The Great Khali joins Fit India Cycling Drive in Delhi
Former WWE World Heavyweight champion and the only Indian to hold that feat, The Great Khali, flagged off the drive. The 31st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was held across India on Sunday, with Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya leading the event in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Over 500 people joined him in the cycling drive, which promotes the message of 'Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz'. This week's edition was organised in partnership with various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and events were held at more than 7000 locations. Around 3000 Namo Fit India Cycling Clubs also participated. Attended by over 3000 old and young fitness enthusiasts, Khali, 52, stressed the importance of fitness in Bharat becoming a 'Vishwaguru'. In Gandhinagar, Dr Mandaviya met the Indian Youth Women's Handball Team, who are currently at a national camp. The event was flagged off by Arjuna Awardee and para powerlifting coach Rajinder Singh Rahelu. Local officials such as MLAs, the Mayor, and police officers also attended. Participants included employees from PSUs like ONGC, Indian Oil, GAIL, HPCL, LIC and others. Lalit Kumar Watts from the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) said that athletes from sports like hockey, shooting and basketball also took part. These cycling drives are conducted by several Khelo India Centres (KICs), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India Accredited Academies (KIAAs), Regional Centres (RCs), as well as various National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs) across the country. In Delhi, the event was held at Major Dhyanchand Stadium and included yoga, Zumba, and rope skipping. Former WWE champion The Great Khali flagged off the cycle rally and urged youth to stay fit and avoid drugs. He stressed that a healthy India can become a global leader. A special edition was also held in Gurgaon with support from Raahgiri Foundation, featuring yoga, games, and cycling. The event is led by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and supported by over 3000 cycling clubs and various sports institutions.

Mandaviya leads 'Fit India Sundays' on cycle in Gujarat's Gandhinagar; The Great Khali graces 31st edition of event in Delhi
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 13 (ANI): The 31st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was held successfully nationwide on Sunday morning as Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya led a group of over 500 participants in Gujarat's Gandhinagar, as per a release from SAI media. Organised this week in partnership with Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), the pan-India cycling drive witnessed participation from over 7000 locations across the country, reinforcing the message of 'Fitness Ki Dose, Aadha Ghanta Roz'. The participation included from 3000 Namo Fit India Cycling clubs. 'Fit India 'Sundays on Cycle' has now become a powerful nationwide initiative, carrying forward Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's Fit India mission with full power. It has truly become a series that's not just about fitness but also about national transformation. In over 7000 places, our youth today has actively participated in this movement,' mentioned Mandaviya in Gujarat, as quoted from a release by SAI media. Mandaviya also interacted with the Indian Youth Women's Handball team, who are currently undergoing their national coaching camp at the SAI NCOE Gandhinagar. The Gandhinagar event was flagged off by Arjuna Awardee and Para Powerlifting Chief Coach, Rajinder Singh Rahelu, at SAI Gandhinagar. The event was also attended by local dignitaries including MLAs, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, District Collector and Superintendent of Police. The participants across these events included people from leading PSUs like PSPB, ONGC, Indian Oil, GAIL, HPCL, BPCL, EIL, Oil India, CPCL, IGL, NRL, MNGL, HMEL, Petronet LNG, Balmer Lawrie, Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited, and ONGC MRPL, Gujarat Metro, NPCC, WAPCOS, LIC, and more. Lalit Kumar Watts, Advisor at Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), said, 'The Fit India Sundays on Cycle is a great initiative under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi ji and Hon'ble Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. All oil companies under PSPB took part in this cycling drive as well as athletes from hockey, basketball, shooting, athletics and carrom, joined today.' In the national capital New Delhi, the 31st edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle took place at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium in a carnival like atmosphere which included rope skipping, Zumba and hatha yoga activities. Khali, aka Dalip Singh Rana, also urged youth to 'stay away from drugs' and focus on positive pursuits like fitness and sports. A special edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle was also organized in collaboration with Raahgiri Foundation in Gurgaon, which saw 700 participants cycling, doing yoga as well as take part in a plethora of fun games including street dance, ludo, carrom, snake & ladders, hand painting and more. The Fit India Sundays on Cycle is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), MY Bharat, Rope Skipping led by Shikha Gupta and Yogasana Bharat. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to lead Fit India Sundays on Cycle rally in Gandhinagar with PSUs
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 11(ANI): Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, will be the chief guest in the Gandhinagar leg of the 31st edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, scheduled July 13. The Minister will be leading over 300 participants, including various members from various central and state Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), who are special partners for this Sunday's edition. In total, the Fit India Sundays on Cycle will be organised in over 6,000 locations pan-India, and there will be an estimated 50,000 participants. In Gandhinagar, the cycling route will cover approx 4.5 kilometers around Swarnim Park, starting near Gate No. 5 of Mahatma Mandir. The rally will also see senior officials, employees, citizens, and fitness enthusiasts join hands to promote the ongoing nationwide cycling drive amplifying the message of regular physical activity, fight against obesity and sustainable transport. In New Delhi, the event will be graced by India's only WWE Heavyweight Champion -- The Great Khali, alongside other distinguished guests and fitness enthusiasts. Over 500 cyclists are expected to join the rally that will be flagged off from the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium. A special edition of the cycling event will also be organised in collaboration with Raahgiri Foundation in Gurgaon, which will feature an array of fun and community activities including street dance, ludo, carrom, snake & ladders, hand painting and more. 30th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle in partnership with RWAs held in Delhi
New Delhi [India], July 6 (ANI): The main event of the 30th edition of 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' took place in Delhi on Sunday. Cyclists began from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, rode around the India Gate C Hexagon, continued to Vijay Chowk along Kartavya Path, and returned to the stadium. 'Fit India Sundays' was organised at 6,000 locations across India on July 6 in partnership with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). The Delhi event was flagged off at 7 AM from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle has gradually become a mass movement. This week, we will be organising the event in partnership with RWAs. I urge all citizens and communities to become part of this initiative and indulge in fitness-related activities like cycling and yoga to avoid lifestyle diseases and reduce pollution levels in their area,' Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya said as quoted by the SAI Media press release on Friday. The objective of organising the event with RWAs is to promote sustainability and connect with local communities across India. As per official estimates, there are 5-6 lakh RWAs in India whose role is to increase awareness about adopting a healthy and active lifestyle. The RWAs are encouraging residents in their areas to participate in cycling, yoga and fitness activities daily. Sharing an X post on Friday, the Union Sports Minister wrote, 'Sunday will become Fitness Day! This Sunday, the #SundaysOnCycle event will be organized at over 6,000 locations across the country. To bring Modi ji's fitness mantra to every household, Resident Welfare Associations will also join us. So, see you this Sunday.' Started by Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya in December 2024, the 'FIT India Sundays on Cycle' has been organised simultaneously in capitals of all States and Union Territories besides SAI Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs) and Khelo India centres (KICs) across various age groups. The one-day event will witness 50,000-plus individuals pedal nationwide for health towards a pollution and obesity-free India. Started by Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya in December 2024, the 'FIT India Sundays on Cycle' movement has been organised in thousands of locations across the country with the participation of more than 50,000 individuals every week. The main event will be flagged off at 7AM from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Sunday. The cyclists will then circle around India Gate C Hexagon and go till Vijay Chowk on Kartavya Path before returning to the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
