Former 5-Star Recruit Reveals Why He Left Florida State for Deion Sanders, Colorado
Former 5-Star Recruit Reveals Why He Left Florida State for Deion Sanders, Colorado originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When wide receiver Hykeem Williams joined the Florida State Seminoles as a member of the 2023 recruiting class, there was hope he would come in and develop into a star. Advertisement However, that never really materialized. In the past two seasons, Williams has appeared in 17 games, hauling in just 21 receptions for 267 yards and two touchdowns, leading him to transfer to the Colorado Buffaloes for 2025. Now, in a video posted to the "Reach The People Media" YouTube channel, he dug a little deeper into his decision to join head coach Deion Sanders in Boulder. Sanders played his college ball for Florida State. 'The production, I mean, it's the best here for real," Williams said. "Honestly, you getting put on the biggest showcase. You know what I'm saying? And I mean, it connects. I mean, you getting coached by some of the best. They done did it. ... A lot of NFL come through here, so why not?' Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Hykeem Williams (8). Melina Myers-Imagn Images Of course, as mentioned by the wide receiver, Colorado draws a lot of attention, and per 247Sports, its 2024 average viewership of 4,178,692 per game was the 10th most of any team. Advertisement They also had three wide receivers taken in the 2025 NFL draft, the most of any program, as Travis Hunter went to the Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 2), LaJohntay Wester joined the Baltimore Ravens (No. 203), and Jimmy Horn Jr. went to the Carolina Panthers (No. 208). Considering those departures, Colorado and Sanders are losing a good amount of production, as the trio combined for 207 receptions, 2,630 yards and 26 touchdowns, which means Williams could come in and play a significant role. Considering that 247Sports Composite rankings had him as a five-star recruit, the No. 3 wide receiver and the No. 30 player in the nation out of high school, there's no doubt he has a lot of talent. It will remain to be seen if it's put on full display. He has been committed to Nebraska since November 26. According to 247Sports, he is the nation's No. 7-ranked cornerback, No. 9-ranked prospect in the state of Florida, and the No. 98-ranked overall prospect. Nebraska has remained in constant contact with Bronaugh, even after his commitment. Matt Rhule has placed an emphasis on recruiting speed and the commitment of Bronaugh is another example of that dedication. Kylee Johnson's two-run homer in 7th rallies Clemson to 2-1 victory over Florida State for ACC title
BRIGHTON, Mass. (AP) — Kylee Johnson hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning and the Clemson Tigers rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday in the championship game of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. Johnson's homer sent the second-seeded Tigers (44-12), who didn't start playing softball until 2020, to their first victory in eight all-time meetings with the top-seeded Seminoles (46-9). Clemson has made five straight trips to the NCAA Tournament — all under head coach John Rittman. Advertisement Florida State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run by Hallie Wacaser off Clemson starter Brooke McCubbin (15-5) and that's where the score stood heading to the seventh. Seminoles starter Ashtyn Danley allowed two hits and three walks in three shutout innings to begin the game. Julia Apsel followed with three hitless innings, but she was replaced by Jazzy Francik (10-3) after issuing a leadoff walk to Marian Collins. Francik struck out Taylor Pipkens on three pitches, but Johnson homered to center field on a 2-2 pitch to put the Tigers ahead. McCubbin allowed leadoff singles to pinch-hitter Annabelle Widra and Isa Torres before retiring the next three batters to earn the victory. Florida State was playing in its 27th ACC championship game after holding off Duke 3-2 in the semifinals. The Seminoles won their only national championship in 2018. They were runners-up in 2021 and 2023 and have advanced to the Women's College World Series in 12 of 36 previous NCAA Tournament appearances. Advertisement Clemson had never won the conference tournament and it's only regular-season title came in 2021. The Tigers are aiming for their first spot in the WCWS. They outscored their opponents 404-179 but didn't play FSU during the regular season. Florida State beat Clemson 8-6 in the 2022 ACC title game. The Blue Devils beat Clemson 1-0 in 2021 in their only other title game appearance. ___ AP college sports:

The legendary broadcaster will finish out his career after 38 years on College Gameday
The legendary broadcaster will finish out his career after 38 years on College Gameday College football Saturdays won't be the same. After 38 years, the legendary coach and analyst Lee Corso is retiring, according to ESPN. From his iconic headgear segments to his phrases such as "not so fast, my friend," Corso left a lasting impression on so many who tuned into College GameDay each and every week. Before joining the ESPN team, he made his mark as a head football coach. Going back to his playing days, Corso has been around the game of football since 1953 when he played for the Florida State Seminoles. Following the 1957 season, he joined the coaching staff as a graduate assistant with the Seminoles. He would join the Maryland Terrapins staff from 1959 to 1965 as the quarterbacks coach. Eventually, Corso would take over the Louisville Cardinals football program as the head coach, where he won two MVC championships before a nine-year run with the Indiana Hoosiers. He made his way back to the collegiate level as a broadcaster in 1987, where he was a mainstay until his retirement after a one-year run in the USFL as head coach of the Orlando Renegades. There should be plenty of tears come Aug. 30, 2025, when Lee Corso signs off for the final time, but it should also be a time of celebration for the coach.
