Ohio State football staff tightens players' lead in 'June Olympics' after winning Euchre

Ohio State football staff tightens players' lead in 'June Olympics' after winning Euchre The Ohio State football program continued its summer competition it's calling the "June Olympics," on Monday. What better way to pass the time during the dead period than a friendly competition of various sports and games between the players and staff? To date, the players have had the upper hand, going into the latest event with a 5-3 lead. The latest competition stepped outside of the physical, athletic realm and dove into card playing. It's just the sort of competition the older staff members likely needed after falling behind by two points because of a dodgeball win by the players last week. And, wouldn't you know it, the staff came through, winning a Euchre competition to pull to within one point at 5-4. It had a lot of drama with the score nip and tuck until the staff took the momentum at the end to tighten things up. You can get the highlights of the win thanks to the "X" account (formerly Twitter) of Ohio State Football below. As always, we're not sure what the next event is, or even how many competitions are set to take place in the month of June, but so far, we've been getting a look at an "Olympic event" every other day or so. We'll see what the future holds and if the staff can even things up, or if the players again put a little separation between themselves and the guys with a little seasoning on their ages. Danville Alderman Bob Iverson dies at 74

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Robert 'Bob' Iverson, an alderman on the Danville City Council, has died, at the age of 74 years old. An obituary published by Sunset Funeral Home said Iverson died on Thursday in Peoria. Danville AMBUCS selects 92nd First Citizen Born in Chicago and raised in Glenview, Iverson attended Southern Illinois University, where he met his wife Judith, and settled in Danville. He worked in both the news and public relations industries, as a reporter for WITY radio, a spokesperson for Danville School District 118, and the Communications Coordinator for the Danville medical center and the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center at the University of Illinois. 'Bob always looked at his job as a way to help people, whether it is by providing news, helping the public through community relations, or detailing ways people can cut pollution,' the Iverson family wrote. 'He always took his job seriously, but not himself. He was always quick to have a joke or funny comment about a situation. He enjoyed staying busy in the community and playing Euchre with his friends.' In addition to his career in journalism and public relations, Iverson was elected twice as a Danville alderman — in 1987 and in 2019 — and he used to be Vice Mayor. He was an avid Chicago baseball fan, loved photography and was a cigar aficionado, his family added. Iverson is survived by his wife, two daughters, a grandson and his three siblings. A visitation is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville, followed by a celebration of life at 10 a.m. on Friday at the First Presbyterian Church. Memorials in his memory may be made to the church. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
