UK retailer Game is canceling some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, so you may want to check yours

UK retailer Game has announced the cancelation of some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders The reasoning is unclear, but it's likely the company doesn't have enough stock to fulfil all orders The retailer took to social media to encourage those affected to visit its support page If you're in the UK and got a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order from high street retailer Game, then you may want to check your emails. That's because the retailer, as reported by Eurogamer, has confirmed that it has canceled an unspecified number of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders. The reason why is unclear, but it's usually down to a retailer fulfilling more orders than it realistically has stock for. In a post on X / Twitter, the official Game account released a statement regarding the cancelations. "We're currently working hard to reinstate as many affected pre-orders as possible," the statement reads. "If your order was impacted, please know that we're doing everything we can and will be in touch with further updates and next steps." You can see the full post below. Game also encourages those who have experienced a pre-order cancelation to visit its customer support page. The cancelation of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders has been a surprisingly common occurrence recently. Over in the US, customers who pre-ordered the console at Walmart, Target and GameStop have reported cancelations on social media sites like Reddit. It isn't all doom and gloom as some retailers, including CostCo in the US and Smyths Toys in the UK, are currently confirming they will have launch day stock and - in the case of the latter - a midnight launch for the Nintendo Switch 2. If you have been affected by Game's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order cancelations, be sure to hit up the retailer's support page or visit our own how to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 guide advice on what to do next. Roll7's 'OlliOlli World' and 'Rollerdrome' are back on Steam

Their creators might be gone, but OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome are finally back on Steam, based on listings spotted by Eurogamer . Both games were delisted from storefronts like Steam and the Xbox Games Store following publisher Take-Two's decision to shutdown developer Roll7, Intercept Games and publishing label Private Division a little over a year ago. OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome represent diverging, but equally great examples of what made Roll7 special. They're thoughtful, visually stylish games about skateboarding and rollerblading that capture the zen-like state you can enter pulling off multiple tricks in a row (plus or minus a mascot costume and a shotgun). Eurogamer notes that Take-Two always planned to put both games back on sale when it originally delisted them, it just took a lot longer to bring them back than expected. 2K, another Take-Two subsidiary, is now serving as the publisher. When the company closed Private Division, not every game stayed at Take-Two. The publisher continues to back games like No Rest for the Wicked from the developer of Ori and the Blind Forest , but a collection of other in-development projects were sold to Haveli Investments, Bloomberg reports. The investment firm brought on former Annapurna Interactive staff to manage the slate following the implosion of that indie-focused publisher and developer in September 2024.

Nintendo Switch 2 specs revealed: What's powering the next gen gaming handheld?

Last month, Nintendo announced the Switch 2, its newest handheld gaming console. Set to hit shelves on June 5 this year, the upcoming console packs in a much more powerful chipset, has a bigger screen and an extra USB-C port. Recently, Nintendo unveiled the technical specifications for the Switch 2, but the official details are a bit vague. However, a new report by Eurogamer gives us a deeper look into what's powering Nintendo's new console. According to the Switch 2's official page, the upcoming console is said to be powered by a 'custom processor made by NVIDIA', but the publication suggests that Nintendo is going with an octa-core ARM Cortex A78C that has a max clock speed of 1.7GHz. Two of the eight cores are reserved for the system, which means developers will have access to only six cores. As for the GPU, Nintendo seems to be using an Nvidia GPU based on the Maxwell architecture, which powers the RTX 30 series cards. Like the CPU, some of the GPU resources are also reserved by the system. Nintendo has already confirmed Switch 2 also supports hardware backed ray tracing as well as DLSS, Nvidia's AI powered upscaling algorithm. On the memory front, the handheld sports 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of storage. All of this is powered by a 5,220mAh battery which the company says will last up to 6.5 hours. To give you a quick recap, Nintendo revealed last month that the Switch 2 has a 7.9-inch LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR support and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot that lets you expand the storage up to 2TB. The Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $449.99 and comes with grip and straps for the new controller, a high speed HDMI cable, charging adapter and a USB-C cable.

The Switch 2's official specs have dropped, and it's a huge upgrade

After much speculation, we finally know the exact hardware specs for the Nintendo Switch 2, and they offer a massive upgrade over its predecessor. Eurogamer revealed the specs, courtesy of Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter, and the numbers show a system significantly more powerful than the original Nintendo Switch, but one that still has certain limitations that developers will need to work around. First up, the Nintendo Switch 2 has double the cores of the original, sporting a total of eight with two reserved for system operations and six available to developers. It also features six times the number of CUDA cores, at 1536 compared to its predecessor's 256. Recommended Videos The Switch 2's listed CPU clock speed is actually lower than the Switch's, but the other hardware upgrades mean you won't feel a drop in performance. The differences are negligible, though, with a speed of 998MHz while docked versus the Switch's 1020MHz. The Switch 2 has a maximum clock speed of 1.7GHz, while the original had a maximum clock speed of 1.785GHz. Digital Foundry: Nintendo Switch 2 Confirmed Specs: CPU, GPU, Memory, System Reservation + More — Wario64 (@ 2025-05-14T14:03:55.247Z The GPU clock speed is nothing to scoff at, either, maxing out at 1.4GHz where the original maxed out at 921MHz. The system will have lower speeds while in handheld mode (as expected), but will still outperform the Switch in every measurable way. Beyond that, the Switch 2's memory is greatly improved at 128-bit DDR5 with four times the bandwidth while docked. That's 102GB per second compared to the original Switch's 25.6GB per second, and you will absolutely feel that difference in gameplay. Without an upgrade like this, the Switch wouldn't be able to scale games up 4K resolution. Finally, the system will reserve 3GB of memory for itself, leaving 9GB available for games. These are a lot of numbers (and you can get an even more technical deep dive by watching Digital Foundry's video), but it boils down this: the Nintendo Switch 2 presents a generational leap in power. Its final performance will come down to the individual games, however, and how the developers optimize the titles for this new platform. The Nintendo Switch 2 won't be on par with the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5, but it's a lot closer than it was. The upgraded power is necessary, especially with the inclusion of Game Chat. Nintendo expects the service to have an impact on performance, and some of that has been visible in the teaser videos so far (the cameras had noticeable lag). That said, Nintendo has pulled off something of an engineering marvel with the Switch 2, packing the console full of high-end specs that make it a worthwhile competitor to other handhelds like the Steam Deck. Getting a look at the specs makes it clear how Nintendo was able to get demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077 to not only run on the console but look good doing it, avoiding the issues that sprang up with ports like The Witcher 3 on the original Switch.

The next Battlefield game will launch sometime before April 2026

Electronic Arts has confirmed that the next Battlefield game will be revealed this summer, ahead of a launch date some time before April 2026. The news was shared in the company's Q4 and and financial year 2025 results , published this week. EA CEO Andrew Wilson called the latest installment in the long-running first-person shooter series a 'pivotal step in delivering on our next generation of blockbuster entertainment' and recommitted to a previously announced FY26 release window for the currently untitled game. That means it can't launch any later than March 2026, when EA's fiscal year ends. A launch date before April next year would mean the new Battlefield game will get a bit of room to breathe before the recently delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 , which is supposed to arrive on May 26, 2026. Like every other publisher on the planet, EA has likely factored GTA 6 into its own upcoming launch plans for a number of titles. Eurogamer reported earlier this year that Wilson had admitted a willingness to delay games in order to get out of the way of the (unnamed, but heavily implied) competition. The most recent Battlefield game was 2021's Battlefield 2042 , to which EA has steadily added new content. Back in February, EA launched Battlefield Labs , a community testing initiative that allows registered fans to playtest and give feedback on series fundamentals such as combat, destruction, vehicles and map designs. EA also confirmed in an investor call that it currently has no plans to increase the price of its games, following the recent Xbox price hike and Nintendo making the decision to charge a whopping $80 for Mario Kart World on its upcoming Switch 2.
