppers are expected to stock up quickly. This isn't the first time retailers have tried to cash in on the Dubai chocolate craze. Lidl's JD Gross version flew off shelves, and Waitrose offers a similar pistachio white chocolate bar for £2.75. Morrisons stocks its own version—Bolci Dubai Chocolate—for £5. The trend shows no signs of slowing down, as chocolate lovers continue to seek out these premium-style treats at lower prices. If you're keen to try one, it's worth getting to your local Aldi early to avoid disappointment. As word spreads, demand is expected to spike. To get the best deal, savvy shoppers are encouraged to compare prices using online tools like PriceSpy, Google Shopping, or Idealo. These platforms let you check price histories and spot deals across retailers. SAVE MONEY AT ALDI Grabbing hot Specialbuys like this chocolate bar is just one way to save at Aldi. The discount chain frequently tops Which? rankings for the cheapest supermarket, offering consistent value for everyday essentials. In April, a typical basket of 79 items cost an average of £135.95 at Aldi—cheaper than rivals including Lidl and Tesco. Bargain hunters should also keep an eye out for Aldi's red sticker items, usually marked down in the morning. These offer major discounts on products close to their sell-by date or with minor packaging damage. Aldi's budget-friendly alcohol selection is another way to save, with own-brand options often coming in much cheaper than big-name labels. Don't forget about Too Good To Go 'Surprise Bags', available in selected stores. These offer a low-cost mix of near-date groceries that would otherwise go to waste. How to save money on chocolate We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar. Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs... Go own brand - if you're not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you'll save by going for the supermarket's own brand bars. Shop around - if you've spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it's cheaper elsewhere. Websites like let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you're getting the best deal. Look out for yellow stickers - supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they've been reduced. They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged. Buy bigger bars - most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar. So if you've got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger. 2

That means you can slather it on toast, pile it onto pancakes, dip fruit in it or even spoon it from the jar. The sweet and salty pots cost £4.99 or £3.99 for Lidl Plus members, which is far more expensive than the store's other chocolate spreads. However, the price tag is not deterring customers, and the shop has implemented a strict three-jar-only policy. One shared a snap of the toast topping on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group. Followers flocked to the comment section to tag friends and family in the post. Lidl has said it will be available "while stocks last" - so you may want to get in quick. When Lidl launched its Dubai-style chocolate bar back in March, shoppers were queuing outside shops to get a taste. The Sun spotted a queue outside the Gosport, Hampshire, store at 8am with shoppers eagerly waiting for the doors to open. Chocolate fans have been going crazy for supermarket dupes of the expensive Dubai chocolate bars and they've been going viral on social media. Lidl's version was the cheapest when it was brought out at £3.99. Foodies race to buy new Dubai chocolate Easter egg in popular supermarket - the 'filling is crazy' and it's selling FAST Before it arrived in stores, the chocolate bar had been available on Lidl's TikTok Shop. It wasn't around for long though as it sold out in a mere 84 minutes. Numerous supermarkets and bargain stores have been jumping on the Dubai-style chocolate trend. One of the most-anticipated was the M&S version, which it turned out was a new take on the viral Big Daddy chocolate bar. The Big Daddy Pistachio is on the pricier end, costing £8.50 for a big 280g bar. Similarly posh supermarket Waitrose also released a version for £10. Despite the price, it was so popular the retailer had to impose a two-bar limit on shoppers. Sainsbury's started selling a Lindt version of the Dubai-style chocolate for £10. Iceland is selling two different bars: the Nelino Dubai-Style Chocolate (£2 for 62g) and Bolci Dubai Chocolate (£5 for 100g). Bolci's Turkish-made treat is also available at Morrisons. Meanwhile Home Bargains is selling Dubai Chocolate Cookies for the bargain price of £1.25.
