‘Destiny 2: Edge Of Fate' Ending Spoilers – Well That Was Shocking

Destiny 2
After two days, I finally beat the surprisingly lengthy campaign of Destiny: The Edge of Fate, the first entry in the new 'Fate' saga, which is replacing the ten-year-long Light and Darkness saga.
While it's clear that far less people are going to show up for this, those that do may find something genuinely interesting, and I would argue far less nebulous than those first few years of Destiny (especially the first game) where it felt like Bungie was making it all up as they went (which they were). Here, it feels like there's a specific plan. And a cool one.
I still don't like Kepler as a planet, and I thought the campaign dragged from a gameplay perspective, in addition to being punctuated by unpleasant destination mechanics. However, the story? It's great.
It has been a very long time since there was a mystery in Destiny that I've actually had no clue where things were going. Even in The Witch Queen, I had a sneaking suspicion this entire time that Savathun was given the Light by the Traveler rather than stealing it. Here? I had no clue what was going on, and the answers were genuinely stunning.

There are two major reveals here that I want to discuss, and that very much involves spoilers.
The first? I had absolutely zero idea we were going to learn who Ikora was before she was a Guardian, which turns out to be someone who worked with Lodi at the mystical Chicago department that investigates potential alien activity. He knew who she was this entire time, saying she was the best in the business, and only about two-thirds of the way through the campaign does he explain. This was relayed in a fully rendered cutscene that we've never gotten in one of these 'past life' storylines before.
The Nine purposefully killed Ikora back then so that she would be raised by her specific Ghost in that specific location centuries later. All leading to this very moment where she will be asked to join forces with Lodi and us to do…something (that comes later). They literally plowed one of their interdimensional subway cars into her, ending the life she used to have but can't remember, one where she had a daughter.
Ikora is pissed the rest of the campaign, her life seemingly dictated wholly by The Nine in both her past and present. This leads to a stunning segment near the end which is unfortunately not voiced by either of who two previous voice actresses, rather Savathun's voice actress, Deborah Wilson. It's some sort of complicated VA strike thing, but Mara Junot, the current Ikora actress will actually be re-recording her lines that will be added in later. But Wilson still did a great job in that moment. But yes, stunning reveals for Ikora in the same way we learned about Zavala and Cayde's past previously. But this was even more shocking, and relayed better. No inkblot cutscenes, for one.
Destiny 2
The second Big Moment was the grand finale, one that had us attempting to contact III, the member of The Nine who had something big to tell us. This had us entering a zone that I can only compare to the Shadowkeep moment that had us turning a corner and seeing a Pyramid underground for the first time.
Here? We enter the space and see the giant, floating, Lovecraftian corpse of III, the first time we've laid eyes on The Nine. Its tentacled body is feeding the problematic black hole plaguing Kepler, and this leads to a wild sequence where we finally learn that we've been powering up Drifter's Haul for years and years with motes leading to this very moment, where we temporarily revive III so he can deliver the message that to prevent annihilation, we must 'bind The Nine,' which appears like it will be the goal of the entire next era of the game. Just a fantastic sequence.
All of this makes up what could be the single best storyline I've seen in a Destiny expansion. It's this or Witch Queen, but here? The mysteries? The voicework? The nature and scale of the reveals? I don't know man, it's possible it's the best. I just wish it came with a campaign I actually liked to play, but man, keep this narrative and VA team in place. Rehire the narrative people who no doubt worked on this who got fired. Because this is the best thing Destiny has going for it now.

Here's Destiny 2's List Of Disabled Raid Race Gear As Broken Bugs Pile Up

Choir of One Destiny 2 will be launching its Desert Perpetual raid today, and with that, comes a race to see who can complete it first, a staple of the series. Contest mode for the race, the most challenging difficulty, will be live for 48 hours. Those who complete it will get an emblem and bragging rights, but as for those first completions, that should be later today. I mean, we've had 24 hour races in the past, but I sort of doubt it for this one. If you're gearing up to head into the Destiny raid today, racing or not, there are a list of disabled items that you'll need to be aware of if you were planning to take them in. The list is not that long at this point, but I'm willing to bet it may grow here in the next few hours. I'm basing it on this Bungie Help post here, but again, I will add more if I need to. Exotic Armor Perk – Spirit of the Liar (disabled all across Destiny 2) Weapons: Outbreak Perfected, Third Iteration, Choir of One, Icebreaker I know that new exotic scout Third Iteration is doing 150% of the damage it's supposed to when you have anti-barrier on it. I know that Choir of One has re-boosted its huge reserves, seemingly by accident. I'm not sure about the other two, however, and Outbreak Perfected is a pretty common choice for exotics in many situations, so that's a bummer. In a less important move, Bungie has disabled bounty and weapon leveling progression for kills in the raid, as that helps ease server strain (nothing kills a race faster than server strain). Destiny 2 FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder However, needless to say there are still some…concerns with the integrity of the raid race. There was just this dust-up about a rapid farm of the exotic mission Encore which was skyrocketing the power level of players for three days before it was disabled, netting them early access to higher tier gear. What is or isn't turned off in terms of the benefits this gives is a bit unclear, though the new system is meant to be around boosted damage reduction and high damage on the new tiered gear. Then there are just a million potential oversights from Bungie in terms of how the totally new build system works, with stats now going to 200 and all of them being fundamentally changed in terms of the benefits they bring. I am seeing some new apparently broken build every few hours. One I'm working on is from (frequent World's First winner) Saltagreppo who has an apparently almost unkillable grapple-based Prismatic Hunter build running already. Nothing about that is disabled, for instance. I've also seen things like new forms of infinity super chaining, and we just don't know what else is going to be pulled out here. Neither does Bungie, I imagine, so it's going to be a free-for-all. Fun? Maybe. But expect the outcome of the race to potentially be controversial. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. ‘Destiny 2' Deletes Easy Encore Power Farm That Will Now Split The Community

Destiny 2 Well, it turns out when you change essentially everything about every system in Destiny 2, some things are going to slip through the cracks. And that's what's happened with the launch of The Edge of Fate, and it's actually Bungie not reacting fast enough that's created a big problem with the game. As of yesterday, Bungie disabled the exotic mission Encore (after which they briefly disabled the entire Pinnacle Ops playlist), as it had turned into a speed farm for huge power gains and some of the best gear in the game. Here's what they said: 'We have identified an issue where the Encore mission is substantially easier to complete, and dropping higher quantities of rewards, than intended within Pinnacle Ops.' 'As such, we have disabled the Encore mission within Pinnacle Ops and the "Grappler" modifier within the Portal. These will be reenabled at a future date.' The idea here was that you could speed through the mission with the triple grapple modifier and net tons of great rewards with little effort, boosting your power level immediately, skipping potentially weeks of grinding for some players. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Should this have been disabled? I mean, probably. It's pretty dumb to not have tested a triple grapple modifier that the literal dev team was showing off on stream if it was an issue in a mission like this, but yes, I understand why Encore probably couldn't exist like this indefinitely. However, the problem is how long it did last. It took three full days for Bungie to disable the Encore farm. That means while some players were busy actually playing the campaign, those that figured this out were just grinding Encore endlessly in these short intervals, rocketing up their power and getting high tier loot almost instantly. So now with this disabled, half the community (well, probably more) isn't anywhere close to the power level of that group, while the other group has destroyed most of the power leveling goals of the entire season in 72 hours (I am not blaming them for that). Destiny 2 Edge of Fate It's a mess. It's unclear how you would even roll this back. You can't just reactivate the farm and let everyone do it from here on out. You can't…what, delete all the high power high tier these players got. So Bungie is sort of stuck here, and this highlights some problems with a system where the main goal is getting power to get high tier loot, because if you skip that power grind, whoops, you're sort of done. And if you think this is the only 'efficient' grind that the community is going to dig up, you're wrong. These new systems and the way they interact feels like it's going to be a problem, and this is just the first example of it. But now, this has dramatically split the community between those who did this farm and those who didn't, and there does not seem to be any way to close that gap at all.
