AFC Wimbledon edge out Gillingham on penalties at Priestfield
Antwoine Hackford gave League One Wimbledon the lead, only for Ethan Coleman to make it 1-1 and ensure penalties. Home striker Marcus Wyllie was thwarted in the early stages by Wimbledon goalkeeper Joe McDonnell, before the visitors took the lead just after the half hour. Hackford was played through on goal by Omar Bugiel and the striker produced a clinical finish from just inside the box to beat Gills keeper Jake Turner. However the League Two team battled back, enjoying a lot of possession in the closing stages. They equalised in the 83rd minute when Ethan Coleman headed home Max Clark's corner from close range, taking the tie to penalties. Jonny Williams missed his spot-kick for Gareth Ainsworth's hosts, with Josh Andrews seeing his attempt saved by McDonnell. Smith stepped up and had his first attempt saved but, following a decision to have it retaken, he made no mistake at the second attempt to put the visitors into the hat for the second round.
