Morrisons announces loyalty scheme change - and shoppers can earn more points
More Card members can now earn points with over 300 participating brands including eBay, Very, Just Eat, Expedia and ASOS Morrisons is expanding its More Card loyalty scheme and it means shoppers can earn more points. The supermarket is launching More Partner Points for when customers shop with certain retailers. More Card members can earn points with over 300 participating brands including eBay, Very, Just Eat, Expedia and ASOS. You can access More Partner Points by logging into the Morrisons More App or the More website to browse, then clicking through to a retailer. You More Points are then tracked and added to your Morrisons account automatically. All purchases must be made through the Morrisons More App or website for points to be awarded. The new feature is digital-only and available to all registered More Card customers. Morrisons More members earn five More points on products when they scan their card in-store or online. Once a customer has reached 5,000 points, they receive a Morrisons Fiver. This is worth £5 which can be redeemed on a future shop, in-store or online. Morrisons More also offers personalised discounts for shoppers. Kate Lavery, Loyalty Director, Morrisons, said: 'We're always looking for ways to make the Loyalty scheme even more rewarding. More Partner Points means our customers can now collect More Points on their everyday purchases beyond the weekly shop - whether they're buying clothes, gifts, or booking a holiday. It's another step towards helping customers save more, more often.' But in not-so-good news, Morrisons has axed two of its loyalty scheme offers - leaving shoppers furious. The supermarket previously ran Fish Fridays and Steak Saturdays promotions which gave More Card customers 20% off fish and steak from its Market Street counters. However, these offers have recently been pulled - with Morrisons adding 125 fish and steak products to its three for £10 deal instead. Shoppers have been reacting to the news on social media. One person commented on Morrisons' Facebook page: 'You have finished with 20% off the fish Friday and Steak Saturday not happy.' In a separate Reddit post, another said: 'Are Morrisons stopping the 20% Fish Fridays and Steak Saturdays? Manager last week told me they were stopping it, offers no longer showing on the app!' A spokesperson from Morrisons told The Sun: 'Market street is an important part of Morrisons and we are working hard to maintain what customers really want, modernising our proposition and maintaining what is in our DNA as a company.' It comes after Morrisons announced it is closing 17 of its smaller Morrisons Daily stores, 35 meat counters, along with 35 of its fish counters. The supermarket is also getting rid of 52 in-store cafes, all 18 of its Market Kitchens, 13 florists and four pharmacies.

Morrisons closing final of 17 stores today in major blow for shoppers
The supermarket closed 16 of its Morrisons Daily convenience stores last month and now its branch in Haxby is shutting today Morrisons is set to close the final of 17 stores today as part of its major restructure plans. The supermarket closed 16 of its Morrisons Daily convenience stores last month and now its branch in Haxby is shutting today. It isn't just Morrisons Daily stores that have been impacted. The supermarket also announced plans to shut 52 of its in-store cafés, all 18 of its market kitchens, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies. Morrisons said a "wide-ranging review" found these services were not cost-effective. At the time, the supermarket said most employees affected by these changes will be offered alternative roles elsewhere in the company - however, 365 people were still put at risk of redundancy. The shake-up is also partly to "help mitigate recent significant cost increases" including an increase in employers' National Insurance and the minimum wage. Rami Baitiéh, Chief Executive of Morrisons, said at the time of the announcement: 'The changes we are announcing today are a necessary part of our plans to renew and reinvigorate Morrisons and enable us to focus our investment into the areas that customers really value and that can play a full part in our growth. 'Morrisons Cafés are rightly famous for their great quality well-priced food, their place in the local community and their appealing mix of traditional favourites alongside exciting new dishes. 'In most locations the Morrisons Café has a bright future, but a minority have specific local challenges and in those locations, regrettably, closure and re-allocation of the space is the only sensible option. 'Market Street is a beacon of differentiation for Morrisons and we remain committed to it. But as we modernise we are making some necessary changes to the areas of the model which are simply uneconomic. 'In some stores where we are closing counters or Cafés, we plan to work with third parties to provide a relevant specialist offer. Although these changes are relatively small in the context of the overall scale of the Morrisons business, we do not take lightly the disruption and uncertainty they will cause to some of our colleagues.' But in better news, Morrisons has announced that More Card customers can now donate loyalty points to the charity Marie Curie. The points can be donated in multiples of 1,000 points, which is the equivalent of £1, through the More Card App or More website. Each donation will be converted into a monetary value and transferred to Marie Curie. Morrisons More members earn five More points on products when they scan their card in-store or online. Morrisons AXES popular loyalty scheme feature that saved shoppers cash
MORRISONS has stopped two of its popular food offers- leaving customers missing their weekend discounts. Fish Fridays and Steak Saturdays have for years given customers with More Cards 20% off fish and steak from the stores' Market Street counters. 2 2 But the supermarket recently removed the offers as it says customers wanted value all week-long, not just certain days of the week. Instead it has now added 125 fish and steak products to its three for £10 offer, which is available all the time, as well as offering other deals on certain dates. Customers are not happy with the change, with one saying on Morrisons' Facebook page: 'You have finished with 20% off the fish Friday and Steak Saturday not happy.' Another added: 'Are Morrisons stopping the 20% Fish Fridays and Steak Saturdays? 'Manager last week told me they were stopping it, offers no longer showing on the app!' Morrisons' fish and meat counters carry the store's 'Market Street' branding, as well as many products sold on the supermarket's shelves. The retailer recently announced the closure of 70 of its fish and meat counters, which came as a blow to shoppers across the country. A spokesman said it will continue to offer 'great value' deals, such as its recent discount of a third off Market Street Sirloin Steak over the last May Bank Holiday weekend. Offers included saving a third on Market Street Rump Steak last weekend (May 9 -11), and a third off Silverside Joint between May 12 and 18. These deals are available on the shelves, and not from the meat counters. Savvy ways to save at Morrisons Morrisons said: 'Market street is an important part of Morrisons and we are working hard to maintain what customers really want, modernising our proposition and maintaining what is in our DNA as a company.' It's not the only supermarket to have upset shoppers planning their weekend meals. Fans of Tesco's Finest dine-in meal deal were recently upset to learn the cost had risen from £12 to £15. Last October, ready-meals fans were angry because M&S hiked its popular Gastropub dine-in deal by 25%, from £12 to £15. And earlier this year Tesco increased the cost of its deal on ready meals, with the cost of two of its Finest ready meals rising from £7.50 to £8, and more recently to £8.50 with a Clubcard. Also, the retailer recently made to its loyalty scheme which now allows loyalty card holders the ability to donate their points to charity Marie Curie. What is Morrisons' More Card scheme? The loyalty scheme, which was reintroduced in 2023, has proved popular with many shoppers. It allows customers who have saved 5,000 Points, to receive a £5 Morrisons voucher which can be redeemed on a future shop, in store or online. It can be used as a physical card or app and customers will be able to earn points on specific products and counters in store and online. That means you won't earn points on every single item. Customers can also earn five points for every litre of fuel bought in a Morrisons petrol filling station. Examples of points you would get based on purchases include: 100 More Points for every five pack of doughnuts (89p) 500 More Points for every £5 spent at the pizza counter 600 More Points for every £6 spent in a Morrisons café 100 More Points for every British BBQ meat pack from the butcher's counter Once a customer has saved 5,000 points, they will receive a "Morrisons Fiver" which can be redeemed on a future shop. Shoppers on the loyalty scheme will still be able to get exclusive prices on certain products, including Pringles, Nescafe instant coffee and Cathedral City cheese after the supermarket launched those last October. Supermarket loyalty schemes - which has one? MOST UK supermarkets have loyalty schemes so customers can build up points and save money while they shop. Here we round up what saving programmes you'll find at the big brands. Iceland: Unlike other stores, you don't collect points with the Iceland Bonus Card. Instead, you load it up with money and Iceland will give you £1 for every £20 you save. Lidl Plus: Lidl customers don't collect points when they shop, and are instead rewarded with personalised vouchers that gives them money off at the till. Morrisons: The My Morrisons: Make Good Things Happen replaces the More Card and rewards customers with personalised money off vouchers via the app. Sainsbury's: While Sainsbury's doesn't have a personal scheme, it does own the Nectar card which can also be used in Argos, eBay and other shops. You need 200 Nectar points to save up £1 to spend on your card. You need to spend at least £1 to get one Nectar point. Tesco: Tesco Clubcard has over 17million members in the UK alone. You use it each time you shop and build up points that can be turned into vouchers - 150 points gets you a £1.50 voucher. Here you need to spend £1 in Tesco to get one point. Waitrose: myWaitrose also doesn't allow you to collect points but instead you'll get access to free hot drinks, and discounts off certain brands in store. They can give away their More Points to the end-of-life charity 1,000 at a time - which is the equivalent of £1. Loyalty scheme changes at other retailers Elsewhere, Tesco made a major change to its Clubcard scheme and it's great news for pizza lovers. Customers can now exchange their points for money off drinks and food at PizzaExpress until the end of April. Any Clubcard points exchanged for money off at Pizza Express are worth double, so a £1.50 voucher will save you £3. Sainsbury's also recently made a huge change to its Nectar loyalty scheme for 18 million customers. The UK's second biggest grocery store has introduced a new security feature on its loyalty card app to prevent points from being stolen. The free scheme allows customers to earn one Nectar point for every £1 spent at Sainsbury's, both in-store and online. How to save money on your supermarket shop THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop. You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they've been reduced. If the food is fresh, you'll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time. Making a list should also save you money, as you'll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket. Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too. This means ditching "finest" or "luxury" products and instead going for "own" or value" type of lines. Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they're misshapen or imperfect. For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50. If you're on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too. Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.

Local fire department recalls responding to emergency during fish fry
Week six of Fish Fridays continued at West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Department, which brought community members in the doors of their social hall for a tasty meal. 'We have baked, fried fish. Our other option tonight happens to be lasagna. We always serve another option because not everyone likes fish. We do this every year. Every year, we've gotten very lucky where it gets busier and busier,' said Janet Courson, assistant fire chief of the West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Department. The first responders have been serving at least 200 meals a night, and Coursen said it's an opportunity for residents to meet their local firefighters in a more pleasant setting. 'People don't always see us unless it's an emergency. This is an opportunity to see pretty much our entire fire department working together doing something that's not an emergency. This is just [to] come see who we are, put a face to a name,' said Coursen. Dominick's Diner says thank you and farewell to Erie During week five of the lent fish dinners, there was a call for help in the middle of the dinner. 'We were assisting Cambridge Springs at a structure fire. I was here early in the afternoon. We had other people coming in, and as soon as the alarm went off, we assembled, and we said 'Okay, you're going, you're staying, you're going, you're staying,'' said James Pratt, fire chief of the West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Department. This was a chance for community members of Meadville to respond while first responders carried out their duties of service. 'Todd called and said, 'Hey, we just got called out. I have two people here; can you guys come and help?' And my husband and I are like, 'Yep, we're on our way,'' said Susan Ferguson, a Meadville resident. 'My husband called our friends Dave and Rob, and they'd come in and helped also wait tables, clean up tables.' Crumbl Cookies to make sweet Erie debut with grand opening in May Now, usually, we see community members showing their appreciation for firefighters, but the fire chief here said his staff was showing their praise to the community. 'When we came back, we saw all the people. It was like, overwhelming. So very nice to see. We're grateful for them, and anything that anybody can do is great,' said Pratt. 'It makes you feel good that you have the community standing behind you and able to do things to help,' said Ferguson. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
