Olympic hero Jack Woolley's favourite TV shows, books and music for the summer
Jack Woolley, the athlete who's currently training in sunny Madrid, has spilled the beans on his top summer picks for books, TV shows, and music.
Chatting with RSVP Magazine, Jack shared: "I love easy TV. I'm training in Spain at the moment and I love throwing on a few episodes of Desperate Housewives. When I'm at home, I watch Gogglebox or First Dates Ireland."
He also dished on his latest viewing habits: "I recently started watching a documentary about the Barnett family who adopted the young girl from Ukraine. It's really good."
"There's also a drama series about it on Disney + where they've recreated it. I prefer the documentary, I like watching real people talking about the case rather than American actors trying to portray the story."
Jack loves summer based TV shows.
He added: "Love Island has gotten very samey, but that's how I passed my time during Covid. As a kid, I had a fixation with watching Benidorm. Watching it felt like I was on holiday myself. It was great."
Jack can remember reading and specific books by the pool or on the beach when he was growing up.
He said: "I read The Hunger Games series, which came out when I was about 14 or 15. I also read Harry Potter.
"Other than that, I didn't have a great attention span. My books these days are more about sports psychology."
What podcasts is he listening to at the moment? "My friend Kayleigh Trappe, from Dancing With The Stars, started doing a podcast called Mná Sport. She interviews women in sport.
"I've found it very interesting especially because I've trained with some of the people she's had on. It's mad seeing two of my friends coming together on a podcast.
"When people say they listen to podcasts, I'd love to know the percentage of people who listen on Spotify or just watch clips on TikTok.
"I prefer to have something to engage me visually as well."
Jack is big into music, and his playlist is always full of throwback classics.
He said: "I'm a music person. Some people put on a podcast while they're cleaning the house, I have the tunes blaring out on a speaker.
"I'm really into 90s and early 00s trance techno music.
"I love Scooter and Sash, Encore En Fois is a great one. The peak of music was 2014 when Justin Bieber was coming into himself."
He continued: "My top artist is Miley Cyrus. Music is a bit samey at the moment, I don't think it's very good. It all sounds the same to me."
