‘Destiny 2: Edge Of Fate' Ending Spoilers – Well That Was Shocking

Destiny 2 After two days, I finally beat the surprisingly lengthy campaign of Destiny: The Edge of Fate, the first entry in the new 'Fate' saga, which is replacing the ten-year-long Light and Darkness saga. While it's clear that far less people are going to show up for this, those that do may find something genuinely interesting, and I would argue far less nebulous than those first few years of Destiny (especially the first game) where it felt like Bungie was making it all up as they went (which they were). Here, it feels like there's a specific plan. And a cool one. I still don't like Kepler as a planet, and I thought the campaign dragged from a gameplay perspective, in addition to being punctuated by unpleasant destination mechanics. However, the story? It's great. It has been a very long time since there was a mystery in Destiny that I've actually had no clue where things were going. Even in The Witch Queen, I had a sneaking suspicion this entire time that Savathun was given the Light by the Traveler rather than stealing it. Here? I had no clue what was going on, and the answers were genuinely stunning. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder There are two major reveals here that I want to discuss, and that very much involves spoilers. The first? I had absolutely zero idea we were going to learn who Ikora was before she was a Guardian, which turns out to be someone who worked with Lodi at the mystical Chicago department that investigates potential alien activity. He knew who she was this entire time, saying she was the best in the business, and only about two-thirds of the way through the campaign does he explain. This was relayed in a fully rendered cutscene that we've never gotten in one of these 'past life' storylines before. The Nine purposefully killed Ikora back then so that she would be raised by her specific Ghost in that specific location centuries later. All leading to this very moment where she will be asked to join forces with Lodi and us to do…something (that comes later). They literally plowed one of their interdimensional subway cars into her, ending the life she used to have but can't remember, one where she had a daughter. Ikora is pissed the rest of the campaign, her life seemingly dictated wholly by The Nine in both her past and present. This leads to a stunning segment near the end which is unfortunately not voiced by either of who two previous voice actresses, rather Savathun's voice actress, Deborah Wilson. It's some sort of complicated VA strike thing, but Mara Junot, the current Ikora actress will actually be re-recording her lines that will be added in later. But Wilson still did a great job in that moment. But yes, stunning reveals for Ikora in the same way we learned about Zavala and Cayde's past previously. But this was even more shocking, and relayed better. No inkblot cutscenes, for one. Destiny 2 The second Big Moment was the grand finale, one that had us attempting to contact III, the member of The Nine who had something big to tell us. This had us entering a zone that I can only compare to the Shadowkeep moment that had us turning a corner and seeing a Pyramid underground for the first time. Here? We enter the space and see the giant, floating, Lovecraftian corpse of III, the first time we've laid eyes on The Nine. Its tentacled body is feeding the problematic black hole plaguing Kepler, and this leads to a wild sequence where we finally learn that we've been powering up Drifter's Haul for years and years with motes leading to this very moment, where we temporarily revive III so he can deliver the message that to prevent annihilation, we must 'bind The Nine,' which appears like it will be the goal of the entire next era of the game. Just a fantastic sequence. All of this makes up what could be the single best storyline I've seen in a Destiny expansion. It's this or Witch Queen, but here? The mysteries? The voicework? The nature and scale of the reveals? I don't know man, it's possible it's the best. I just wish it came with a campaign I actually liked to play, but man, keep this narrative and VA team in place. Rehire the narrative people who no doubt worked on this who got fired. Because this is the best thing Destiny has going for it now. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Star Wars Expansion Set For 'Destiny 2'

Bungie's live-service online shooter Destiny 2 might be eight years old now, but the game is still being supported with new content drops, with the studio revealing two new paid expansions set for this year, which mark the title's next major story arc, the Fate Saga , including one that's themed after Star Wars. First teased late last year, the two expansions will follow the game's Year of Prophecy arc, beginning on 15 July with a paid expansion named The Edge of Fate . According to its announcement post, the expansion will take players to a new location known as Kepler, which will be 'inspired by the puzzle-solving and pathfinding challenges of Destiny 2's dungeons and destination design, which encourages deep exploration, mystery, and player-driven discovery.' Apart from providing new enemies, weapons and gear to discover, The Edge of Fate will also feature destination-specific abilities surrounding its new gameplay system, dark matter energy. This mysterious power source enables the use of new abilities like Matterspark, which can allow Guardians to change forms for both traversal and combat, the Relocator Cannon, which uses Fallen dark matter tech to teleport players across the environment, or Mattermorph, which combines dark matter and Strand to allow players to manipulate their surroundings. The upcoming expansion will also mark the beginning of a new season, Reclamation , which will be accompanied by free updates for all players to shake up the game, including the Portal, described as 'a new activity selection screen that will offer instant access to a range of activities tailored to different playstyles', an Armour 3.0 rework, a new tier system for weapons and armour, and a new shooting range. More free content is set to arrive on 9 September under the title Ash & Iron , although further information on this major update has yet to be detailed. Following The Edge of Fate , the game's second major expansion this year, named Renegades , is set to be themed after the worldwide pop culture phenomenon Star Wars , with its brief trailer showcasing its iconic lightsaber and blasters. Developed in partnership with Lucasfilm, not much is known about the expansion, with Bungie describing it as 'a definitive Destiny expansion with a narrative integral to the Fate Saga ' and that it will introduce 'new Destiny characters, innovative activities, and evolved mechanics designed to surprise and delight players'. Finally, the game's content lineup for Year of Prophecy will close with the Shadow & Order major update on 3 March 2026, promising more content leading up to next year. Pre-orders for both the individual The Edge of Fate expansion and other bundles for the Year of Prophecy's content are now open for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC, with more information listed on its announcement post. ‘Destiny 2' Reveals Next Four ‘Fate Saga' Expansions, New ‘Edge Of Fate' Details

Destiny 2 Bungie The new Destiny 2 saga after Light and Darkness is officially called The Fate Saga, which begins with The Edge of Fate on July 15. Bungie also announced the upcoming four expansions in total, The Edge of Fate, Renegade in December 2025, Shattered Cycle in summer 2026 and The Alchemist in winter 2026. The saga will explore the nature of fate and the foundations of the universe itself. It's focused on the Nine, who we learn are actually nine individual beings with their own personalities, goals and rivalries. They are heavily involved in our solar system and this saga does not appear to be leaving our solar system as previously forecast. The first destination is Kepler, which is not an out-of-solar system planet like it is in real life, but a Nine-infused place at the edge of our system. Vex are there to study the Nine, Fallen are there too. Vex have new units called Kobolds, Fallen have flying corsairs. People have been there for a long time including new Gordon Freeman-looking guy, Koda(sp?). Ikora is the main returning exiting NPC. Destiny 2 Bungie There is a gameplay trailer repeating SIVA directives over and over, though I did not see many other SIVA hints there. Would be odd if it was not involved, given that. There are now World Tiers in zones for better loot farming and harder challenges. Gear also has a new tier system with higher content giving her tiers of loot. In terms of specifics here, D1 exotic No Land Beyond is showing up. There was a new focus on a Kepler-specific mechanic using Dark Matter mixed with our late. Part puzzle, part combat. An example is a guardian turning into a Samus Aran energy ball that can zap energy but go into small spaces for flanking and puzzles. A void ability lets you teleport through laser walls. Strand 'matter morph' lets you move/build objects. A lot of this is puzzle stuff, but also with combat uses. More generally, the idea is that Destiny 2 has too many barriers to play and know what to do, so the new 'portal' screen replaces the planet destination screen to more easily get into activities that are clearly labeled, very quickly, plus reward previews. Destiny 2 Bungie 'Major updates' will be Into the Light scale, not a full season. There are technically season names that span the entire duration of the expansion, so six months, but not formatting like a traditional season. One example is returning to the Plaguelands for Ash and Iron. One activity, one exotic mission. Destiny 2 is finally adding its shooting range back with actual scoreboards and such. They're making a new sparrow that can actually shoot things, available before the season in its Brigs vs. Tank event. Renegades is a very clear homage to Star Wars in addition to being an important part of the Fate saga. This would almost have to be a licensed collaboration given how 'inspired' it is. I'm still processing all this, but it didn't strike me as some new crazy era of Destiny. It really only is plot-wise, it seems. But we'll know more in two months and we can see how it feels then.
