Texas A&M Falls to Liberty in Bryan-College Station Regional upset
No. 1-ranked Texas A&M (46-10) fell to Liberty (49-12) on Saturday afternoon on day two of the Bryan-College Station at Davis Diamond.
The Aggies couldn't get any offense going as they struggled to barrel up any pitch off Liberty, keeping them out of sync all game long. The most damage came in the bottom of the second, where they plated four runners, mostly aided by multiple errors by the Lady Flames, taking a 4-0 lead.
Liberty answered back immediately with three runs of their own in the top of the third inning. A&M pushed one more run across the plate in the bottom of the third, but that's where the scoring ended for A&M.
The Lady Flames jumped all over Emiley Kennedy in the top of the sixth inning, pushing across five runs to take an 8-5 lead that lasted through the rest of the game without the Aggies putting up much of a threat.
Texas A&M falls to the loser's bracket and awaits the winner of Marist vs. Saint Francis to play in an elimination game at approximately 6 p.m. CT for a spot in the regional final.

Angel Reese Gives Nickname to Coco Gauff After Chicago Sky's Blowout Loss
Angel Reese Gives Nickname to Coco Gauff After Chicago Sky's Blowout Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky may have taken a hard hit on the scoreboard Tuesday night, but forward Angel Reese still found a way to shine. Advertisement After the Sky's 85-66 loss to the undefeated New York Liberty, Reese shared a heartfelt moment with tennis star Coco Gauff. Gauff, fresh off winning her second Grand Slam title at the French Open, was sitting courtside at the Barclays Center. She was seen enjoying the game with Vanessa Bryant and her daughters, making it a special night for sports fans. During a timeout, cameras zoomed in on Gauff and the crowd erupted with cheers. She was also greeted by Ellie the Elephant, the Liberty's mascot, and visited the Liberty locker room after the game. But the real crossover moment happened after the final buzzer. Reese posted a video on Instagram Story showing her meeting with Gauff. 'The QUEEN,' Reese added a caption, tagging Gauff directly. Advertisement Despite the tough loss, Reese appeared unfazed. In fact, she seemed more excited to meet Gauff than discouraged by the outcome of the game. Her warm gesture came shortly after the tennis champion was honored with loud cheers by Liberty fans. Meanwhile, Reese recorded her 30th career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, making her the fastest player in WNBA history to reach that mark. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese in the first quarter against the New York Liberty at Barclays Cruz-Imagn Images On the other hand, Gauff had earned her spotlight just days earlier by beating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka at Roland-Garros. At only 21 years old, she became the youngest American woman since Serena Williams in 2002 to win the French Open. Advertisement It was her second Grand Slam title after winning the 2023 US Open. Following the match, fans gave her a new nickname: 'Queen of Clay.' Now, Reese has added her own spin to that crown. The Chicago Sky will try to bounce back on Friday when they face the Atlanta Dream. But even in defeat, Angel Reese made headlines not just for her stats, but for her shoutout to a fellow queen in sports. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin breaks his silence on T.J. Watt holdout amid minicamp absence
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin breaks his silence on T.J. Watt holdout amid minicamp absence Day 1 of Steelers mandatory minicamp has come and gone — and T.J. Watt was nowhere to be found. The Steelers star defender is likely channeling the energy of his former hold-in that resulted in a major payday just days before the start of the 2021 regular season — and HC Mike Tomlin wasted little time addressing the elephant in the room. Regarding Watt's mandatory minicamp absence, Tomlin made it clear he was neither shocked nor worried about Watt's future in the Steel City (courtesy of Teresa Varley, "Certainly, we'd like him to be here, but certainly not surprised by where we are," said Tomlin. "We've expressed a desire to get the business done. He has as well. So, we'll continue to work. We've been here before." Even at 30 years old, Watt remains the unquestioned life force of the Steelers defense — a pass-rush monster designed to create havoc in opposing backfields that deserves to get paid sooner than later. Brianna Stewart Names Liberty's Weak Link Without Hesitation
Brianna Stewart Names Liberty's Weak Link Without Hesitation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With a record now of 9-0 following a drubbing of the Chicago Sky in Brooklyn on Tuesday, the defending-champion Liberty appear to be a team without flaws. The final was 85-66, but the reality was that New York never trailed in the game and held a lead that swelled to as much as 34 points. Advertisement New York joined the Lynx with a nine-game winning streak to start the year, and in the early going of this WNBA season, it certainly appears as though there are two teams, followed by everyone else. And even within that pairing, the Liberty look like the better team, with only two games (at home vs. the Valkyries and on the road in Indiana) that qualify as close. The Lynx's average margin of victory is an impressive 10.7 points. The Liberty, though? It's 19.8 points. But after the game against the Sky, star forward Breanna Stewart was asked by ESPN's Scott Van Pelt whether New York had any weaknesses--a fair question, considering what a wrecking ball the team has been thus far. Breanna Stewart, Liberty© Grace Smith/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images As Van Pelt put it, "You guys are kind of a machine right now, it seems to me." Advertisement Stewart shot right back. "Just our rebounding," she said. "Defensive rebounding, we always know we can do better at. Chicago beat us on the boards tonight. And we've got to just continue to keep stepping up without (Jonquel Jones)." Jones missed Tuesday's game with an ankle injury. The Sky did outrebound New York, 37-29, and the Liberty gave up 10 offensive rebounds. Heading into Tuesday's game, though, the Liberty were fifth in the WNBA with 36.5 rebounds per game.
