First picture of woman found dead in Dundee flat as police launch probe
Tributes have poured in for Ellie Scanlan, 30, who passed away on July 1.
A probe has been launched after a woman was found dead at a flat in Dundee.
Emergency services were called to a property on Tullideph Street at around 3.10pm on Tuesday, July 1.
A 30-year-old woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Police are treating her death as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing.
She has been named locally as Ellie Scanlan.
Her sister Gigi revealed she had passed away in her sleep and her mum raised the alarm.
Sharing the family's grief, she wrote: "Ellie passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday morning and was found by our mum. While our grief is immeasurable, we will never forget Ellie, her spirit, her strength, and everything she stood for.
"She was truly one of life's angels. She fought fiercely and fearlessly for what she believed in, and she gave generously to everyone and every cause that touched her heart.
"She was a true fighter for what was right and spent her life trying to make the world a little lighter for those around her, because as she always knew, life is tough, but she made it easier just by being in it.
"We love you, El. You were far too good for this world."
Dundee -based DJ Hannah Laing led the tributes to the talented footballer.
In a post describing her as her "best mate" and "sister" she said: "My best mate is gone and now a piece of me too, words can't comprehend it.'
"You weren't just my friend, you were my sister.
"Everyone would always comment on how our personalities were so similar.
"We got into a s*** load of trouble growing up. We went through every stage of life together.
"You were at my first ever gig. You always had my back, loyal to the core.
"I'll cherish those mischievous memories for the rest of my life.
"I'll miss your kindness, your craziness, your wild stories.
"Rest in peace my sister. I'll carry you with me forever."
Ellie was a talented sportswoman and played at Glenrothes Strollers Ladies Football Club last season.
The club announced they would retire her 22 shirt in her memory.
Club manager Pauline Harley said: 'She was a great person who was so unselfish and wanted the best for people.
'She had planned on coming back this year. A lovely girl who will be missed.'
