Emraan Hashmi gets diagnosed with Dengue, halts shoot for Pawan Kalyan starrer 'OG': Report
Emraan Hashmi was last seen in 'Ground Zero' and the actor is currently shooting for his next with Pawan Kalyan. This is Hashmi's Telugu debut and the actor was shooting in Mumbai. However, while he was shooting in Mumbai, the actor started feeling unwell and was diagnosed with Dengue as per a recent report. A source was quoted by Bollywood Hungama saying, "Emraan Hashmi was shooting for OG in Aarey Colony, Goregaon, Mumbai. That's where he contracted the disease. He was not feeling well and had dengue-like symptoms. On the recommendation of the doctors, he got his tests done. The test confirmed that he is suffering from dengue.' The report further said, 'He has been advised rest. Emraan, being a thorough professional, immediately told the makers about his condition and expressed regret over his inability to shoot. The makers understood the situation; they told him not to worry and that he should focus on his health as that comes first.' The report quoted the source concluding, 'Emraan Hashmi is resting at home. There's no clarity yet but he'll probably be out of action for a week. Once he recuperates, he'll resume shooting for OG.' Emraan is playing the role of the antagonist in the film. This film titled 'The Call Him OG' or 'Simply OG' for now, is set to release in cinemas on September 25 this year. The film is directed by Sujeeth who had made the Prabhas starrer 'Saaho'. There was a lot of delay on the film and it was back on track but now the shoot has been on halt due to Emraan's health, till the actor completely recovers. Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has been hospitalised following a dengue diagnosis. He is on a break from the film shoot of his upcoming film, as per a report of Hindustan Times. It is believed that Emraan was filming for the Pan-India film, OG, starring Pawan Kalyan when he began feeling sick. Reportedly, the film shoot was taking place at Mumbai's Aarey Colony, Goregaon. He seemingly began experiencing symptoms and was later hospitalised, as per the source. Reportedly, he is now recovering from dengue. The actor's team is yet to confirm the claims. Meanwhile, OG is written and directed by Sujeeth. The upcoming Telugu film will star Pawan Kalyan, Emraan Hashmi and Priyanka Mohan. The action thriller officially marks Emraan Hashmi's Telugu debut. He is said to play the role of Omi Bhau in the film. OG was officially announced in December 2022. The music of the film is handled by Thaman S, while Ravi K. Chandran is taking care of cinematography. The film is set for a worldwide release on 25 September 2025. Reportedly, the production team is hoping to resume the film shoot which has been impacted by Emraan's health. Meanwhile, Emraan was last seen in the film Ground Zero where he appeared as BSF Deputy Commandant Narendra Nath Dube. The film was released on 25 April and received average reviews. It clashed with established releases at the box office like Sunny Deol's Jaat and Akshay Kumar' Kesari 2 amid the tension between India and Pakistan. Besides OG, the actor has several films lined up in the pipeline. This includes yet another Telugu film, G2. The film by Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi is the sequel to Goodachari. It will star Adivi Sesh reprising his role alongside others, including Wamiqa Gabbi and Madhu Shalini. He also has a yet-untitled film with Yami Gautam. Reportedly, it is inspired by the 1985 Shah Bano case, where Shah Bano's husband, Mohd. Ahmed Khan who refused to pay her maintenance after a triple talaq. In the film, Emraan will reportedly essay the role of Shah Bano's husband.

Awarapan co-starring Shriya Saran may have had a lukewarm response at the box office back in the day, but soon garnered a solid fan-base. Not long back, speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Emraan spilled the beans on the much-awaited sequel. 'July end is when we'll start the shoot." In the last one year, the action crime film saw a resurgence on social media with fans making reels, expressing their love for the film, its soundtrack and the chemistry between the lead pair. Despite the health setback, the production team is optimistic about resuming the shoot once Hashmi recovers. A source from the production house shared with us, 'Emraan started feeling uneasy and a doctor was consulted. He was later diagnosed with dengue. He has been advised to rest and will resume the shoot once he recovers.' OG, which is slated for a global release on September 25 this year, marks Emraan's Telugu debut, and he plays the primary role alongside Pawan Kalyan. In a chat with News18 Showsha, Emraan observed that the Hindi film industry is truly lacking the courage to take risks. Talking about why Indian producers avoid risky projects, Emraan said, 'If you put that across to a producer over here, I would say that nine out of ten of them would tell you, 'Are you out of your mind?' It would be a logistical nightmare. Thirteen minutes into a shot, someone may goof up and we would have to do the entire thing again. What would happen to the budget? We would need a director who leads the team, to be audacious and mad enough to make a show that way.' Talking about the scripts he's been reading lately, Emraan Hashmi said many of them feel outdated or too similar to what he's already done. 'I'm like, why can't you see me or a film from a fresh perspective? I know that it's easier said than done. I definitely do say no more than yes. We should at least put out something we believe in rather than something that's run-of-the-mill. The probability of that working is more,' the actor added.
