KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in his meeting with Balochistan's Livestock Minister Sardarzada Mir Faisal Jamali, decided to exchange superior livestock breeds and to bolster cooperation in livestock development between the two provinces. The meeting, held at CM House, was attended by Sindh's Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Muhammad Ali Malkani. As part of this collaboration, an agreement was reached to organise a cattle show in Jacobabad, where Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed his commitment to personally participate and extend an invitation to the Balochistan Chief Minister. He emphasised the importance of joint research efforts between the livestock departments of both provinces. Separately, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah met with the UAE Ambassador, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and exploring investment opportunities, particularly in public-private partnerships. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was appointed as the head of Bangladesh's interim government after the ouster of former PM Sheikh Hasina last year. (File) Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted from power in August last year, following student protests that quickly morphed into an anti-regime agitation, forcing Hasina to flee the country and seek refuge in India. Shortly after Hasina's fall, an interim government headed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was installed in Dhaka, and the new regime quickly turned out to be an anti-India force, as it moved closer to Pakistan and China, leading to a decline in India-Bangladesh relations. However, the Yunus government may face a similar fate as its predecessor as top leaders of Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League– the deposed ruling party of Bangladesh– are reportedly planning to overthrow the interim dispensation under which the country has descended into political, economic, and social chaos. Awami League leaders meet in London According to a media report, five former Awami League ministers held secret consultations at the wedding ceremony of a fellow party leader at a hotel in London, United Kingdom on Sunday night (local time). Awami League Joint General Secretary and former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, Presidium Member and former Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdur Rahman, Organising Secretary and former Shipping Minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Sylhet district Awami League President and former State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, attended the wedding of UK Awami League General Secretary Syed Sajidur Rahman Faruq's son Faiyaz Rahman at the Hotel InterContinental in London, Prothom Alo reported. As per reports, the Awami League top brass also held secret consultations at the event, which has stirred a political firestorm in Dhaka as it is being speculated that the deposed party is plotting to overthrow Bangladesh's interim goverment. Will Sheikh Hasina return to Bangladesh? Meanwhile, deposed leader Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in India, has hinted at a future return to Bangladesh, even though the current regime in Dhaka has cancelled her passport, and filed damning criminal cases against her, including kidnapping, murder, genocide, and war crimes. In a meeting with Awami League workers and supporters last week, Hasina asserted that God saved her life and brought her to India for some good reason, and she intends to return to Bangladesh 'very soon'. Hasina's statement has triggered speculations whether her Awami League is hatching some big plan in London to facilitate her return and oust the Yunus-led government from power. Notably, Bangladesh's interim government has suspended the National Voter ID of Sheikh Hasina and nine members of her family, making them ineligible to vote or contest polls in the South Asian country. Dhaka has also issued a warrant against British MP Tulip Siddiq, who is a close relative of Sheikh Hasina.
