Fardeen Khan says producers pulled out of his films, father Feroz Khan was 'harsh' on him after 'Prem Aggan' flopped: 'You're on your own'
Fardeen Khan made his debut with his father Feroz Khan 's film 'Prem Aggan'. The film got a lot of criticism and also flopped. While there was a lot of pressure on Fardeen as his father was launching him, he was also harsh on his son after the film didn't do well. In a recent interview, Fardeen opened up on how many people pulled out of his other films after his debut venture failed at the box office. He opened up on Cyrus says podcast when asked about it and said, "Of course, it was tough. Criticism was harsh. People I was suppose to be working with in my next few projects changed their mind and pulled out of the projects. Money had to be returned. It was really a good chance to sit back and think." The actor added that there was a lot of pressure on him. "I had a director who was just not my father, but also an iconic actor. So you're just worried about not getting it wrong. You bury the pressure and put it away, especially in cases like mine whose father is so iconic in so many ways. If you think about that, you're finished. You just try and be honest to yourself and the written word on the script. And you try not to mess it up," he said. He further spoke about his father's reaction and added, "He said, 'We tried, we failed.' I'm putting a roof over your head. I'll pay you an X amount of money every month. After that, you're on your own,' said Fardeen, adding, 'It was a beautiful call. He said I've sent you to one of the best universities of the world. I hope you're prepared to deal with life. This is how life is.' Feroz told Fardeen that he was just 13 when his father passed away and he had a family of five brothers and a sister to look after. "He said, 'I had a vision, I did it. Now, let's see what you're made of.' It was as simple as that. It was really what I had to hear at that time. His love was tough! That just speaks to the kind of guy he was," said the 'No Entry' actor. Fardeen is currently seen in 'Housefull 5' along with Akshay Kumar , Riteish Deshmukh , Abhishek Bachchan and many others. After taking a long break from films, Fardeen Khan decided to resume his acting career during the second lockdown at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. In a recent interaction, the actor recalled that although he was eager to return to films, he didn't know where to begin, having been away from the industry for such a long time. Adding to the challenge was the fact that he had put on some weight and was at 102 kgs during his hiatus. Meet actor whose dad was Bollywood's iconic villain, gave more than 20 flops, vanished for years and now...
Having a superstar parent doesn't always ensure a successful film career, a reality that applies to several actors, including Fardeen Khan. Despite appearing in 21 films, Fardeen has only delivered one box-office hit. After a 13-year hiatus, he made a powerful return with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix series Heeramandi. Now, he is set to continue his comeback journey with a role in the upcoming Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 5. Fardeen Khan, the son of legendary Bollywood actor Feroz Khan, who was once a dominant force in the industry, was introduced to films by his father, who had high hopes for his cinematic journey. Feroz launched Fardeen with Prem Aggan, but unfortunately, the film failed to make an impact and turned out to be a major flop at the box office. Fardeen Khan about family's financial struggles In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Fardeen Khan reflected on his father's journey as a filmmaker, stating that Feroz Khan became a producer with his debut project Apradh, which hit screens in 1972. Fardeen noted that, during that era, producers bore full financial responsibility, often relying on high-interest loans to fund their films, making the process quite daunting. He added that while his family did face difficult times, his upbringing remained grounded, with deliberate efforts to shield him from the industry's glamour and a sense of entitlement. Following a disappointing debut, Fardeen Khan went on to act in more than 20 films, none of which managed to leave a significant impact at the box office. Just as his career seemed to be heading toward decline, he appeared in Heyy Babyy, sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani. Although the film was a commercial success, grossing over Rs 83 crore worldwide and earning the tag of a superhit, it did little to revive Fardeen's struggling career. After delivering a string of box office failures with only one notable hit, Fardeen Khan decided to step away from the limelight and took a 14-year hiatus from acting. His last appearance before the break was in the 2010 film Dulha Mil Gaya, where he starred alongside Sushmita Sen. Fardeen Khan on the work front Fardeen Khan is set to make his next big-screen appearance in Housefull 5, joining a star-studded cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Bajwa, Nagis Fakhri, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Soundarya Sharma, Chitrangada Singh, and more. In addition to this, he is also collaborating with actor Darshan on an upcoming Kannada pan-India film.
