Coronation Street exodus as TWO MORE departures confirmed by ITV - with a third Weatherfield resident hanging in the balance

Coronation Street has confirmed two more departures - with the fate of a third Weatherfield resident hanging in the balance. Back in January it was revealed that Sue Cleaver, 61 - who has played Eileen Grimshaw in the ITV soap for 25 years - would be leaving the Cobbles to pursue other things. Two months later it was confirmed that the soap star had already filmed her final scenes. Then it was revealed that Eileen's exit from the show would include her son Jason Grimshaw, meaning that actor Ryan Thomas, 40, would be reprising his role for the storyline. So viewers know that Eileen and her son will be leaving, however according to The Mirror, there could also be a third character that ends up fleeing Weatherfield as well. Corrie fans are desperate to know when Eileen's final scene will be on their screens and the lead up to her departure will begin to air this week. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Eileen's partner George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) will play a big role in the storyline. In scenes yet to air on our screens later this week, George is set to ask Eileen to marry and will do anything to be with her - even if that means moving away. But awkwardly Eileen is unsure if she even wants George to be part of her future. And next week will see Eileen's eldest son Jason return to the Cobbles - and he wants her to leave to move to Thailand with him. The builder has his own business in the Southeast Asian country and wants to join forces with his mum to become business partners. But when George is mentioned in the plans, Eileen doesn't seem keen - and when he finds out about it, he tries to put things right. George ends up offering to take the trio on holiday to see if they will get on, but is it not known if Eileen agrees to it. While George's future in Weatherfield is very uncertain at the moment, Eileen and Jason's final scenes air next week. Speaking to The Mirror about her on-screen son Ryan's involvement in the storyline, Sue said: 'Ryan was there from the start, and he was inconveniently living in Thailand, and it wouldn't be too far of a jump to expect that if Eileen was going to make a leap, that she would involve her son. 'And so when I decided to leave, like over a year ago, I rang Ryan, and I said, "Ryan, I'm going to tell them that I'm going, and if they ask me about exits, I'd really like to say that you'd come back and take me out, but I don't know whether they'd go for it or not". 'And he just went, "Oh my gosh, of course, I would". 'Which was so lovely for me. 'And it was just so nice to have him back and filming those final scenes with him. It just felt like I'd come full circle really.' Sue isn't the only star who is set to leave Corrie. Mick (Joe Layton and Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) are leaving in the summer, as well as Adam Hussain who plays Adam Hussain. Sue Devaney, who plays Debbie Webster, is leaving the soap next year, as well as Billy Mayhew star Daniel Brocklebank. TWO Coronation Street stars to exit soap next week – and huge clue a THIRD could follow them

TWO Coronation Street stars are set to exit the long-running soap next week. It was previously revealed that a famous actor will make a highly-anticipated return to the cobbles as part of the departure storyline. 6 6 6 In January this year, it was announced that former I'm A Celebrity campmate Sue Cleaver, 61, will leave Coronation Street. After 25 years, she will depart the serial drama and leave her role as Eileen Grimshaw behind. As part of her exit storyline, Ryan Thomas, 40, will reprise his rol e as her on-screen son Jason Grimshaw. He will cause trouble on the street as he flirts with Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson). She is the estranged wife of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) who of course had an illicit affair with his brother Todd (Gareth Pierce). However, spoilers also hint that Eileen's partner George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) could also be departing the show. On the ITV serial drama, Eileen will contemplate her entire future as she is even left questioning her relationship. He is set to get down on one knee and pop the question to her, but in awkward scenes Elineen does not seem as keen as he thought. Meanwhile, Jason has set up a business in Thailand and he wants his mother to join him and move abroad. Eileen will be extremely tempted by her son's offer as he asks her to be his new partner in the business. Relive some of Ryan Thomas' classic moments as Jason Grimshaw - a role he has played in Coronation Street since 2000 When he mentions George, Eileen thinks that he would not want to go across the world with her. But, George is keen to prove Eileen wrong when word gets back to him, and he will make a huge gesture. He will book a holiday as a test run as he offers to leave Weatherfield with her and her son. However, will Eileen stay with George as she prepares to leave the street she has called home for 25 years? Coronation Street's 2024 shock exits Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap: Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany. The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza's grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life. Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes. After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite was devastated to learn he only had months left to live. Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering. Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America. Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul's impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full. Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles. The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend. Simon's been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy. Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child. It looks likely she'll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind. Show stalwart Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end. Her character left the Street after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. Will there be a sad split or will George be leaving the show with Eileen? Meanwhile, Sue admitted that she feels that the storyline is the perfect send off for her iconic character. Speaking about her forthcoming departure, she explained: "I said very much that I would like her to go off to pastures new, you know, to kind of mirror what I'm doing in a sense. "And I just think it's time for a change. So it was perfect." It was just so nice to have him [Ryan Thomas] back and filming those final scenes with him. Sue Cleaver She added to The Mirror: "I'm so happy with the ending, and I was so humbled by it and the way it had been written and what it is. "I felt very grateful to have such a wonderful ending written. It seemed very, very apt." The actress also admitted that she wanted Ryan Thomas to come back for her exit. Sue told the outlet: "When I decided to leave, like over a year ago, I rang Ryan, and I said, 'Ryan, I'm going to tell them that I'm going, and if they ask me about exits, I'd really like to say that you'd come back and take me out, but I don't know whether they'd go for it or not'. "And he just went, 'Oh my gosh, of course, I would', which was so lovely for me. She added: "It was just so nice to have him back and filming those final scenes with him. The unit is in a prime location, previously occupied by Hays Travel, and should provide anyone with deep enough pockets the chance to showcase their brand. The only problem is that ITV has been advertising the storefront on its website for some time — with it being available as far back as March. A TV insider said: 'Perhaps the fact that Coronation Street's viewing figures weren't quite what they were, would suggest that this isn't exactly a bargain price. 'A seven-figure sum is eye-watering considering the shop itself may only end up in a limited number of scenes and shots, and the fact that it doesn't seem to have been snapped up suggests there aren't many takers.' The advert states: 'Your brand could be the next 'grand store opening' on the nation's most famous street, Coronation Street. This is a unique Product Placement opportunity, with proven success. 'Seamlessly integrating your brand and elevating your SOV, trust and fame—without direct retail competition.' An ITV Spokesperson: 'Coronation Street has enjoyed a successful partnership with Hays Travel and we are excited to welcome a new brand to the storefront in the UK's biggest product placement partnership soon.' Big characters Although it was still ITV's most watched show on Friday, the episode of Corrie drew in just under 3.3million viewers, which wasn't much more than its channel rival, Emmerdale. Over the past year, Coronation Street has said goodbye to a string of big characters, including Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) which, it is claimed, is down to bosses having to cut costs as advertising rates are further squeezed. Michael McStay makes Coronation Street debut as Alan Hoyle in 2010 The news also comes at the end of a week when ITV confirmed dramatic changes to its daytime TV schedule, with Loose Women being cut to 30 weeks a year. Joel said: 'It's been an interesting time for comedy on telly because panel shows have sort of fallen by the wayside. 'So comedians who used to populate these panel shows, they have gone on to such varying stuff. 'We all started out like me, Rob Beckett, Romesh, Joe Lycett, we would never have dreamt of being on all these different TV channels, doing all these different kinds of shows.'
