U.S. Secretary of State praises Jordan's efforts to advance regional security

I also thanked Jordan for its leadership in advancing regional security and stability, including in the West Bank and Gaza. — Secretary Marco Rubio (@SecRubio) July 23, 2025 Rubio met Wednesday with Safadi to discuss the trilateral agreement between the United States, Jordan, and Syria to maintain the ceasefire in Syria, according to a press release by the U.S Department of State. Rubio stressed the need for dialogue to address the present crisis in southern Syria and underscored the importance of protecting civilians on all sides. The two ministers also discussed the security situations in the region including Gaza and the West Bank. For his part, Safadi thanked Rubio for the thorough discussion on advancing the historical partnership and efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and ending escalation in the West Bank as well as preserving the ceasefire in Suwayda in southern Syria, which the US played a key role in realizing. During the meeting, Safadi also affirmed Jordan's appreciation for the United States' support, reaffirming the two countries' commitment to working together to ensure peace and stability in the region. Jordan, Kuwait sign six cooperation agreements in several sectors
Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Yahya on Wednesday signed six cooperation agreements, marking the conclusion of the fifth session of the Jordanian-Kuwaiti Joint Higher Committee held in Amman. The agreements encompass several sectors, including tourism, culture, higher education, scientific research, labor mobility, and diplomatic collaboration. Specifically, the two sides signed an executive program for tourism cooperation covering the years 2025 to 2027, as well as an executive program for cultural and artistic cooperation for the period 2025 to 2028. In the field of higher education and scientific research, an executive program was agreed upon to enhance collaboration between Jordan's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its Kuwaiti counterpart for the years 2025 to 2030. Furthermore, the two countries concluded an executive program regulating labor movement between Jordan and Kuwait, and an agreement exempting holders of diplomatic passports from entry visa requirements. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between Jordan's Diplomatic Institute under the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs and the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwaiti Diplomatic Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
