Eva Longoria Goes Strapless in Willy Chavarria Dress for CNN's ‘Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain' New York City Screening
Eva Longoria joined a string of special guests for the CNN special screening of her forthcoming series 'Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain' on Monday in New York City. The series follows the 'Flamin' Hot' filmmaker across Spain as she discovers and connects with the cuisine, culture and people of the country. For the special red carpet occasion, Longoria opted for a contemporary design courtesy of Willy Chavarria. The 'Desperate Housewives' alum styled a strapless midi dress in a shade of dark charcoal with buttons running down the front placket of the garment. Longoria complemented the dress with a pair of white, pointed toe pumps. As for accessories, Longoria went minimal, save for a pair of statement earrings. When it came to her glam, Longoria's makeup featured bold brows, a smokey eye and a glossy lip courtesy of Carolina Gonzalez. The actress, filmmaker and producer's hair was styled in a sleek, straight style with a side part by stylist Ricardo Rojas. Longoria's look was curated by stylist Maeve Reilly. Over the course of the last few years, designer Willy Chavarria has made a name for himself as a bold new voice in fashion. The Mexican American designer curates his eponymous label around empowerment, particularly focusing on identity and fashion as an extension of personhood. 'Growing up mixed race in a Mexican American environment, mostly Mexicans, it was immigrants who were living in the town that I grew up in, and given the fact that my parents had met after desegregation, I was always very aware of the politics behind race. So when I started my own label — and just living my life — I felt it was very important to share that awareness with others, and I've incorporated the need for equality and the need for recognition of Latino empowerment in all my work,' Chavarria told WWD in September 2024. The CNN series 'Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain' follows Longoria through the country and into cities like Madrid and Barcelona as she mingles with locals, tries new food and connects with the culture. Eva Longoria explores 'family heritage' on Searching for Spain
Eva Longoria learned about her "Spanish heritage" while shooting her new documentary. The 50-year-old actress previously explored the culture and food of Mexico on 'Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico', her 2023 documentary series - but Eva admits that she learned much more about her own family heritage while filming the follow-up series, 'Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain'. The Hollywood star - who has Mexican and Spanish ancestry - told Byrdie: "I'm Mexican American and I always felt at home in Mexico. "I knew [the country] and learned even more while doing 'Searching for Mexico'. But my dad had always said we were also from Spain. I used to say, 'No, we're not.' Then I took a DNA test, and it was confirmed." Eva jumped at the chance to film a follow-up series in Spain, and it proved to be hugely informative for the actress. She said: "When CNN wanted to do the next season, I said, 'We should do Spain because my ancestors are from Spain.' Shooting 'Searching for Spain' was different, though, because I didn't know [the country] as well. "In this series, you'll see that my questions are genuine and my curiosity is heightened. I was excited to learn more about my Spanish heritage." Eva loves that she has such a personal connection to the new documentary series. The actress said: "Being able to shape the storytelling of the series has been vital because I am the way in for the audience. "I wanted it to be relevant to my journey and everybody's journey. Everybody can watch the show and relate to someone. Authentic storytelling is important because you want stories from those who have lived them. That's been important in my life, in general, not just with this show." Eva actually splits her time between Mexico and Spain, and the actress previously explained her decision to leave the US. Eva - who was born in Texas and previously lived in Los Angeles - said on 'The View: Behind the Table' podcast: "I've been in Europe for almost three years. "I didn't leave because of the political environment. I left because my work took me there."

Throughout she will explore her ties to the country and share her own hidden gems. In the first look trailer, released in February, Eva explained that her ancestors left Spain four centuries ago. Eva said: 'Eleven generations ago, one of my ancestors left Spain for the new world and new life. 'Four hundred years later, I'm back to see how the land and its people have created one of the world's most exciting cuisines.' Her appearance at the screening comes shortly after she appeared on Live With Kelly And Mark on Monday morning to discuss her recent move to Europe. The star splits her time between Mexico and Spain with husband Jose Baston and their five-year-old son Santiago. Eva revealed she was drawn to the Andalucia region of Spain. Speaking to the morning show hosts Eva said: 'I know that region the most because I've been going there for 20 years.' Eva also discussed the passing of Pope Francis, after she paid tribute to the beloved Catholic figure online. She shared a memorable story of meeting him two months before her 2016 wedding to Jose. The actress said: 'I was so fortunate to meet him. He actually blessed Pepe and I right before we got married. 'We went to Rome and my husband was like, "Do you want to meet the Pope?" And I was like, "Yes!"'
