Nyck de Vries, Sebastien Buemi reflect on ending the season with podium finishes in London
Nyck de Vries and Sebastien Buemi (Image credit: Formula E) It wasn't just Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy who held his top position in London. Mahindra Racing's Nyck de Vries also secured back-to-back podiums by finishing second in both races at the London E-Prix. His strong performance at the ExCeL Arena helped Mahindra finish fourth in the Formula E Teams' Championship and fifth in the Manufacturers' Championship. He was joined on the podium on Sunday by Envision Racing's Sébastien Buemi. Nyck de Vries on his second podium in London Nyck de Vries' double podium in London brought his season tally to three, having also finished second in Monaco. Reflecting on his second consecutive podium, de Vries said, 'It was certainly a very challenging race. Obviously, Nick [Cassidy] didn't want to get too low on energy compared to everyone behind, so he was making sure he stayed on the same energy level as us. That resulted in a bit of a concertina effect behind us. ' He added, 'I'm very pleased to bring home another podium and secure P4 for our team, because they've done an incredible job. To think that last year we qualified last on merit, and now we've come such a long way to finish fourth in the championship — this is a great effort. I'm very proud of everyone at Mahindra.' Sebastien Buemi on his third-place finish in London Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi also earned his third podium of the season in London, finishing third behind Nick Cassidy and Nyck de Vries in Sunday's Round 16. In a heartwarming moment, his three sons joined him on the podium. Buemi had previously won the Monaco E-Prix and taken a podium in Jakarta. Speaking about ending the season on a high while many others were caught in collisions, Buemi said, 'In the end, it was important to not get caught up in those incidents. I think I was lucky enough to avoid them well. I saved quite a bit of energy at the beginning, and that basically allowed me to take Attack Mode properly. So, in the end, I'm very happy with that. It's good for the Teams' Championship, and it's satisfying to finish strong and score good points after a tough qualifying. From screen to cause
When we consider the major forces shaping young minds, entertainment stands alongside education and family. For children, animated stories and characters aren't just enjoyable – they are influential. They become trusted companions, emotional reflections, and even early guides to understanding how the world works. And in a world where the climate crisis is no longer a distant threat but a daily reality, kids' entertainment now has a powerful new role: not just to entertain, but to empower. Climate action can seem daunting, even for adults. However, children bring a unique lens to the table, one filled with curiosity, hope and a refreshing sense of fairness. They want to help. The challenge isn't motivation; it's connection. How do we speak to them in ways that are culturally relevant, emotionally resonant, and age-appropriate? At first glance, climate consciousness might seem like a heavy theme for children's media. But when woven into storytelling with creativity and care, it becomes one of the most powerful tools we have and not only for building values but for building trust. And that trust is where brand value begins. Why this cause matters to brands Millennial and Gen Z parents are increasingly value-driven, and they expect the same from the brands they welcome into their homes. According to Nielsen, 73 per cent of global millennials are willing to pay more for sustainable products, and 81 per cent expect companies to make meaningful environmental improvements. When their children engage with content that promotes sustainability and responsibility, this engagement reflects on the brands that choose to show up in that space. Children's attention spans may be short, but their memories are long In kids' media, the opportunity is unique: content is often co-viewed, discussed at dinner tables and translates into real-world behaviour. Brands that place themselves thoughtfully in this environment aren't just buying impressions, they're becoming part of meaningful family dialogue. Climate-conscious programming doesn't just align with a cause, it delivers cultural relevance, emotional depth and long-term loyalty. What climate-conscious content offers When a major entertainment network partners with an environmental group, the result isn't just awareness – it's action. Think: Water Week, social media challenges and storylines that blend fun with real-world impact. These aren't just campaigns – they're invitations for kids to get involved. We have brought climate subjects into storylines in ways that feel playful, accessible and empowering, turning climate awareness into something tangible, repeatable and positive. Whether it's e-waste awareness with Envision Racing in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region or tree planting with the Emirates Environmental Group in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, these collaborations highlight how storytelling can make sustainability feel exciting and achievable. With more than 16.1 million digital impressions, results show that we were able to use familiar faces to deliver important messages. And for brands that align with content promoting meaningful action? They're remembered not just for their products but for what they stand for. How the cause builds long-term brand equity (or playground creds) Children's attention spans may be short, but their memories are long. The associations they form now, between characters they love, and the values they absorb, will shape how they see the world and the brands in it for years to come. Generation Alpha is already showing signs of being ethically motivated. Brands that engage them early through value-driven media are investing in long-term relevance. And parents are paying attention, scrutinising where and how their children engage with media. What is this show teaching my kid? What does this brand believe in? Supporting climate-conscious content is one of the clearest signals a brand can send that it understands the bigger picture and respects its audience's values. The message is clear: from cartoons to causes, entertainment is evolving. And the brands that evolve with it – those that choose to empower, not just to entertain – will be the ones that build trust, loyalty and lasting value. Because in the end, children don't just watch what we show them. They learn from it. And brands that choose to be part of that learning journey? They're the ones that stay with them. Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi gets Nico Mueller's Jakarta podium after penalty is revoked
Image credit: Sebastien Buemi/Instagram Coming as major good news for Envision Racing driver Sebastien Buemi, the removal of a time penalty from the last Jakarta race has landed him on the podium. Buemi is now officially promoted to third place, while Nico Mueller, who had originally celebrated a podium alongside Dan Ticktum and Edoardo Mortara at the Jakarta E-Prix, has been moved to fourth. Sebastien Buemi wins third spot on the podium in Jakarta The five-second penalty initially handed to Sebastien Buemi at the Jakarta E-Prix for contact with Mahindra Racing's Edoardo Mortara was recently overturned following a FIA hearing. Due to the penalty, Buemi had finished eighth in Round 12 of the Jakarta race in June. However, the reversal has now reshaped the podium — much to Mueller's disappointment. According to additional footage from Envision Racing's roll hoop camera, which was not available at the time the penalty was applied, was reviewed in detail. Buemi had received the penalty for an on-track collision with Mortara. — FIAFormulaE (@FIAFormulaE) The FIA stated: 'The driver of Car 16 (Buemi) argued that the new element shows his overtaking manoeuvre was legitimate, that he was always in control of his car, and that when the slight contact occurred, he was fully alongside Car 48 (Mortara).' They further added: 'The driver of Car 48 agreed with the assessment and mentioned he barely felt the contact. Upon careful consideration of the circumstances, the Stewards find that no single party bears whole or predominant responsibility for the collision. Therefore, the Stewards decide to reverse Decision 12. As a result, the penalty (i.e., five-second time penalty and one penalty point) on Car 16 is removed, and no further action will be taken in relation to this collision. ' Sebastien Buemi's performance in 2025 Formula E season With this update, Buemi moved to 10th in the Formula E Driver Standings with 63 points. In addition to his newly awarded Jakarta podium, he also has one win this season, in the Monaco E-Prix during Round 7. Berlin E-Prix: What's so special about this annual Formula E race
Image credit: Formula E Season 11 of Formula E is now nearing its close, with four races remaining across two venues. Next up is the Berlin E-Prix, scheduled from July 11–13. Berlin is the only venue to have hosted a Formula E race every season since the championship's inception, making it one of the most special events on the calendar for multiple reasons. It has been held annually without a miss since 2015, and its scenic venue — the historic Tempelhof Airport — adds to its charm. Here are some interesting facts about Rounds 15 and 16 of the Formula E season in Berlin. What sets the Berlin E-Prix apart One look at the Tempelhof circuit explains why the Berlin E-Prix is so special. With imposing aircrafts parked on one side of the barrier and a vast expanse of open space on the other, it's arguably one of the most picturesque tracks in motorsport. Formula E cars are second only to airplanes when it comes to reaching top speeds — hitting 322 km/h in less than a minute. The most distinctive aspect of the Tempelhof Airport circuit is that it was originally designed for airplanes to take off and land, making it a unique surface for electric racing. What's challenging about the Tempelhof Circuit? The surface of the 2.343 km-long Tempelhof circuit is composed of layered concrete slabs designed for aircraft operations. While it supports Formula E racing, it presents challenges in energy management, tyre wear, and grip. The hot summer temperatures in Berlin can further test the drivers. Despite that, the wide layout, long corners, and even an indoor tunnel make the track exciting and full of overtaking opportunities. Past Berlin E-Prix winners The Berlin E-Prix is a home race for DS Penske driver Maximilian Gunther. He won the event in 2020 and secured a third-place finish in 2023. The German driver recently expressed his excitement on Instagram. Reflecting on the Jakarta race, Gunther wrote, 'Didn't go our way this Saturday in Jakarta. Thanks for all the love, Indonesia. Now all eyes on Berlin – my home race.' However, it is TAG Heuer Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa who holds the record for the most Berlin E-Prix wins, having triumphed three times — twice in 2020 and once in 2024. Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi, Lola Yamaha ABT's Lucas di Grassi, and TCS Jaguar Racing's Nick Cassidy have each won the race twice.
