Michael Bay Exits Will Smith Netflix Action Movie "Fast and Loose"
Yara Sameh Netflix is back to searching for a director for "Fast and Loose," after Michael Bay and Will Smith were unable to bridge creative differences and Bay exited the project. "Fast and Loose" stars Smith as a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he's been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent. The script was written by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner, and Eric Pearson. The film has action as well as comic moments, but Bay wanted more emphasis on the former while Smith wanted to lean into the latter. They are looking to shoot in October, and Netflix will lock in a new filmmaker to keep things on track. Bay has plenty else to do. He is discussing with Paramount a return to the Transformers fold with a new version of that tentpole, and he's also percolating at Universal OutRun, an adaptation of the video game that is a star vehicle for Sydney Sweeney. Jayson Rothwell is scripting with Bay and Brad Fuller producing with Sweeney. A reunion between Bay and Smith was significant because their stars launched together with 1995's "Bad Boys." That film was Bay's film directing debut, and it was the vehicle that provided the first glimpse of how well Smith would fare as a charismatic action star. "Fast and Loose" is being produced by Smith's Westbrook Studios and Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Michael Bay in talks to return for Transformers reboot after exiting 'Fast and Loose'
Michael Bay is reportedly in talks with Paramount about returning to direct a new Transformers film, marking his potential comeback to the franchise he first launched in 2007. The development follows Bay's departure from the Netflix and Will Smith project Fast and Loose. According to Deadline, Bay and Smith parted ways over creative differences. Bay had pushed for a more action-driven approach, while Smith preferred to lean into comedy. Fast and Loose, which would have reunited the pair for the first time since Bad Boys, remains in production with Netflix aiming for an October shoot. Smith is still attached to star as a man with no memory who learns he has been living two separate lives, one as a cartel kingpin and another as a CIA agent, while the search for a new director continues. With Fast and Loose no longer on his schedule, Bay is said to be 'discussing with Paramount a return to the Transformers fold with a new version of that tentpole.' Reports indicate that the studio currently has five Transformers projects in various stages of development. These include a potential crossover with G.I. Joe and another live-action entry from Transformers One director Josh Cooley. Bay directed the first five Transformers films between 2007 and 2017, with the series earning over $4 billion worldwide. Beyond Transformers, Bay is also developing OutRun at Universal. Based on the classic video game, the project will star Sydney Sweeney and be produced by Bay alongside Brad Fuller. Jayson Rothwell is writing the script.
