Teenager dies in horrific car crash after hitting power pole

A man has died following a single-vehicle traffic crash in rural north Queensland.
Police allege that the crash happened after the silver Toyota Hilux left the road on Peak Downs Highway at Moranbah, about 194km west of Mackay about 11:30am on Friday.
Emergency services were called to a crash, at the scene, they arrived to find the Hilux had hit a power pole.
The passenger of the Hilux, an 18-year-old Balberra man, sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Hilux, an 18-year-old Beaconsfield man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Moranbah Hospital for assessment.
The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Witnesses told 7NEWS they were very concerned about the fire spreading but police and fire services responded quickly. 'It's a pretty scary thing at 2am in the morning,' a local resident said. 'It's usually pretty quiet around here so it is pretty strange.' The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a Woree address on the morning of August 11, police said. Violent assault over car sale leaves seller in Queensland with serious spinal injuries

A violent assault following a dispute over a car purchase has left man with serious spinal injuries after he was allegedly thrown from a first-floor veranda. Queensland Police said the incident unfolded around 1pm on August 9 in Staplyton, Gold Coast, when three people arrived at the man's property, reportedly in relation to the recent sale of a 2013 Nissan Pulsar. It will be alleged the group confronted the 52-year-old, demanding a refund, before tensions escalated and he was thrown from the veranda to the ground below. Police further allege the seller was assaulted again while on the ground, before the group fled the scene in a Volkswagen van. The victim sustained grievous bodily harm, including serious spinal injuries requiring surgery, police said. A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car. Police allege a road rage incident occurred between two drivers. One of a Holden Commodore and another of a Mazda Two, about 7.30pm at Mandew St overpass in Shailer Park, Queensland, on Saturday night. During the altercation, an unknown vehicle, travelling in an unknown direction struck the man in his 60s. He was taken to the hospital with serious but not critical injuries.
