Kamala Harris doesn't hold back in sharp rebuke of Trump's first 100 days '

Former Vice President Kamala Harris on April 30 criticized President Donald Trump's approach to the economy and warned of a constitutional crisis in her sharpest rebuke of the president since leaving the White House in January. 'Instead of an administration working to advance America's highest ideals, we are witnessing the wholesale abandonment of those ideals,' Harris said in San Francisco during an address at the 20th anniversary gala for Emerge America. The organization recruits and trains Democratic women to run for office. Harris, whose remarks came just one day after Trump marked his 100th day in office, said the new administration is trying to sow fear in Americans. But in the face of fear comes courage, she said. "The courage of Americans who are banding together in the face of the greatest man-made economic crisis in modern presidential history," she said. "Americans across the political spectrum who are declaring that the President's reckless tariffs hurt workers and families by raising the cost of everyday essentials." Related: Dismantling agencies and firing workers: How Trump is redefining relations with Congress and courts As a result of Trump's on-again off-again tariffs, markets have see-sawed and consumer confidence has dropped. It all came to a head Wednesday when data from the Commerce Department showed the economy had its worst quarter in three years. Trump pushed the blame onto former President Joe Biden, Harris' one-time boss, saying there will be a 'boom' to the economy once his tariffs kick in. But Harris, who lost in the 2024 presidential election after taking over from Biden, said she predicted that Trump's tariffs are 'clearly inviting a recession.' The former vice president also warned that checks and balances that the United States has historically relied on 'have begun to buckle." Congress and the courts must do their parts to protect that balance, Harris said. But if the president defies them, it is the start of serious problems, she said. "Friends, that is called a constitutional crisis," she said. "And that is a crisis that will eventually impact everyone because it would mean that the rules that protect our fundamental rights and freedoms that ensure each of us has a say about how our government works will no longer matter." While she's reportedly weighing her next move in politics, whether running for president a third time or campaign to be the next California governor, Harris warned Americans that things are probably 'going to get worse before they get better.' 'Please always remember this country is ours,' she said. 'It doesn't belong to whoever is in the White House. It belongs to you.' Kamala Harris goes viral for learning TikTok dance before S.F. speech

Kamala Harris took time to dance it out before making her first major speech since President Donald Trump took office. The Oakland native delivered a sobering speech at San Francisco's Palace Hotel during the Emerge America 20th anniversary gala on Wednesday, April 30. But first, she met up with content creator Kenneth Walden to let loose before she began. A viral video posted to Walden's social media accounts shows him teaching the former vice president the popular 'Boots on the Ground' line dance, inspired by Georgia-born singer 803Fresh's 2024 song of the same name. It has divided audiences, with some deeming Harris' attempt 'cringe' while others lament her presidential loss. 'Alright, here we go' Walden shouted as they stepped-side-to-side and ran through the dance, the two of them laughing and high-fiving in excitement. 'I knew you would get it.' The original video has received more than 661,000 likes on TikTok as of Friday, May 2, and the clip has been re-circulated by a variety of other accounts on X, Instagram and TikTok. 'Living her best life. I feel you madam president,' commented Instagram user @bernoidrussell. 'This connection is powerful. Thank you for always giving us hope,' wrote @ Others, however, weren't as charmed by Harris' dance moves. 'What a joke' wrote @samsonoptionvivi, while @kpetoney expressed gratitude that Harris didn't win the election, noting that 'Foreign leaders would eat her alive.' This isn't the first time Harris has received mixed feedback for dancing in public. Throughout her presidential campaign, various clips of her showing off her moves circulated online evoking similar criticism for being unserious. Nonetheless, the discourse hasn't stopped her from enjoying a good tune. Another video posted to Walden's accounts shows Harris flicking open the rainbow fan as the line, 'Where them fans at?' plays, shifting her weight to one leg and striking a pose as off-camera voices cheer her on. 'VP Kamala Harris is the Uncontested champion with the fan,' the caption reads. Walden also interviewed Harris in a few additional clips shared to his Instagram account, asking her how she plans to uplift Black women and how she maintains Black joy in the public eye. 'I have a husband who is here right now,' she said. 'And an incredible circle of friends who are family, and family,' she said. 'I think it's just important to be with those people who love you and care about you, and get you.' In her 18-minute speech Wednesday evening, Harris criticized Trump's administration on his 100th day back in office. She has yet to announce her future plans since losing the 2024 election, but many have speculated that she may join the race for California Governor.

Kamala Harris spotted at NYC hotspot with husband Doug Emhoff, row over NYPD officers waiting outside

Kamala Harris was spotted at The Polo Bar in Manhattan on Sunday evening. Former vice president Kamala Harris was spotted at New York's hotspot on Sunday night as she went on a dinner date with husband Doug Emhoff at The Polo Bar in Midtown Manhattan. What started a row over this was the huge entourage of policemen who were on security duty for the former VP and the former second husband. Apart from 25 secret Service agents, there were NYPD officers either flanking the couple or waiting outside where four bulletproof cars and three additional SUVs were stationed. "Secret Service is fine; NYPD, no. NYPD needs to protect the people, we don't have enough of them," Republican NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Silwa said to "She's going to a bar to enjoy herself, and she's got an army of security paid for by us, not her." As a former vice president, Harris and her family are entitled to federally funded protection for about six months after leaving office. Silwa said the Secret Service was doing its job, but the heavy police presence should have been paid by the couple for their night out. "It's unbelievable... there were probably more security officers between the feds and the NYPD than there were patrons inside," Silwa said. — kamala_things (@kamala_things) The Polo Bar is known for its exorbitant prices and also for its exclusivity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Cost Of Amusement Park Equipment From Mexico Might Surprise You Amusement Park Equipment | search ads Click Here Undo The jaunt which was opened 10 years ago as part of Ralph Lauren's foray into hospitality is a favorite among the celebrities. "President Trump and his administration and their allies are counting on the notion that fear can be contagious," Harris said in her first major speech after her election defeat -- on the 20th anniversary gala for Emerge America. "What they are overlooking is that fear is not the only thing that's contagious, courage is contagious," she said.
