Local high school secures 1st state softball title, finishes with perfect record
A second area high school softball team has won its first state title after a perfect season. Elizabeth Poling pitched a three-hit shutout with three strikeouts. Tri-Village is the second area high school to win a state softball championship and finish the season undefeated. As previously reported by News Center 7, Kenton Ridge won the Division IV state softball championship and finished with a 32-0 record. AKRON, Ohio (WDTN) – Tri-Village softball won the program's first-ever state championship Sunday after defeating Sugarcreek Garaway 6-0 in the final. It was the Patriots' first trip to the state final since 1980. Emma Greet led the way at the plate for the Patriots, going 2-3 with an RBI base hit. Elizabeth Poling tossed a dime for Tri-Village, pitching the complete-game shutout with just three hits given up and striking out three.
