Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster announcement date revealed

Bethesda is teasing an Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion livestream where it will no doubt unveil the first gameplay footage of the long-rumoured remaster. After months of rumours, of Microsoft releasing a remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, concrete evidence of its existence, including several screenshots, leaked last week via the website for Singaporean developer Virtuos. That reinforced suggestions that the remaster could launch as early as this month, with some suggesting that Microsoft could just shadow drop it with little fanfare – which would be surprising considering the original game's popularity and legacy. Whatever the case, Microsoft and Bethesda have now formally acknowledged the remaster's existence and intend to make a proper announcement this week. An Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion related livestream is currently slated to go live on Bethesda's YouTube channel on Tuesday, April 22 at 4pm BST. Although the livestream's title only reads 'All will be revealed,' the placeholder image depicts the roman numeral for four and what looks like a close-up of a helmeted solider. The point is, it's blatantly for Elder Scrolls 4, but exactly what the livestream will entail is being kept under wraps. At the very least, you should expect a trailer, a release date, confirmation of Virtuos' involvement, and pre-order details, since the leaked screenshots included images of a deluxe edition of the game. The leaked screenshots already showed that the game's graphics have seen a significant overhaul, to the point where some suggest it looks more like a remake than a remaster. A report from earlier this year also claimed that some gameplay elements have been adjusted. For example, blocking attacks during combat was described to be more akin to Soulslike games. More Trending There haven't been any other significant leaks since the screenshots but that hasn't stopped people from scouring for any info they can find. For instance, dataminer XOXLEAK (who typically focuses on Marvel Rivals leaks) has claimed the Elder Scrolls 4 remaster's file size will be a whopping 120 GB, making it much bigger than The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Fans also think they've found evidence of Virtuos talking about its intentions with the Elder Scrolls 4 remaster in an interview from last year, where they describe it as being more along the lines of a remake, since they mention needing to modernise elements for both new and returning fans. 'We are working on a very big, unannounced project,' said Virtuos design director Nicolas Roginski, 'Our approach for the design work of this remake is simple but challenging. … To produce a quality remake, we aim at recreating the 'feeling of the memory', not the actual memory.' The ‘Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake' Is Real, And New Images Look Spectacular

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion There seems to be some confusion about whether reports are real that Microsoft is about to shadow drop what should be a high profile Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake next week. Yes, it's real. You may not believe one source, but how about five, six? And from highly reputable sources and outlets. Well, that's where we are now. The list of confirmations is now: And most recently Eurogamer, probably the biggest name so far, which has come out to say this about a recent gallery of leaked image files from the game 'Eurogamer has corroborated that these files - and there are more here collected on imgur - are currently being hosted on Virtuos' servers (for now).' Those pictures are more than the ones we've seen previously. I'm still not going to download and post them here (just embed), lest the wrath of Microsoft suddenly decide to descend, but probably not as we are allegedly just a few days away from the release, a terribly kept secret that the game is releasing on April 21, or thereabouts. This would have been a cool shadow drop, I suppose, but we knew since docs were released in the Microsoft court case that this was in development, and things have clearly been leaky since the start of 2025 with sources ranging from Microsoft to Bethesda to Virtuous, it seems. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder I've marked this a few times now, but it's always worth reminding people that A) this is being completely remade in Unreal Engine 5, which is why it looks so good, and B) there are a number of quality of life changes coming which include: The HUD – Meant to be easier to understand for new players Stamina – Meant to be less frustrating and for players to be knocked down less when its depleted Hit Reactions – Meant to improve combat on both the player and enemy side Blocking – Meant to be 'inspired by Souls-like games' Sneaking – Meant to have sneak icons more highlighted Archery – Meant to make it 'modern' for third and first person play (Stealth Archer, here we come). I expect there to be more past that, even if they're minor as again, this is remaking a 20 year old game. A remaster? Maybe not. But a full remake? Yes, there are going to be some significant changes here. I'm wondering specifically about faces and facial animations, which aren't seen here. See you in a few days. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake is real, according to developer screenshots

It looks like that long-rumored remake of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is actually real, according to a report by Eurogamer. There are actual screenshots of the game in action that were published on developer Virtuos' website. Even cooler? Eurogamer suggests that the game will be shadow-dropped next week for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The same report also indicates it'll be available on Game Pass. Fans on Reddit and elsewhere began poking around on the developer's website and reportedly found a treasure trove of in-game images, which included comparison screenshots to the original game from 2006. Eurogamer has collected these images on imgur to preserve them for posterity. It has also been corroborated that the screenshots do come from Virtuos' server. We've reached out to Bethesda and will update this post when we hear back. This remake has been bouncing around the rumor mill since 2020. Initial reports pegged it as a simple remaster, but a former Virtuos employee claimed it was a full remake back in 2023. It's reportedly being built using Unreal Engine 5. That same employee also suggested that several gameplay systems have been completely reworked, including stamina, archery, sneaking, blocking and hit reaction. The HUD has also supposedly been remade. All we can do now is wait for next week and see if Microsoft does indeed surprise-drop the game. If not, there's an Xbox summer showcase on June 8. Maybe we'll get some clarity at that event.
