Virtual Racing thrills families at NSTP booth during Karnival Jom Heboh

KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors to the Karnival Jom Heboh (KJH) at KL Base were treated to an exciting dose of futuristic fun at the New Straits Times Press (NSTP) booth, which featured a virtual racing experience powered by augmented reality (AR) technology. The interactive activity allowed participants to use a gaming steering wheel to control a physical toy car on a designated track. A television screen in front of the drivers displayed the actual course, enhanced with car designs and digital power-ups, creating an immersive virtual racing environment. Rahmat Hilmi, 40, from Keramat praised the unique experience, adding that it brought families together. "It's really something different from the other booths. It brings that family vibe where everyone, regardless of age, can take part," he said. He also suggested a few improvements, including increasing the visibility of the activity from afar to attract more visitors. "Right now, people have to walk past the booth before they notice the TV screen. "Maybe clearer signage or better promotional visuals could help catch attention from a distance," he added. The booth offered the activity at a family-friendly price of RM20 for four people, which many found worthwhile. Meanwhile, checks from morning until 3pm did not see as many visitors flooding into KJH as compared to previous locations. One of the visitors, Ahmad Naqiuddin Shah. 27, who lives nearby the carnival at Jalan Klang Lama said it could be due to the hot weather. "I came because it just so happens to be near my house which is only 15 minutes away. "It might not seem lively right now, especially earlier in the afternoon due to the hot weather. "But maybe people are looking forward to the concert tonight when the temperature is cooler. "But I would recommend people to come because KJH is known for its fun and family-friendly activities. And on the bright side, there is ample parking for visitors," he said. KJH, the roadshow-style carnival will continue its tour across other states, including Penang, Johor, Kelantan, and Sarawak. Adding to the excitement at KL Base will be a special appearance by cast members from the hit film Ejen Ali 2, which is currently screening in cinemas nationwide. In addition to the AR racing experience, visitors can look forward to a host of exciting programmes throughout the day. At 4.30pm, the first Drama Meet and Greet session featuring cast members from Bukan Ipar Sempurna, Fazleena Md Daud, Atira Karma, Jiha Sham and Cahaya Nilam, will take place at Studio Tonton Drama Sangat. This will be followed by a second session at 6.15pm for fans of Aku Bukan Ustazah 2, where Ahmad Syafiq, Fikhree Bakar and Shaza Bae are scheduled to make an appearance. The festivities will culminate in the much-anticipated Konsert Jom Heboh at 9pm on the Pentas Utama stage. The concert will showcase performances by a star-studded lineup including Shiha Zikir, Bunga Isme, Puteri Khareeza, Ameerais, Aisha Retno, Khai Bahar and the group A.X.P, led by Amir Sofaz.

Malay Mail's Top 10 Picks: ‘Ejen Ali 2' dominates local box office, marking another major win for Malaysian animation

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — It's not even surprising to see local animation Ejen Ali The Movie 2: Misi Satria, by WAU Animation and Primeworks Studios, taking over the local box office and claiming the No. 1 spot. This sequel to the 2019 hit has been met with glowing reviews and praised for its strong storytelling — with some even calling it an upgrade over the first — marking yet another win for Malaysian animation. While Ejen Ali 2 settles comfortably at the top, don't overlook Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the final instalment in the iconic film series. Or, if you're in the mood for some childhood nostalgia, the live-action Lilo & Stitch is currently showing in cinemas as well. It's the final week of May, so why not wrap it up with a movie night, top streaming series, the latest hits on Spotify, or even a great book? Jom Heboh returns with Ejen Ali stars at KL Base kick-off

KUALA LUMPUR: Karnival Jom Heboh (KJH), the beloved roadshow-style carnival that has delighted Malaysians for over two decades, returns this year with five stops nationwide — kicking off on May 30 at KL Base, Kuala Lumpur. The much-anticipated event will continue its tour across other states, including Penang, Johor, Kelantan, and Sarawak. Adding to the excitement at KL Base will be a special appearance by cast members from the hit film Ejen Ali 2, which is currently screening in cinemas nationwide. Media Prima Omnia (Direct Solutions) chief operating officer Datuk Mohd Efendi Omar said this year's KJH would offer a wide range of activities, with more than 200 booths set up to attract visitors. He said that the programmes were curated to provide entertainment for the whole family, ensuring a fun-filled day for all attendees. "This year's edition will feature over 200 booths showcasing a variety of brands, including products from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and agro-based businesses. "Visitors can also look forward to attractions such as hot air balloon rides and food festivals, which will be part of the festivities at each location," he said during the KJH convoy flag-off ceremony held at Balai Berita Bangsar today. The convoy, which includes members of the DRKnight Malaysia Motor Club, was flagged off by Media Prima Berhad (MPB) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid. Also present was MPB Group chief financial officer Rosli Sabarudin. Mohd Efendi said that KJH remained committed to supporting and promoting local entrepreneurs, with many established and emerging SMEs participating to expand their brand visibility. "KJH has always been a platform for local products to gain recognition. Many SME entrepreneurs are leveraging this opportunity to grow their businesses and connect with a broader audience," he said. He also said that about 50 celebrities, including popular artistes, would be making appearances throughout the carnival. Visitors will have the chance to meet them and enjoy live performances. "This time, we're bringing in the beloved Queen of Rock, Ella, to entertain the crowd. Other artistes such as Khai Bahar and Shiha Zikir will also be performing at KJH," he said.

Caught in 4K: Netizens React To Mysterious Search History 'Leak' On KL Billboard

Whether we like to admit it or not, our internet search history has become an absolute safekeeping that would leak some pretty embarrassing things about ourselves. From searching about weird topics or stalking a random celebrity, we'd rather keep those enquiries private. However, from 13th to 14th May 2025, commuters on the LDP highway were met with a peculiar sight of someone's search history flashed on a massive digital billboard for all to see. The search history was what we can describe as very human queries, sparking netizens to wonder what would appear next. Instead of the usual advertisements, the search history pop-up was framed to look like an error message, which had some interesting and mildly concerning queries. As shown in photos, the anonymous 'user' was looking for answers to, 'Who is M Nasir?', 'Is pickleball overrated?', 'Can I play Hauntu alone?', 'What does cat food taste like?' 'What's the main attraction of Sabah?', and 'Why (is my) body itchy after thrifting?'. Netizens were quick to share their sightings of the billboard on social media, with some speculating what this showcase might be. While other users ponder over those interesting queries, such as Twitter user @Angelinebabyyy commenting, 'Who in their right mind wakes up and wonders what cat food tastes like?', TikTok user @/hafizkodin speculates that this might be an ad for the upcoming 'Ejen Ali 2' movie. Hauntu Malaysia also spotted the sighting and posted on their Twitter with the caption, 'Spotted this billboard this morning. Someone was definitely having Tuesday blues, but for real though, who dares to go Hauntu alone? And who in Malaysia doesn't know M Nasir??'. Is this a new marketing gimmick for brands, or is this just an honest glitch? Check out this video of the viral billboard, which also gives you tips on how to delete your browser history: Source: Twitter (1)(2), TikTok Alyssa Gabrielle contributed to this article
