Kerry jockey Oisin Murphy has three winners after first three days at Royal Ascot meeting
Murphy was in fine form on day three of the five-day meeting, which began Tuesday and continues until Saturday at the famed racecourse in Berkshire, just west of London. Murphy was particularly impressive in getting Arabian Story up to the winning line first in the Britannia Stakes (Heritage Handicap) Class 2 race over 1 mile for trainer Saeed bin Suroor. Arabian Story was in touch with leaders after the first and disputed the lead over one furlong out, before being pushed along by Murphy to take the lead inside final 100 yards to get up by a neck ahead of La Botte (7/1) ridden by Jamie Spencer for trainer Harry Eustace in the field of 20. Murphy took his total of winners to three in the final race of the day, the Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap) over 7f, when he rode the Andrew Balding trained Never So Brave (4/1f) to a two and one-quarter length win over Akkadian Thunder (7/1), with another two and a quarter lengths back to Holguin (16/1). Murphy timed his race perfectly, finding room up the inside rail and pushing hard inside the final furlong for the win. On Wednesday, the Kerry man opened his account in the Kensington Palace Stakes (Fillies' Handicap) over one mile with a one-length winning ride aboard 11/1 shot Miss Information, trained by Balding, ahead of Snellen (25/1), with Cheshire Dancer in third. In Thursday's feature race, the Ascot Gold Cup, Murphy was well beaten into fifth place on Coltraine (33/1) for Balding, while in Wednesday's feature, the Prince Of Wales's Stakes, he placed third on another Balding horse, See The Fire, a 7/2 chance that finished four and a half lengths behind winner Ombudsman. In Friday's feature, the Group 1 Coronation Stakes for fillies, Murphy rides the Ollie Sangster trained Flight, which finished second in the 1,000 Guineas.

Stressfree victory proves enjoyable for O'Meara
David O'Meara's five-year-old only had three victories to his name on the Flat before this, which does not reflect the level of his ability, and looked to have a mountain to climb as Kildare Legend kicked clear off the front. But Danny Tudhope timed it to perfection on the 11-2 shot to win by a neck and the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap now beckons. O'Meara said: 'He wasn't winning out of turn, he's been very consistent. He's got a lot of ability, but he's often the bridesmaid. We sent him hurdling through the winter, more to toughen him up than anything. 'He was given an excellent ride. I'm never confident with him as he's often come out second best, but to be fair he did nothing wrong today. 'He could go for the mile-and-a-half handicap at Ascot and possibly the Ebor later, why not, he might stay that far, he keeps a little bit back.' The big summer showpiece could also be on the cards for Mick Appleby's Kodi Lion (5-1) following a clear-cut win in the Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Reverence Handicap. Bought out of Ed Walker's yard for 90,000 guineas, he will need to step up in trip should he go following a length win over six furlongs, but he does have form over seven. 'It's quite emotional, my dad died four years ago today so he's definitely looking down,' said Liz Cash, who owns the horse together with her mother. 'If he goes up enough in the weights we'll look at the seven-furlong race (Buckingham Palace) at Ascot.' Ed Bethell's Oolong Poobong (4-1) was cheered home by a raucous crowd to win the Betfred 'Join Our Sports Club' Fillies' Handicap, while Martyn Meade saddled just his second winner of the year when Organ (9-1) prevailed in the Betfred 'Join Our Sports Club' Fillies' Handicap.
