Penang say adios to El Capitano
KUALA LUMPUR: Penang have put to rest all speculation about Rafael Vitor's future and his naturalisation status by confirming that their former captain will be returning to Brazil to join Serie B outfit Amazonas FC.
The club's Facebook statement on Thursday ended rumours of a potential move to Johor Darul Ta'zim and talks his eligibility to play for Malaysia.
"Good luck to former El Capitano, Vitor, who will return to Brazil with Serie B's Amazonas FC," the club posted.
"Thank you for all the memories, fighting spirit and leadership that have been shown throughout the time with Penang."
Vitor, who joined the Panthers in 2020 and became a cornerstone of the club's defence, leaves behind a legacy of fierce commitment and leadership on and off the pitch.
