According to a statement released by the US Embassy in Iraq, the step aims to enhance private sector connections between the two countries.
To improve relations between the commercial sectors in the United States and Iraq, the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce signed a crucial memorandum of understanding on Monday.
This alliance is expected to promote sustained economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to media reports, Baghdad wants to keep its diplomatic and economic ties with Washington, its strategic ally, balanced.
According to data issued by the Executive Office of the President of the United States, the estimated value of US goods trade with Iraq was $9.1 billion in 2024.
Early Tuesday, the US Embassy in Iraq said that a group of 101 individuals, representing around 60 US firms in the energy, technology, and health sectors, are visiting Iraq this week, the state news agency (INA) reported.
During the visit, which extends from April 7 to 9, the delegation will meet with senior Iraqi officials, interact with Iraqi companies, and sign a number of agreements.
During a reception ceremony for the trade delegation in Baghdad, the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Baghdad, Daniel Rubinstein, said that the visit aims to strengthen trade partnerships between the two countries.
The step follows US President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 39 percent customs tariff on Iraqi imports and the Iraqi cabinet's instructions to enhance banking and financial services between US and Iraqi firms as well as to strengthen bilateral trade connections with the US.

Egypt launches new commercial channel linking Iraq, Saudi Arabia
Baghdad ( – Egypt has established a new commercial route linking it with Saudi Arabia and Iraq, demonstrating the scope of transformations in infrastructure and strategic planning for regional transport. The first trial shipment recently passed through Egypt's Safaga seaport on the Red Sea. This shipment is part of a proposal to establish a new regional commercial corridor that will connect Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. The initiative is part of a contemporary intermodal transportation infrastructure that mixes marine and land transport, reshaping the trading landscape between the Middle East and North Africa. This new corridor represents not only a logistical milestone but also a significant advancement in the economic integration among the three countries. Rather than relying on lengthy, complicated, and geographically demanding traditional routes, the new corridor provides an integrated model that begins in Cairo, passes through the Safaga Port, crosses the Red Sea to the Saudi port of NEOM, and continues by land to Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region of Iraq. According to sources at Safaga Port, this pilot project has resulted in a more than 50 percent decrease in transit time compared to regular routes, providing a significant economic advantage in light of geopolitical challenges that some traditional corridors face.

Mosul families demand truth on 600 missing under ISIS
Shafaq News – Mosul Dozens of families in Mosul's Wadi Hajar district staged a protest on Tuesday, urging Iraqi authorities to reveal the fate of more than 600 men who vanished after ISIS seized the city in 2014. Gathering on the Right Bank of Mosul, once the group's declared capital in Nineveh, the protesters carried photographs of their loved ones and banners demanding official clarification. The missing were policemen and civilians who disappeared during the militants' occupation and remain unaccounted for eight years after the city's liberation. Speaking with Shafaq News, one of the protesters, Um Ahmed, praised Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil for reopening the file of al-Khafsa — a massive natural sinkhole about 20 kilometers south of Mosul that is considered one of the world's largest mass graves, with estimates ranging from 3,000 victims to far higher. 'If they are martyrs, we want to bury them with dignity. If they are alive, we demand their release,' she said. 'We have been waiting for years, and no one has come to ask about us.' Residents of Wadi Hajar stress that their suffering did not end with Mosul's liberation. They insist some of the missing were seen later in Iraqi prisons, while other accounts suggest ISIS executed them and dumped the bodies in al-Khafsa.
