King Salman Global Academy launches Arabic equestrian glossary
RIYADH: The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language in collaboration with the Equestrian Authority has launched an Arabic glossary of equestrian terms. The resource targets enthusiasts and individuals interested in equestrianism and horses, aligning with the academy's strategic goals to develop specialized glossaries that support the objectives of the Human Capability Development Program, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, the academy's secretary-general, highlighted its role as Saudi Arabia's primary Arabic language reference, with its glossary development efforts serving key sectors. He said the significant cultural importance of equestrianism in the Kingdom had led to the development of the glossary, which includes terms for competitions, participation, horse descriptions, Arabian breed distinctions, colors, and ages. The dictionary is an authoritative reference work, with a complete vocabulary of horsemanship. Scholars and enthusiasts can readily access precise information, while the dictionary also serves the vital purpose of cultural preservation. By recording the rich terminology Arab horsemen have employed throughout history, the resource ensures that traditional equestrian knowledge and linguistic heritage will endure for generations to come, he added. The academy's objectives for the dictionary include bolstering academic research in Arabic linguistics and history by offering rich equestrian terminology, enhancing digital and print Arabic content with thorough horsemanship information, and establishing collaboration with the Equestrian Authority to continuously update the reference work with new definitions reflecting evolving needs in the field. Crown Prince Hands Saudi Cup Trophy to ‘Forever Young'
Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attended the Saudi Cup horse racing ceremony on Saturday evening at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh. Upon his arrival, the Crown Prince was received by Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Equestrian Authority and the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA) Prince Bandar bin Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, and Board Member of the JCSA and technical committees Chairman Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz. The royal anthem was played before the race began. Participating horses then moved from the saddling area to the parade ring, where all the competing jockeys were present. Following the commencement of the ninth race for the Saudi Cup, the Crown Prince proceeded to the presentation podium and congratulated Susumu Fujita, the representative of the winning horse Forever Young, who lifted the Saudi Cup trophy. The Crown Prince also extended his congratulations to the horse's trainer, Yoshito Yahagi, and jockey Ryusei Sakai, both of whom received a horse statuette and a jockey's helmet. Commemorative photos were taken to mark the occasion. Several princes, ministers, and high-ranking officials from the Kingdom and abroad attended the event.
