Jordan, Kuwait sign six cooperation agreements in several sectors

Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Yahya on Wednesday signed six cooperation agreements, marking the conclusion of the fifth session of the Jordanian-Kuwaiti Joint Higher Committee held in Amman.
The agreements encompass several sectors, including tourism, culture, higher education, scientific research, labor mobility, and diplomatic collaboration. Specifically, the two sides signed an executive program for tourism cooperation covering the years 2025 to 2027, as well as an executive program for cultural and artistic cooperation for the period 2025 to 2028. In the field of higher education and scientific research, an executive program was agreed upon to enhance collaboration between Jordan's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its Kuwaiti counterpart for the years 2025 to 2030.
Furthermore, the two countries concluded an executive program regulating labor movement between Jordan and Kuwait, and an agreement exempting holders of diplomatic passports from entry visa requirements. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between Jordan's Diplomatic Institute under the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs and the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Kuwaiti Diplomatic Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking about Jordan's investment advantages, His Majesty said the Kingdom's geographical location, strong financial sector, and free trade agreements with many markets around the world have attracted investments, pointing out opportunities in high-value sectors such as renewable energy, gas, minerals, and agriculture. The King also highlighted Jordan's highly skilled workforce and efforts to prepare young people to meet the needs of the labour market by promoting education, vocational training, and upskilling in various fields such as engineering, industry, energy, ICT, and healthcare. The forum included three sessions at which Jordan's economic and investment strategies were discussed, and experiences of a number of investors were showcased. Attendees included US specialists in the investment sector, and representatives of Jordanian companies. CalPERS is the largest public pension fund in the United States, with its investment office managing more than $500 billion in assets, in the US and abroad.

He noted that while there are already successful spokespersons, it is essential to further build their skills and communication capabilities to ensure clear and effective messaging to Jordanian society. As part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to boost performance, Moumani said the government will introduce evaluation and training programs to strengthen communication skills, along with mechanisms to ensure active participation in major events and a high level of professionalism in public representation. He added that the ministry is working to improve the flow of information and unify government messaging, to present a more professional and transparent image of government institutions and improve engagement with the public. The goal is to ensure that spokespersons possess the necessary competence and media qualifications to represent institutions effectively. He stated that media spokespersons across ministries and government bodies will fall under the direct technical supervision of the Ministry of Government Communication. The proposed system or guidelines will also ensure that annual performance evaluations are carried out in collaboration with the Minister of State for Public Sector Modernization and the Competency Center at the Civil Service Bureau, reviewing media performance and strategic communication plans to improve coordination between ministries and the communication ministry. He stressed the importance of linking evaluations to achievements and the quality of media plans, ensuring continuous monitoring of spokesperson performance and strengthening their capacities—ultimately enhancing the institutions' public image and communication effectiveness. Moumani emphasized that this step aligns with the ministry's goal of improving the quality of government media work and ensuring the implementation of coherent and strategic media plans that reinforce the image of public institutions and deliver their messages professionally.
