Teen killed in single-vehicle accident in Coolabunia, South Burnett, Queensland
Queensland's Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a 16-year-old girl was killed in a single-car accident on Tuesday evening. Emergency services were called to Lucas Road, Coolabunia, approximately two-and-a-half hours north-west of Brisbane, shortly before 7pm after reports a Daihatsu Applause had crashed into a tree. The teen driver and sole occupant was found dead at the scene.

Suspected hit and run leaves cyclist in critical condition on Gold Coast
A cyclist is in a critical condition after a suspected hit and run on a semi-rural road on the southern Gold Coast. Police are investigating the incident after they were called to an intersection in Tallebudgera at about 6am. A police spokesperson said a passing motorist found the man unconscious and called triple-0. "Officers attended the scene where they located the man suffering critical injuries," the spokesperson said. "Initial investigations suggest the cyclist was hit by a vehicle. "Investigations continue to locate the driver of that vehicle." The Queensland Ambulance Service said the cyclist was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a "life-threatening condition". The intersection at Dungogie Drive and Tallebudgera Connection Road remains closed as the Forensic Crash Unit investigates the incident.

Driver killed as car and truck collide on Bruce Highway in Rungoo, Queensland
A man has died in a collision involving a truck on a major highway. About midday on Sunday a grey Holden sedan and a Scania G450 truck crashed on the Bruce Hwy near the Mullers Conn Range Track in Rungoo, about 130km north of Townsville in Queensland. The driver of the Holden died at the scene, while the 59-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries. 'Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances of the crash,' police said. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any relevant dashcam or CCTV video footage has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Motorbike rider dies after crash with ute in Queensland's Bundaberg region
A motorbike rider has tragically lost his life after a crash in Queensland's southeast. The 50-year-old man from Bucca was riding his 2010 Harley-Davidson motorbike across the Burnett River Bridge, near Cedar Rd in South Bingera, when his bike collided with a 2019 Holden Colorado about 9.50am on Saturday. The rider died at the scene. The 55-year-old male driver and the 47-year-old female passenger of the ute, both from Blackwater, were not injured but were taken to Bundaberg Hospital as a precaution. Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.

Tragedy as 12-year-old girl 'with vibrant spirit' dies following horror e-scooter crash
Summah Richards, aged 12, tragically died in Laidley, Queensland, after she fell in front of a car while riding an e-scooter and tributes have been paid to a "remarkable young girl" A 12-year-old girl 'whose bright energy was boundless' has tragically died in an e-scooter crash with a car. Summah Richards is understood to have fallen into the path of a car in the town of Laidley, Queensland around 3pm last Saturday. Police are now investigating the tragedy and it said the incident happened on Vaux Street with the e-scooter appearing to fall into the path of a grey Holden Barina. Emergency services rushed to the scene but despite the best efforts of paramedics Summah was declared dead at the scene. Stacey Ardrey, the best friend of Summah's mother Teigan, has remembered Summah as 'a remarkable young girl with such a vibrant spirit'. 'Summah was the kind of soul who could light up any room simply by being in it,' she said in a fundraiser for the family. Her playful nature was contagious, always ready to laugh, and bring joy to those around her. 'Whether she was popping up from behind a corner which she did often and with a mischievous grin or throwing herself into an adventure with pure excitement, Summah's bright energy was boundless.' The youngster was only in the first year of high school but had ambitions of being a nurse one day. 'Her love wasn't just seen, it was felt. With her big brown eyes, full of wonder and kindness, she made everyone feel special,' continued Stacey on the GoFundMe page. 'She had a heart that cared deeply, always looking out for others with a tenderness beyond her years. Summah's ability to show love so freely and authentically left a lasting impact on all who were lucky enough to know her. "Her infectious smile and the warmth of her spirit will forever be remembered—she will always be the playful, loving soul who brought light into every room. "Summah sweet angel, you will forever be remembered and felt in our hearts. Your wild sense of humour will be missed but never forgotten. A mother's love will never end." The statement from Queensland Police on the tragedy read: "The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a 12-year-old girl died following a vehicle and e-scooter crash in Laidley this afternoon, April 19. "Initial investigations indicate that both vehicles were travelling south on Vaux Street and around 3pm the rider of the scooter has fallen into the path of a grey Holden Barina on Vaux Street. The rider of the scooter, a 12-year-old Laidley girl, was declared deceased at the scene. "The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not physically injured. The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances of the incident and are appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam/CCTV footage to come forward. Investigations are ongoing."
