Penang say adios to El Capitano

KUALA LUMPUR: Penang have put to rest all speculation about Rafael Vitor's future and his naturalisation status by confirming that their former captain will be returning to Brazil to join Serie B outfit Amazonas FC.
The club's Facebook statement on Thursday ended rumours of a potential move to Johor Darul Ta'zim and talks his eligibility to play for Malaysia.
"Good luck to former El Capitano, Vitor, who will return to Brazil with Serie B's Amazonas FC," the club posted.
"Thank you for all the memories, fighting spirit and leadership that have been shown throughout the time with Penang."
Vitor, who joined the Panthers in 2020 and became a cornerstone of the club's defence, leaves behind a legacy of fierce commitment and leadership on and off the pitch.

Soccer-Inzaghi leaves Pisa job after promotion to Serie A

(Reuters) -Filippo Inzaghi has left his role as Pisa manager by mutual consent, the Serie A club said on Friday, with the coach moving on just weeks after leading the Tuscan side to promotion from Italy's second tier. Inzaghi, older brother of Simone who recently left Inter Milan to manage Saudi club Al-Hilal, took Pisa back to the top flight after an absence of 34 years in his first season at the club. The 51-year-old former Italy striker began his managerial career at AC Milan where he ended his playing days, taking charge at the San Siro for one season before earning promotion from the third tier with Venezia. Inzaghi, who also brought Benevento up to Serie A, is now widely expected to become manager of Serie B club Palermo, according to Italian media reports. Royal inspiration: Tunku Ismail's pre-match pep talk powers Malaysia to stunning Vietnam victory

A rousing pre-match speech by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, lit a fire in Harimau Malaya as they stormed to a stunning 4-0 victory over Vietnam in their Asian Cup qualifier at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night. Shared via the national team's official Facebook page, a video captured the electrifying moment in the dressing room as Tunku Ismail addressed the squad with passion and conviction before kickoff. ALSO READ: Tunku Ismail calls for shift in mindset on local football infrastructure, says 90% of fields nationwide in 'terrible' state 'Try to bring our national football to a higher level,' he started off. 'Whatever we build is nothing if we do not have a result. 'Remember, there are some who doubt us. 'Nevermind, we are doing something new that they are not used to. Let your performance speak louder,' he told the players. 'It's time to show our true colours. If we change football in our homeland, it will be because of you, not anyone else, you are the heroes. 'You make them feel a sense of belonging, you make them believe. 'We want them to believe, and one way they can believe is when we show character, a fighting spirit, this is our home. 'Go!' he fired. Tunku Ismail, who is also the owner of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), has long championed the growth of Malaysian football, and his words clearly struck a chord. Inspired by his rousing speech, Malaysia stunned regional giants Vietnam to break an 11-year winless streak, climbing to the top of Group F with six points—three ahead of Vietnam and Laos, while Nepal remained rooted at the bottom without a win.
