Pair of Black Bears selected by Topeka in FPHL Expansion Draft
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Following the latest FPHL season, during which Binghamton was able to run it back as back-to-back Commissioners Cup champions, two players are making their way to the center of the United States to continue their FPHL careers. The Topeka Scarecrows will be one of the newest teams to enter the FPHL, and during the expansion draft, they selected Binghamton's Donald Olivieri and Christopher Mott. Olivieri is coming off his third season with Binghamton and has played a crucial role for the Black Bears in recent history. In the past two postseasons, he tallied six goals and nine assists in 15 games. Mott was a new signing last summer and scored a goal in the Empire Division Finals. These selections do not guarantee that they will play for the Scarecrows, but their contract rights are owned by Topeka. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Black Bears gearing up to Run It Back
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Last season, the Binghamton Black Bears secured their first championship since 2011, bringing home the Commissioners Cup championship in the FPHL. Now, they are taking that same road again, heading back to the playoffs this weekend for a chance to go back-to-back. The Black Bears were the top team in the Empire Division and the FPHL, tying the record for most wins in a season. The team is now set to face off against the Watertown Wolves, whom they have faced eight times this year and only lost to once, 5-3, way back on October 12th. The push to go back to back officially gets underway tomorrow in Watertown, and as the Bears have been saying all season, they are looking to run it back. 'This is the fourth straight year that the Black Bears have made the playoffs, and the team motto all year, from day one of training camp, has been run it back, and now it's finally time for that opportunity,' said Director of Media Relations & Broadcasting Brooks Hill. The game gets underway in Watertown tomorrow for game one at 7:30 pm. There will be a watch party in downtown Binghamton at Craft for anyone who would like to cheer on the Bears as they look to bring another FPHL title back to Binghamton.
