Freddie Gibbs Disses DJ Akademiks And Calls Gunna A 'Rat' On New Album

Freddie Gibbs has never been the one to shy away from sending shots at his opponents, and today (July 25), he provided Hip-Hop fans with another round. The Gary, Indiana, rapper dropped off his brand new project, Alfredo 2 with The Alchemist, and took aim at Gunna and DJ Akademiks on 'Lavish Habits.' On the track, he leaves no room for assumptions as he name-drops his longtime foe and makes fun of his weight. 'First-class Virgin Atlantic, stewardess' t*tties plastic/ I'm still gon' squeeze Akademiks t*tties, that fat b*stard,' he spits on the mellow instrumental. He then directed his attention towards Gunna, referencing the Atlanta hitmaker's run-in with the government in 2023 due to the highly publicized YSL RICO trial. 'Gunna dissed me and took a plea, he a rat b*stard,' Gibbs raps. Listen below. This is certainly not the first time Gibbs and Ak butted heads, as their beef kicked off five years ago when the latter called the former 'irrelevant' in June 2020. The 'Scottie Beam' spitter threatened the host and their rift continued to spiral for years to come. He has a history with Gunna as well. The 'fukumean' artist rapped on his ‎2022 track 'poochie gown': I can't f**k with Freddie Gibbs (No)/ N**gas tellin' fibs (Fibs).' That same year, he also tweeted: 'When my album drop Freddie Gibbs will the biggest moment of his career.' Alfredo 2 is a follow-up to its first iteration that made landfall in 2020. The new LP boasts guest appearances from Larry June, J.I.D., and Anderson .Paak, and was led by single '1995.' He gifted fans with a short film, Alfredo: The Movie directed by Nick Walker, to go along with the project. Watch it above. Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist announce sequel album 'Alfredo 2'

Freddie Gibbs and renowned producer The Alchemist have officially announced their next collaborative album, Alfredo 2, a direct sequel to their acclaimed 2020 project Alfredo. The announcement has ignited widespread anticipation across hip-hop circles, with many fans expressing excitement and speculation about whether the new project will match or surpass the original's critical success. Alfredo, which earned a Grammy nomination and widespread acclaim for its lyrical depth and lush production, helped solidify both Gibbs and The Alchemist as one of hip-hop's strongest rapper-producer duos. With Alfredo 2, expectations are high for a similarly impactful release. Early social media reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with fans praising the chemistry between Gibbs and The Alchemist and highlighting their consistent output over the years. Some fans also noted a renewed appreciation for The Alchemist's versatility and distinctive sound following the album announcement. While a specific release date for Alfredo 2 has not been confirmed, the project is expected to drop sometime in 2025. The album will likely feature a blend of gritty lyricism, soulful samples, and minimalistic but hard-hitting beats—hallmarks of the pair's earlier work. As more details emerge, fans and critics alike are watching closely to see how Alfredo 2 will contribute to the duo's evolving legacy in modern hip-hop.

Smash-and-grab burglars crash car into famous Fairfax sneaker shop

A suspect drove a car into the storefront of a popular sneaker shop on Fairfax Avenue early Friday morning and made off with stolen goods, police confirmed. The incident was reported at about 5 a.m. on the 400 block of North Fairfax , according to the Los Angeles Police Department. When officers arrived, they found a blue Toyota Camry that was driven into the front of Solestage, a high-end streetwear and sneaker shop. The suspects fled on foot and were yet to be located as of 7:40 a.m. Police said that items were taken, although it's not yet clear how many and what the estimated value is of the stolen goods. Images captured by KTLA on Friday morning showed the Camry inside the shop with broken glass on the ground. Solestage is well known for being among the shops used in the popular 'Sneaker Shopping' webseries by Complex. The series follows celebrities browsing stores and picking out their long-sought-after sneakers. Recent guests who shopped at Solestage on the show include Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James, rapper Freddie Gibbs, WNBA star Angel Reese and actor Samuel L. Jackson. Drake accused of ripping off new album art from Freddie Gibbs

Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR have been accused of using 'stolen' elements on their new collaborative album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. The day before the album's Friday release, the Candian duo teased the tracklist on social media. In the graphic, three cartoon bunny rabbits are pictured at the bottom left of the list of songs. Both the dollar signs used in the album name and the bunny rabbits are popular symbols associated with fellow rapper and songwriter Freddie Gibbs, who has since claimed the two 'stole' his signature branding. 'Damn they even stole the rabbits too. I'm flattered,' tweeted Gibbs. The '1985' rapper also reshared several other posts from fans, who have called out the similarities between Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR's artwork to Gibbs' 2022 album $ouls $old $eperately, which features a cartoon rabbit on the album cover. 'We know this bald n***a @FreddieGibbs did it first,' one person commented. 'Freddie Gibbs the art director over there?' a second quipped. 'Using the $$$ and rabbit from @FreddieGibbs is nasty work,' a third added. 'I forgot Freddie Gibbs be using the bunny with dollar signs a lot for his stuff. Yeah, Drake and PND just straight up copied that lmfao,' another declared. We all know @FreddieGibbs use the $$$ and 🐰rabbit first — TJACK (@tylerkj24) February 13, 2025 The Independent has contacted Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR's representatives for comment. Out now, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U includes a song titled 'Gimme a Hug,' on which Drake takes aim at his past rap feuds. 'F*** a rap beef, I'm tryna get the party lit / Tryna get the party lit for the b****es,' the 'God's Plan' artist raps in the second verse, seemingly in reference to his ongoing beef with Kendrick Lamar, who 'finished' him with his Sunday Super Bowl performance of hit diss track 'Not Like Us.' At another point in the song, Drake appears to take direct shots at rapper and presenter Budden. 'Melyssa Ford, you a legend from The 6 hate to see you with a dick sucker,' he sings about Budden's podcast co-host. Budden has not immediately responded to The Independent's request for comment. Earlier this week, Drake trolled Budden from his incognito Instagram account, posting a video of Budden walking and smoking alongside the caption: '$$$HITTING MEEEEEE.' Budden later responded on a recent episode of his self-titled Joe Budden podcast, saying: 'Hey, Drake, don't shoot at me mad that you ice cold. I'm not doing a back-and-forth with a corpse. I wanted to do it when it was fun.'
