Rixos Hotels Bets on Gulf Boom With $3 Billion Qatar Project
The Turkish owner of the Rixos Hotels is expanding beyond Europe and Central Asia to bet big on the Gulf with a $3 billion investment in Qatar's capital. The firm will build hotels, an amusement park as well as some residential and retail properties on beach-front land north of Doha, Chairman Fettah Tamince said in an interview. They will be part of Qatar's mammoth Simaisma tourism development and the investments will be made over the next three to four years.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the group said it has taken a strategic step that reflects its interest in the Iraqi market and aims to strengthen Baghdad's presence on the global tourism map. According to the statement, Rixos founder and chairman Fettah Tamince visited Baghdad to review progress on the 'Rixos Baghdad' complex, which includes a hotel and residential apartments. It will be the first five-star hotel in the capital built to Rixos international standards. According to a statement from the PM's office, Al-Sudani emphasized Iraq's push to position itself as a viable destination for international investors, highlighting ongoing development, regulatory reforms, and upgraded infrastructure—particularly in Baghdad and other provinces—as the foundation for large-scale tourism initiatives. He also highlighted Iraq's 'rich array of archaeological sites, religious landmarks, and cultural assets,' describing the country as an emerging hub with strong potential for global tourism. Tamince, in turn, briefed the PM on Rixos Hotels' presence in Iraq and its operations across 22 countries.
