No. 1 Texas A&M stunned by Liberty in College Station Regional
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (FOX 44) — Texas A&M softball lost to Liberty 8-5 to fall into the losers bracket and put itself one loss away from elimination. The Aggies jumped out to a 4-0 lead with some help from Savanah Whatley who committed two errors at shortstop. Kramer Eschete drove in the first run and then Kelsey Mathis hit an RBI single to get the bats rolling. Emiley Kennedy put together a pair of scoreless innings to start the game but the Flames put up three runs in the top of the third to keep the pressure on the Aggies. Allie Enright brought home an insurance run in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly. Despite scoring five runs the Aggies struggled to string together hits, recording only five knocks all game. In the sixth inning the Flames exploded for five runs on a couple of huge swings. Alyssa Henault roped a two run single into center field and then KK Madry unloaded on a two-run homer to give Liberty some breathing room. The Flames are just one more victory away from advancing to the Super Regionals. Texas A&M will now have to fight back through the losers bracket. The Aggies will play the winner of Marist and Saint Francis later tonight at 6 PM. If A&M comes away with the win it would force the Aggies to defeat Liberty twice on Sunday. Texas A&M Falls to Liberty in Bryan-College Station Regional upset
Texas A&M Falls to Liberty in Bryan-College Station Regional upset No. 1-ranked Texas A&M (46-10) fell to Liberty (49-12) on Saturday afternoon on day two of the Bryan-College Station at Davis Diamond. The Aggies couldn't get any offense going as they struggled to barrel up any pitch off Liberty, keeping them out of sync all game long. The most damage came in the bottom of the second, where they plated four runners, mostly aided by multiple errors by the Lady Flames, taking a 4-0 lead. Liberty answered back immediately with three runs of their own in the top of the third inning. A&M pushed one more run across the plate in the bottom of the third, but that's where the scoring ended for A&M. The Lady Flames jumped all over Emiley Kennedy in the top of the sixth inning, pushing across five runs to take an 8-5 lead that lasted through the rest of the game without the Aggies putting up much of a threat. Texas A&M falls to the loser's bracket and awaits the winner of Marist vs. Saint Francis to play in an elimination game at approximately 6 p.m. CT for a spot in the regional final. A regional round of the 2025 NCAA softball tournament that had largely gone according to form just got its first major upset. In its second game of the tournament, No. 1 national seed Texas A&M was stunned by Liberty 8-5 Saturday in the Bryan-College Station Regional at Davis Diamond, putting one of the pre-tournament favorites on its heels unexpectedly early in the event. Aggies ace Emiley Kennedy was tagged for 11 hits and eight earned runs, though she managed to strike out eight batters across seven innings. Entering the day, Kennedy, a first-team All-SEC selection, had lost just one game since March 10. With the loss, Texas A&M will now try to avoid a shockingly early elimination when it faces off Saturday night against the winner of a Saturday afternoon game between Marist and Saint Francis, the latter of which the Aggies beat 18-0 in five innings on Friday. Should Texas A&M avoid another upset, it will have to beat Liberty twice on Sunday to advance to the super regional round and keep its national title aspirations alive. The Aggies came into Saturday with a 46-8 record on the season, earning it the NCAA tournament's top seed ahead of four-time reigning national champion Oklahoma.

Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma in the SEC softball Championship has been delayed
No. 1 Texas A&M (45-9, 16-7 SEC) run-ruled the Texas Longhorns 14-2 on Friday night during the SEC Tournament semifinal round, just a day after run-ruling South Carolina on Thursday evening. The Aggies are the hottest team in the country and have earned a spot in the SEC Tournament Championship against perennial contender Oklahoma. However, the Championship game has now been pushed back multiple times due to inclement weather in Athens, Georgia, as the matchup was previously moved up to noon CT. before the rain began to pour in during the early parts of Saturday afternoon. While the game is expected to be played sooner than later, this does open the possibility of a momentum shift. Advertisement Scoring 14 runs against a respectable Texas team is nothing to scoff at, and with the Aggie offense, led by KK Dement, Amari Harper, Mac Barbara, and Mya Perez, the pitching staff, especially ace Emiley Kennedy (21-4) have been nothing short of stellar, and are more than ready to make a run in the NCAA Tournament. Getting past the Sooners is the first step, however. Until the tarp is removed from the field, and the rain stops for at least a couple of hours, it is not expected that the game will start. Right now, rain is forecasted throughout the day in Athens, so prepare for an elongated wait time moving forward.
