Muscat: Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), on Tuesday received Abdulla Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The two sides discussed ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between Oman and Bahrain, expanding opportunities for private sector partnerships in both countries through joint ventures and knowledge exchange, contributing to bilateral relations and economic integration. The meeting also reviewed opportunities in key economic sectors of mutual interest and explored mechanisms to activate the private sector's role in establishing joint projects that support economic development in both nations. Al Rowas emphasised the significant progress in economic relations between Oman and Bahrain, expressing hope that this meeting would lead to further initiatives boosting trade and investment cooperation while opening new avenues for business owners in promising economic sectors. He highlighted the private sector's pivotal role in driving future cooperation through strategic partnerships and high-quality projects that align with both countries' development visions—"Oman Vision 2040" and "Bahrain 2030"—while praising the efforts of the Oman-Bahrain Investment Company and the Oman-Bahrain Friendship Society in strengthening bilateral ties. The meeting was attended by several OCCI board members, executive officials, and representatives from both sides.

Oman-East Africa Business Conference kicks off

Muscat: The Oman-East Africa Business Conference and the East Africa Trade and the Investment Expo 'ITEX 2025' began on Monday. Organised by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in collaboration with Global Digital Technologies Company, the events are held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Thuwaini Saif Al Said. The conference aims to strengthen regional economic ties, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, investors, and trade representatives from East African nations, including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, and Rwanda, alongside the Sultanate of Oman. More than 20 economic experts are participating, while over 30 companies from Oman and East Africa are showcasing the latest technologies, solutions, and services in sectors such as agriculture, clean energy, manufacturing, and technology at the accompanying exhibition. The conference explores cooperation opportunities in key sectors, including trade and investment, sustainable development and renewable energy, fintech and digital transformation, infrastructure and logistics, agribusiness and food security, education and human capital development, and innovation. Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the OCCI Board of Directors, stated that this conference represents a strategic opportunity to enhance economic and trade cooperation between Oman and East African nations. He emphasised that hosting this event reflects the Chamber's deep belief in the importance of building effective regional partnerships that support sustainable development and open new avenues for collaboration in vital and promising sectors. In his speech, Al Rowas noted that Oman's historical ties with Africa run deep, with centuries-old cultural and commercial links between Oman and East Africa. These connections have fostered trade, knowledge exchange, and strong human and economic relationships, forming a solid foundation for joint cooperation. He affirmed that these ties are now entering a new phase of growth and integration, driven by a shared vision for a common economic future and led by the private sector on both sides. For his part, Faiz Mohammed Al Shukaili, CEO of Global Digital Technologies Company, stated that organizing the Oman-East Africa Business Conference and ITEX 2025 expo comes at a crucial time, reflecting Oman's commitment to deepening regional economic integration with East Africa. He described the conference as a vital opportunity to explore new horizons for cooperation and partnership, gathering in one platform many top government officials, business leaders, investors, and decision-makers from key sectors. Al Shukaili added that the conference marks the beginning of a more prosperous phase in Oman-East Africa partnerships, serving as a strategic platform for direct economic dialogue and exploring investment opportunities in sectors critical to sustainable development. These opportunities will enhance private sector engagement, facilitate consensus-building, and lead to tangible commercial and investment projects.

Omani-Russian Business Forum opens new vistas of bilateral investments

Muscat: As part of the visit of Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan, to the Sultanate of Oman, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Monday organised an Omani-Russian Business Forum. The forum was aimed to develop commercial relations between the two countries. It discussed ways to consolidate economic and investment cooperation and open up new vistas for investment and partnership in various vital sectors. It also elaborated on enhancing commercial exchange and exploring promising investment opportunities, notably in the sectors of agriculture, tourism, trade, fisheries, livestock and construction. The forum targeted investors, producers, exporters, importers, wholesale companies and government departments. During the forum, Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov stressed that the Republic of Dagestan attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman in various fields and such forums represent milestones in developing future partnerships between the two sides. For his part, OCCI Chairman Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, said that the Omani-Russian Forum embodies the Chamber's vision for upgrading cooperation between Oman and Dagestan as part of the OCCI's strategy to develop commercial and economic ties with different countries of the world. Al Rowas pointed out that the forum constitutes a starting point for further fruitful cooperation, motivates businesses and companies and enhances the Chamber's role in supporting entrepreneurship and achieving national economic goals. During the forum, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Dagestan. The MoU seeks to expand cooperation between the two parties in several vital economic sectors. The forum also featured a visual presentation titled "Explore the Omani Market". It was presented by Shurooq Hamad Al Farsi, Head of the Committees Department at the OCCI. Shurooq spoke about the investment opportunities available in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as the current economic trends in action. The Dagestani side presented a promotional video featuring investment opportunities in Dagestan, the region's competitive advantages and its economic and commercial importance as a promising investment hub. The forum concluded with bilateral meetings between business owners from both Oman and Russia. The meetings explored avenues for future cooperation and exchanged views about trade and investment opportunities that could benefit all participating parties.
