Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 might cause significant disappointment to US customers

Samsung is preparing to launch its new flagship foldables in less than two months. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be Samsung's main top-tier products until next year when the South Korean company is expected to introduce its new Galaxy S26 series. A recent report coming from the South Korean media claimed the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will use two chipsets: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and Exynos 2500. The international version will be equipped with Samsung's Exynos 2500 chip, while the US model will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The report seemed very reliable considering that Samsung always does that with its flagships. All Samsung flagships launched in the United States are using Qualcomm chipsets, while the rest of the world is getting either MediaTek or Exynos chips. Unfortunately, that might not be the case this year. According to a new report, the firmware files for the US Galaxy Z Flip 7 indicate that the phone will be powered by the Exynos 2500 chipset. It's unclear if that will be the case for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 too, but hopefully Samsung is worried that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset isn't able to keep its foldable flagships cool enough because of how thin they are. We're not sure if this is the real reason or just a guess based on real-life tests, but if the report is true, it will disappoint many Samsung fans in the United type of chipset Samsung uses inside its smartphones remains a sensible topic for tech-savvy customers, although that might not be the case for the general public. What will really matter is how US carriers will decide to push Samsung's new foldables and whether or not they will recommend them over other similar products that use Qualcomm's chipsets like the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 that has just made its debut in the country. This is probably a matter of perspective rather than performance, especially if the report that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset can't keep a phone's battery cool enough the thinner a phone is proves to be correct.

Galaxy Watch 8 charging speeds leak – and it's not the upgrade you hoped for

The Galaxy Watch 7 . | Image Credit - PhoneArena The Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic are expected to join the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7foldable phones at a summer Unpacked event by Samsung. Leaks for the foldable phones have all but unveiled the two devices, and we already know quite a lot about them. Now, leaks have started showing up about the two smartwatches, too. The two devices have now been spotted in China's 3C certification. The listing has revealed some unsurprising news: both of them will be getting LTE-capable variants, which is more than expected nowadays. But that's not all that the 3C certification has confirmed. The listing has also unveiled the two watches' charging speeds. And... well, it's not good news here. According to the listing, both smartwatches may be able to go up to 10W in charging speed. This is not new, as last year's Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 sported the exact same speeds. But it's not an upgrade either, and for people hoping to see charging speed improvements here, this might sound pretty disappointing. The two smartwatches are rumored to feature a redesign. According to leaks, Samsung may ditch the standard, ideally round design for a 'squircle'- like look, which is a softened square still holding a circular display. The new look is said to match more the Galaxy Watch Ultra from last year instead of the traditional Samsung Galaxy Watch design. The two smartwatches are expected to be unveiled in early July, joining the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 phones. The two timepieces come as direct competition to Apple's Series 10. The Apple Watch Series 10 was announced in September last year.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 fresh listing reveals new details

By now it's clear that Samsung will have an explosive summer, as the South Korean giant plans to launch at least two new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, as well as a couple of new smartwatches. The new smartwatches will be part of Samsung's Galaxy Watch 8 series and supposedly will include a Classic model once again. But right now, we'll be talking about the vanilla variant, which has been recently spotted at FCC (Federal Communications Commission). Although this doesn't reveal too much about the upcoming smartwatch, we do in fact get to learn a few key details about Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 . For starters, the smartwatch will support 10W charging speeds and the EP-OL300 wireless smartwatch charger, which will likely ship with the Galaxy Watch 8 . Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 | Image credit: PhoneArena Previously, it was reported that the Galaxy Watch 8 will be powered by a 435 mAh battery, which is a slight improvement over the current model. For the unaware, the Galaxy Watch 7 is equipped with a 425 mAh battery, so this will be a marginal upgrade. How that will translate in real-life scenarios remains to be seen, but we don't think this will matter at all. The size of the battery doesn't appear on FCC's website yet, but the leak comes from a reliable source, so there's a high change it's that, the listing at FCC also confirms that the Galaxy Watch 8 support for various bands and connectivity technologies such as NFC (Near Field Communications), Bluetooth 5.3 LE, and Wi-Fi 802.11n. The smartwatch supports LTE FDD 2 / 4 / 5 / 7 / 12 / 13 / 14 / 25 / 26 / 66 / 71 bands. Just like with the previous smartwatches, Samsung will launch multiple Galaxy Watch 8 versions such as LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants. The Galaxy Watch 8 doesn't have a release date, but rumor has that Samsung plans to announce its new smartwatches along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 , which is expected to happen sometime in July.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 camera: All you need to know

Aside from a spec bump, we don't really expect a revolutionary new experience from the compact foldable phone . Sadly, this means that we'd also get few improvements in one of the key aspects of any modern smartphone––its camera. Previous Galaxy Z Flip phones have boasted fairly adequate, but by no means trend-setting dual camera systems. It appears that the situation will be identical with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 as well. Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature two rear cameras at the back, consistent with previous Galaxy Z Flip devices, as well as the standard front-facing camera. That's pretty much par for the course with Samsung's compact foldable phone , which will likely always be a dual-camera phone. Every year, we keep hoping that Samsung will add a proper telephoto, but time and time again this has eventually remained a pipe dream. Of course, the reason for that is the fairly limited internal space inside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 , which is probably preventing Samsung in its options and limiting the room for improvement on the Flip. Here's how we expect the Galaxy Z Flip 7 to compare with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 . Spoiler alert: no changes are expected. The main camera of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will reportedly be identical to the one found on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 . We are expecting the 50MP F1.8 sensor with a fairly large 1/1.57" size and a fairly standard 23mm field-of-view. This most certainly means that the image quality between the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be mostly similar. That's logical to expect, even though Samsung has proven that it can majorly alter image quality between generations with identical hardware by tuning the image-processing algorithms. The ultrawide camera on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be the ol' reliable, the same 12MP F2.2 one that has been featured on many a Galaxy phone over the years. It's a reliable and solid in terms of image quality, albeit not exactly awe-inspiring in terms of overall capabilities. A case could be made that a telephoto would have been a bit more useful instead of an ultrawide, but that's what we're getting instead.
