Eagles announce 3-time Pro Bowler will be inducted into franchise Hall of Fame

The post Eagles announce 3-time Pro Bowler will be inducted into franchise Hall of Fame appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Philadelphia Eagles will be inducting three-time Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins into the franchise's Hall of Fame. As the defending champions, the Eagles will celebrate their 2024 championship during their home opener and celebrate Jenkins' induction, which will take place during their Week 13 matchup against the Chicago Bears on November 28. The Eagles announced Jenkins' induction to their Hall of Fame, per The Athletic's Zach Betman. 'Malcolm Jenkins will be inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame this season, the team announced,' Betman reported. Jenkins joins 49 players who have been inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame. He finished with 406 tackles and 11 interceptions in six seasons with the Eagles. After spending his first five seasons with the New Orleans Saints, Jenkins joined Philadelphia in 2014, where he spent his prime years and was named to three Pro Bowl teams. He helped the Eagles win two Super Bowl victories in 2009 and 2017. Jason Kelce drops humble admission on Eagles Hall of Fame Eagles center Jason Kelce put a bow on his NFL career in 2023. As the five-time Pro Bowler who helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl title in 2017, Kelce talked about the NFL Hall of Fame and the likelihood of being honored sometime soon. Kelce humbly addressed the Hall of Fame, per the Exciting Mics podcast with Eagles running backs Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship. 'It will be weird to be honest with you. And I think it's weird because I don't even think I'm the best player that I've played with in the NFL,' Kelce said. 'Even on the offensive line. Jason Peters, Lane Johnson, Brandon Brooks, they're all better players than I ever was.' Kelce couldn't envision himself on the same level as some of his teammates during his time with the Eagles. 'I think I was very good at Center, but I was a scheme specific guy. And when I think of Hall of Fame players, I think of people that, this is a guy that was so good that no matter what team, who he played with, wherever he was at he was going to be one of the best players of all-time. And I just don't think that was the case for me,' said Kelce. Kelce was a seven-time Pro-Bowler who spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles. He was named to five consecutive Pro Bowls before retiring in 2024 at 36, one season before the Eagles captured their fifth Super Bowl title. Malcolm Jenkins to be inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame

The Eagles invited former Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins to the team's joint practice with the Browns on Wednesday and broke the news that he'd be in the Hall of Fame Super Bowl LII Champ. Three-time Pro Bowler. Welcome to the Eagles Hall of Fame, @MalcolmJenkins.@EdwardsLifesci | #FlyEaglesFly Malcolm Jenkins is an Eagle through and through, and he'll be remembered forever after the organization announced that he'd be inducted into the Ring of Honor. The team initially invited the former Pro Bowl safety to the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday as a photographer to capture the on-field action, a hobby that he has started since retiring from the NFL in 2022. Following practice, Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie invited Jenkins into the NovaCare Complex to personally share that he'll be a member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame Class of 2025, along with the late Bucko Kilroy. Jenkins and Kilroy will be inducted during the November 28 game against the Chicago Bears. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said this about the announcement: "Malcolm and Bucko are most deserving of our team's highest honor, having played integral roles on the 1948, 1949, and 2017 championship-winning teams," Lurie said in a statement. "Along with seven of his teammates, Bucko is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's All-Decade Team of the 1940s – an era in which he helped lead the franchise to back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948 and 1949. "A captain on our first Super Bowl-winning team in 2017, Malcolm was a tenacious player who was beloved by his teammates and coaches for the thoughtful leadership and veteran presence he provided. We proudly congratulate both men, along with their families, and look forward to officially inducting them into the Eagles Hall of Fame in November." An authentic Swiss Army Knife, Jenkins started all 96 regular-season games in his six seasons in Philadelphia. In five of those six seasons, Jenkins played 99 percent of the defensive snaps. Jenkins logged 100 or more stops in each of his six seasons, along with 5.5 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. Jenkins will finish his career with 11 interceptions and 77 pass breakups.

Saquon Barkley will try to reverse the Madden cover curse on NFL running backs

Saquon Barkley will try to reverse the Madden cover curse on NFL running backs Saquon Barkley has landed the cover of Madden NFL 26, and he'll look to avoid the curse that plagued Barry Sanders, Christian McCaffrey, Peyton Hillis, and Shaun Alexander before him. Saquon Barkley's whirlwind off-season continues, and the Eagles star has earned another prestigious honor. EA Sports announced on Monday morning that Saquon Barkley has landed the cover of Madden NFL 26, and he'll look to avoid the curse that plagued Barry Sanders, Christian McCaffrey, Peyton Hillis, and Shaun Alexander before him. The honor comes after Barkley rushed for a franchise-record 2,005 yards in the regular season, becoming just the ninth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 yards in a single season. It's the second time that an Eagles player has been pictured on the cover, joining Eagles Hall of Fame quarterback Donovan McNabb, who graced the front of the 2006 edition. Barkley will now enter the 2025 season looking to reverse a Madden Curse that's plagued four recipients before him. San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey, who was on the cover of Madden 25, missed the remainder of the 2024 season after suffering a PCL injury in their Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills. McCaffrey appeared in four games before that due to an Achilles injury. After rushing for over 2,000 yards and winning NFL MVP in 2012, Adrian Peterson declined in 2013, running for just 1,266 yards over 14 games that season. After winning a fan vote to be featured on the cover of the game, Browns running back Payton Hillis only appeared in 10 games in 2011 due to injury and only averaged 3.6 yards per carry when he was on the field. In 2007, after rushing for over 1,000 yards in five straight seasons, the 2005 NFL MVP Shaun Alexander rushed for 896 yards over 10 games in 2006 due to a broken foot and was out of the NFL two years later. In 2003, after recording five straight 1,000-yard seasons, the star Rams running back Marshall Faulk only started 10 games in 2002 and never reached the 1,000-yard mark again for the rest of his career. The game will be available in stores on August 14, and EA Sports is offering a bundle package that includes Madden 26 and College Football 26. Bills star and NFL MVP Josh Allen landed the cover in 2024, while the great John Madden reclaimed his cover in 2023 following his passing. In 2022, Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes shared the cover.
