How Notre Dame football will score its annual Blue-Gold Spring Game on Saturday The Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team will be back on the field this coming Saturday, and what you will see won't quite resemble what normal football looks like. Mainly, it is due to the Irish trying to limit injuries, and with that in mind they will score the game much differently than we are accustomed to. In a social media post from Eric Hansen of Inside ND Sports, he broke down how Notre Dame will score its spring game. A normal touchdown plus extra point will be seven points, but the offense will also get a point for each first down, two points for an explosive play over 20-yards, the normal three points for a field goal and two points for a two-point conversion. On defense is where it gets very interesting, as typically the only points they would score is on a turnover. That won't be what we see on Saturday, as they'll get a point for forcing a punt, five points for a takeaway in plus territory, seven for a takeaway in minus territory, a whopping twelve points for a defensive touchdown, a point for a tackle-for-loss, two points for a sack, three points for blocking a field goal, two points for a point after touchdown return or failed two point attempts or a forth down stop or missed field goal and finally three points for a 4th down stop in minus territory. All of these adjustments tell us that they'll like be testing the first team offense more than what we would normally see in a spring game, due to the fact that a starting quarterback has yet to emerge. While these will be significantly different rules, we will get to see Notre Dame football back on the field, even though its just a tease until the regular season gets going.

Like Batman and Robin, bacon and bourbon just go together, but instead of fighting crime, they battle culinary mediocrity in all its dastardly forms. Banishing the bland, elevating ordinary dishes and giving tastebuds a reason to live, these two foods will be celebrated Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23 during the 11th Annual Wellington Bacon & Bourbon Fest at the Wellington Town Center. Simultaneously salty, sweet, crispy and chewy, and able to break even the most diehard vegans and vegetarians (just kidding, but you know it's true), the prized pieces of cured pork known as bacon will be presented in ways that you may have never considered even your most wild, fevered dreams (yes, some people do dream about bacon). Delight in dishes like bacon teriyaki chicken, garlic ginger bourbon candied bacon on a stick, corn & bacon fritters, and much, much more including the sandwiches known as the forever roasted bourbon BBQ pork & bacon sandwich! Bourbon, the barrel-aged American whiskey that is always made with at least 51% corn, will stand on equal ground at the event. The festival will feature over 30 different bourbons and whiskeys for patrons' pleasure as well as beer, wine and a full bar able to craft the libations of your choosing. Featuring these two super foods, the event itself has even garnered national attention and has been featured on The Cooking Channel show "Carnival Eats." In addition to bacon and bourbon, which sit atop many pyramids, there will be multiple live music acts both days. On Saturday, the amazing guitarist and composer Eric Hansen will kick things off, followed by Bobby 'G,' then Rob Arenth and finally Jason Colannino & 4Peace Band. On Sunday, Eric Hansen will once again kick things off followed later by Jerry Leeman who will close out the event. Like any good festival these days, visitors will also get to browse and buy arts, crafts, plants, jewelry and more from a multitude of vendors. There will be limited free general parking at the Wellington Amphitheater, but there are also two park and walk options. The first is Chancellor Corporate Center at 2008 S. Shore Blvd. and the second is Village of Wellington/Village Hall. at 12300 Forest Hill Blvd. There will pedicabs running to assist festival goes to and from the event.
