Ex-Georgia QB Carson Beck's Massive NIL Deal With Miami Revealed
Ex-Georgia QB Carson Beck's Massive NIL Deal With Miami Revealed originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In the NIL era of college football, quarterbacks don't have to make the NFL to become millionaires. Signal-callers are reaching paydays in the multi-millions per season at the college level. Advertisement There's few better examples of that than former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck. On3's Pete Nakos reported Sunday that Beck will make in excess of $4 million to play for the Miami Hurricanes this fall. "One thing is clear: The price of an elite quarterback is not dropping," Nakos wrote. "In this year's college football transfer portal, jaw-dropping quarterback numbers included a $3 million offer from Duke for Darian Mensah. "Georgia's Carson Beck transferred to Miami and stands to make more than $4 million. Missouri agreed to terms on a $1.5 million deal with Penn State transfer Beau Pribula in December, too." Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck© Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The Bobby Carpenter Show host Anthony Schlegel said during the first week of June that Beck was going to make $4.3 million with his NIL deal in 2025. Advertisement Schlegel said that is ranked second-highest in college football behind only Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning. Beck announced his decision to transfer from Georgia to Miami on January 10, which was just a little more than a week after the Bulldogs suffered their playoff defeat to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Beck didn't play in that game because of an elbow injury, which he sustained in the SEC Championship Game versus Texas. During his final season with the Bulldogs, Beck completed 64.7% of his passes for 3,485 passing yards with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The quarterback posted significantly better statistics during 2023. Advertisement In Miami, Beck will replace quarterback Cam Ward, who became the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Instead of playing football this fall, the former wideout will go back to the University of Georgia to earn a film degree. "Veteran NFL WR Chris Conley, who most recently played for the 49ers, has decided to retire after 10 seasons to follow his dream his agent Jonathan Perzley of Sportstars said," post Rapoport on X. "Conley is heading to film school back at UGA to pursue dreams of being a film maker. So cool." Conley is retiring after 10 seasons in the NFL. Future Georgia Star QB Jared Curtis' First Instagram Posts After Major Announcement
The Georgia Bulldogs landed their quarterback of the future Monday. Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis was originally committed to the Bulldogs early in the 2026 recruiting cycle. After reopening his recruitment, though, Curtis officially re-committed to Georgia on Monday. Advertisement The quarterback posted a highlight reel Monday with several announcers providing a voiceover to the outstanding plays as his first Instagram post after announcing his final recruiting decision at his high school. At the end of hype video, though, the message was rather short and simple. ""I'm thankful. I'm ready. I'll see y'all in Athens," said Curtis. The quarterback's nine-word message was also included in the video in subtitle form. The quarterback visited both Georgia and Oregon multiple times during his recruitment process. Advertisement Dawg Nation's Jeff Sentell reported in January that Curtis also considered the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes and South Carolina Gamecocks. Curtis' decision to re-commit to Georgia gives the Bulldogs a bright future behind center. It could also provide the program a huge boost in recruiting. Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell is expected to make his recruiting decision on May 13. On3's Steven Wiltfong has considered the Bulldogs the front runner throughout Cantwell's recruitment, and the offensive tackle congratulated Curtis on Monday. Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi are competing for the starting quarterback role for the Bulldogs this fall. Both signal-callers will still have college eligibility when Curtis arrives on campus in 2026. Advertisement Depending on how this fall goes, though, Curtis has the potential to be an immediate starter for the Bulldogs. Nico Iamaleava Throws Shade at Tennessee With Latest Message
Former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava has finally broken his silence on his decision to enter the transfer portal, publicly refuting allegations that he intended to sit out the College Football Playoff game against the Ohio State Buckeyes. '(Expletive) I tried to sit out and throw the playoff game too?" Iamaleava wrote on his Instagram Story on Friday, posting photos from the game. "These boys just make me laugh man ain't no way.' Advertisement He piled on the sarcasm with a photo of himself and teammate Navy Shuler, joking they'd conspired to 'throw this game (real quick)'—complete with laughing emojis. These posts come in the wake of reports that Iamaleava leveraged his participation in the playoff to negotiate a new NIL deal with the Volunteers. The messages no longer appear on Iamaleava's Instagram Story. After missing practice the next day, head coach Josh Heupel confirmed the quarterback's departure, sparking speculation about his next move. Now in the transfer portal, Iamaleava's name continues to be linked to the UCLA Bruins. According to Nakos, the deal has yet to be completed, but the smoke around the West Coast interest isn't fading. Advertisement The ongoing saga highlights the tightrope walk of NIL deals in modern college football, which many analysts have pointed out could hamper the growth of the game. Tennessee may also need to turn to the transfer portal to find the team's next quarterback. If not, Jake Merklinger or George MacIntyre are next in line to win the starting job.
