FRISCO, Texas - An 8-year-old from Frisco is recovering from injuries after a coyote attack on Monday, officials say. The Frisco Police Department's Wednesday release says the attack happened while the child was walking with her mother in a Frisco neighborhood. What we know The attack happened around 4:05 p.m. in the Lexington Park community near Lacy Lane and Tall Timbers Trail, the PD said in their release. They say the child was walking ahead of her mother when she was attacked by the coyote. The 8-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the city said, including scratches and a bite. The mother was able to chase the animal away. Following the attack, Frisco Animal Services and representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture's Texas Wildlife Services Program were able to find and remove three coyotes from the neighborhood, Frisco PD said. The coyotes have been sent for testing. What we don't know The release does not say whether the coyote is suspected to have been carrying a disease. What you can do The PD's release includes recommendations on how to handle an interaction with an aggressive coyote: While walking or jogging, consider carrying something that makes a loud noise to scare off an animal, such as an airhorn or whistle. If you walk small animals, ensure they are on a leash. Do not allow domesticated animals to roam freely outdoors. Do not approach or feed wildlife and keep trash in a secure container. Anyone who observes what appears to be an aggressive animal should contact the Frisco Police Department at (972) 292-6010 or call 911. Texas teen Karmelo Anthony set to graduate from high school while facing Austin Metcalf murder charge — after agreement with school

Suspected teen killer Karmelo Anthony will graduate from his Texas high school despite missing the last month and a half of classes as he faces a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf. Anthony's parents and an activist group vocal in supporting the accused murderer played prominent roles negotiating for the teen to receive his diploma from Frisco's Centennial High School while under house arrest, WFAA reported. Next Generation Action Network, the controversial group backing Anthony's legal troubles, announced the teen's high school achievement after his parents met with officials in the Frisco Independent School District. Pardoned January 6 defendant organized Frisco stabbing protest

FRISCO – In the wake of a fatal Frisco high school stabbing, people far from Texas have amplified the story on social media, often injecting misinformation to push false narratives. This misinformation has come from individuals claiming to support Austin Metcalf, as well as those claiming to support Karmelo Anthony, despite having no connection to the families or the community. This week, a flyer has been circulating online to promote a protest. The flyer uses a picture of Metcalf with the banner reading "Protect White Americans." The organizer of the protest, according to the flyer, is Jake Lang. Lang was charged with attacking police at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. He was pardoned earlier this year by President Donald Trump. Lang is now running for U.S. Senate in Florida. The flyer has been shared by dozens of high-profile social media accounts, with one post on X receiving 5.3 million views. The initial flyer misspelled "Friso" and got the name of a local high school wrong, "Wakefield," while also incorrectly claiming this is where the stabbing took place. The stabbing took place at a track meet at Kuykendall Stadium. The latest version of the flyer now shows a new location for the protest. The Frisco Police Department said it is aware of the scheduled protest and put out a statement on social media yesterday saying, "Officers will be on-hand to ensure the safety of the public while allowing protestors to exercise their 1st Amendment rights in a peaceful manner." The day after the fatal stabbing, the father of Austin Metcalf pleaded on national television for his family's tragedy not to be turned into a race or political issue. Jeff Metcalf said on Fox News on April 3rd, "I want to clarify something right off the start because I've already heard some rumors and gossip. This was not a race thing. This was not a political thing."

Slain Texas teen Austin Metcalf's home swatted hours after tense press conference showdown

Jeff Metcalf, the father of slain Frisco, Texas, track star Austin Metcalf, told Fox News Digital his home was swatted Thursday night. "I can confirm that last night our officers responded to a gunshot call in the 8000 block of Hickory Street involving the Metcalf family, which turned out to be swatting," the Frisco Police Department (FPD) confirmed. It happened a few hours after an incendiary press conference hosted by the spokesman for the family of Metcalf's alleged killer, Karmelo Anthony. Anthony is charged with murdering Metcalf after the two 17-year-olds got into a dispute under a tent at a high school track meet April 2. Anthony allegedly stabbed Metcalf, who died in his twin brother's arms. Mourning Mother, Twin Brother Of Slain Texas Teen Speak Out: 'Lost My Best Friend In The Blink Of An Eye' Swatting is when a 911 call is made, usually to report a fake violent crime, to get police and sometimes even SWAT teams, to respond to the address given by the caller. It has increasingly been used as an intimidation tactic to target high-profile individuals and political rivals. Read On The Fox News App Thursday's press conference was scheduled after Anthony was released from the Collin County Jail Monday when his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000. The controversial decision led to questions about how hundreds of thousands of dollars raised for the Anthony family online were being spent. Jeff Metcalf attended the press conference, which quickly devolved into chaos after Dominique Alexander, head of the activist group Next Generation Action Network retained to speak on behalf of the Anthony family, criticized Metcalf's presence there at the outset of the event. "What we've seen at the beginning of this press conference, of the father being at this press conference, these are my words — don't quote anybody — is a disrespect to the dignity of his son," Alexander said. Metcalf arrived at the press conference at its scheduled start time but was threatened with criminal charges if he did not leave. He left with a police escort from the Dallas Police Department. "Next Generation Action Network from the beginning has respected the loss of life, no matter our opinion of it. We have kept our opinion close," Alexander said. "We have not attacked. We have not shared the information that was shared with us about Austin Metcalf because we respect the dignity of life and loss." Alexander later brought race into the discussion. Grieving Texas Father Speaks Out After Son Was Stabbed To Death At High School Track Meet "What [Jeff Metcalf] has felled [sic] into is the political operatives that want to make this thing a political thing of hate and yet bigotry and yet racism," he said. "We have conservative operatives that have been posting nonstop about this case." Those comments largely overshadowed the purpose of the press conference, which was to set the record straight on how more than $475,000 from a GiveSendGo fundraiser raised for the Anthony family will be spent. Alexander said none of the money has been spent, and Anthony's mother, Karla Hayes, whose reading of a statement prepared by the family attorney was also supposed to be a focus of the conference, confirmed that. "Our family has been under attack," she said. "Whatever you think, what happened between Karmelo and the Metcalf boy, my three younger children, my husband and I didn't do anything to deserve to be threatened, harassed and lied about. "Our address and my husband's previous employer's address has been put on all social media platforms. My husband had to take a leave of absence because he's afraid of what may happen to our family." Alexander later called Anthony's opponents bigots. "Because these racist bigots try to prevent us from standing up for our baby, our boy, he should be afforded the same rights that Kyle Rittenhouse had, Daniel Penny and all the people who have claimed whatever their defense was. He should be afforded the same right," Alexander said. Texas Track Meet Stabbing Suspect Told Responding Officers He 'Did It': Docs "Nobody in the public media has one video, but we got the video of Kyle Rittenhouse with an AK-47 shooting three people in the back," he said. "We got that, and he raised more than $2 million publicly, and nobody said anything about that." Fox News Digital reached out to Alexander. Metcalf has tried to tone down the political rhetoric since the April 2 stabbing. He previously told Fox News, "I want to clarify something right off to start because I've already heard some rumors and gossip. This was not a race thing. This is not a political thing. "Do not politicize this. It's not … this is a human being thing. This person made a bad choice and affected both his family and my family forever."Original article source: Slain Texas teen Austin Metcalf's home swatted hours after tense press conference showdown
