Miley Cyrus reveals why she felt 'really well prepared' for fame when she was cast as Hannah Montana
Miley Cyrus felt "really well prepared" for fame. The 32-year-old pop star found major success in her teenage years when she was cast in the title role of the Disney Channel sitcom 'Hannah Montana', but as the daughter of 'Achy Breaky Heart' hitmaker Billy Ray Cyrus and goddaughter of country legend Dolly Parton, she insisted that she has always had an "understanding" of the how the business of celebrity works in a way that perhaps someone else would not. Speaking on The New York Times 'The Interview' podcast, she explained: "I've known fame since the moment I was born, I've never known anything else so I was really well prepared in a way that really hard to train yourself to know what to expect on everything that fame can bring. "But I already had the handbook because they did the same thing to my dad, and to Dolly and to everyone around me. Dolly is a great example of that, so I felt know what I think it is? I understand the business I'm in. I am in the music industry, I'm in the record business. "When I sign a contract, they're buying records that they wish to sell, so I understand that I am setting myself up to become merchandise. "I am committing to them that I not only want to bring success to myself, but to them also. So I understand the music industry." The 'Easy Lover' songstress - who has just released her ninth studio album 'Something Beautiful' - only received her first Grammy Award in 2024 for her hit song 'Flowers' and had spent years wondering what she had to do to get that sort of recognition but, prior to her win, had decided that the "validation" she craved came from her millions of fans around the globe instead. She said: "There were other Disney artists who dominated in those categories. I don't know who else before that, but there was The Jonas Brothers. It was boys, so they didn't have a character to shed, but because I wore a wig and I was a pop star...I remember being broken-hearted because The Jonas Brothers got asked to perform with Stevie Wonder, and I never got an opportunity like that as a young girl. "My show had been on air for years before, and I'd had everyone on that show - Dolly Parton, Vicki Lawrence, who taught me so many amazing things, so was actually the greatest blessing that those awards never happened because I was recognised all the time by millions of people. "Their identities were being formed by me. There's a part of them that's a little part of me. I love that people became my reward. People loved me and that feel good. "Of course, every year, never having my name called, and I was working so hard. Not necessarily saying that I deserved it, but I felt like 'What am I not doing?' Where's the math? Because if we're doing the equation, I feel like it equals some sort of validation."

Miley Cyrus addresses future acting plans as she issues 'challenge' to Hollywood directors
Miley Cyrus has "never really found the role" that would allow her to revive her acting career. The 32-year-old pop star shot to international fame when she took on the title role of Disney's musical television sitcom 'Hannah Montana' in the late 2000s, but has since been heavily focused on her music and only appeared in a handful of films. Speaking on the New York Times' 'The Interview' podcast, she said: "It's actually really interesting because I got 'Hannah Montana' because I was a singer. "I was singing in Nashville, there was a little place in our mall where you could go and make demos. We don't have a Build-A-Bear, we had Build-A-Country-Music-Star! "So I used to go to the mall, make my demos, write my songs. And they were looking for someone who could really sing, not just record kids' music but actually have music be the heart of the show. I was chosen to be an actress because I was a singer. "I got known as being an actress, but I hadn't actually acted in anything. I had been in a baked bean commercial and I had two lines in a Tim Burton one time." The 'Easy Lover' hitmaker - who starred opposite now ex-husband Liam Hemsworth in 'The Last Song' in 2010 and last held a leading role with 2012's 'So Undercover' - is still keen to return to acting at some point and has "challenged" directors an writers to come up with something that she can play. She added: "I became an actress so I could bring that part to life and then I just never really found the role for me because I'm such a character in myself that to find something that can absorb me completely is really challenging. "And I challenge every writer and director out there to bring it to me because I would love to. "I either want to be myself because I'm really good at that, or I wanna throw me away because I'm really good at that too. I'm not good in the middle."

Miley Cyrus surprises fans by singing 'Hannah Montana' classic 'The Climb' during a live performance; fans say 'still inspirational'
If you were a true Miley Cyrus fan, you already know the unmatched craze and love this Disney phenomenon sparked across the globe. Recently, the Malibu singer took a trip down memory lane at a private concert for her fans and surprised them by singing the opening notes of 'The Climb' from the 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie. The 32-year-old Grammy winner teased the fans present in the concert by saying, 'I'm not singing 'The Climb,' but I could.' According to People. com, the 100-member audience burst into song the moment pianist Michael Pollack struck the opening chords. Miley Cyrus surprises fans by singing 'The Climb' from the Hannah Montana movie The adorable moment grabbed the eyeballs of fans online as Cyrus sang; she paused mid-performance to ask, 'Is that the right word?' and 'Do you know the chorus?'—checking in playfully with the crowd. The pop singer, while ending the song, also joked that her drummer and boyfriend, Maxx Morando, had been waiting since middle school to play the song. Additionally, this was the first time Cyrus had publicly performed the beloved ballad in years. Fans react with pure nostalgia, and one wrote on Reddit, "This song will never not hit." "Still inspirational tbh," another said. While another said, "She's had her accolades sure, but I feel that she's still such an underrated talent. Will always be a mama fan and looking fwd to more that she'll do." 'I stand still proud to have been Hannah Montana' The last time Cyrus performed a Hannah Montana song was on August 11, 2024, while accepting her Disney Legend honor, and that was the last time fans witnessed the singer getting emotional while looking back on her years of playing Hannah Montana. She said then, "A little bit of everything has changed, ... but at the same time, nothing has changed at all." "I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana." Upcoming projects of Miley Cyrus On May 30, ahead of releasing her new album, Something Beautiful, Cyrus hosted an exclusive event with TikTok at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Miley Cyrus's latest album is finally here, as the pop superstar released her much-anticipated Something Beautiful on Friday. Something Beautiful is Cyrus's ninth album in her nearly 20-year career and follows 2023's Endless Summer Vacation, which featured her global smash hit 'Flowers.' She's also set to release an accompanying film for the record for one night only on June 12, and the movie will premiere next week at Tribeca. Earlier this week, Cyrus shared the album for a crowd of about 100 fans at a listening party at the Chateau Marmont, surprising attendees with an intimate performance as well, where she performed Something Beautiful tracks 'Easy Lover,' 'More to Lose' and ''End of the World,' along with 'Flowers' and an impromptu performance of 'The Climb.' During the event, Cyrus told her fans Something Beautiful 'is about taking these experiences, even when they're painful or we want to throw them away because they're just too much to bear, and wrapping them in beautiful bows and ribbons and appreciating all these gifts and experiences that we can't understand how they're going to serve us later in our life.' Cyrus also teased more music during the release party, telling the crowd that 'Something Beautiful is just the appetizer.' 'My next album is about to be extremely experimental, so have fun with that,' Cyrus said.
