Early Tuesday, the US Embassy in Iraq said that a group of 101 individuals, representing around 60 US firms in the energy, technology, and health sectors, are visiting Iraq this week, the state news agency (INA) reported. During the visit, which extends from April 7 to 9, the delegation will meet with senior Iraqi officials, interact with Iraqi companies, and sign a number of agreements. During a reception ceremony for the trade delegation in Baghdad, the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Baghdad, Daniel Rubinstein, said that the visit aims to strengthen trade partnerships between the two countries. The step follows US President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 39 percent customs tariff on Iraqi imports and the Iraqi cabinet's instructions to enhance banking and financial services between US and Iraqi firms as well as to strengthen bilateral trade connections with the US.
