Devotees throng Swarnala Cheruvu on first day of ‘Rottela Panduga'
Devotees from across the country and abroad thronged Swarnala Cheruvu near Bara Shaheed Dargah in Nellore on the first day of 'Rottela Panduga', on Sunday. Over 15 lakh devotees are expected to visit the world famous mosque during the five-day festival. Not only the people from Muslim community, but persons from other religions also come in large numbers to participate in this unique festival. The main ritual of this festival is to take a holy bath in the lake ghat and exchange 'roti' or bread. Keeping in mind the rush of devotees, the State government has made extensive arrangements including special tents, drinking water facilities, and free food in the premises to ensure that there is no inconvenience. The arrangements are being reviewed by District Collector O. Anand and Superintendent of Police (SP) G. Krishnakanth to ensure that the festival is conducted peacefully. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the main aim is to satisfy the devotees who come from far off places. Later, he directed the officials to take precautions in the queue lines so that darshan shall be done quickly. Meanwhile, the municipal and sanitation workers are working tirelessly to provide a clean environment in the surroundings of the lake ghat, showers, and toilets. The police command control room has played a key role in handing over the missing children, elderly people and women to their family members.

Nellore police recover mobile phones worth ₹1 crore
SPSR Nellore police recovered around 1,000 stolen and lost mobile phones worth over ₹1 crore. Superintendent of Police (SP) G. Krishnakanth handed over the recovered mobile phones to their owners at Umesh Chandra Memorial Conference Hall in the city on Friday. ''Mobile Hunt' mobile app continues to perform well and is gaining public trust. So far, 3,900 mobile phones worth ₹4 crore have been handed over to the owners,' he said. Using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, 60 mobile phones, worth ₹6 lakh, have been returned to the owners, the SP said, advising the public not to buy second-hand or unbilled mobile phones. People who have lost their mobile phones should send a message with their number via WhatsApp to 9154305600 or report on the CEIR portal. Immediately, they will get a Google Form link, which should be filled and submitted to the police, he said. As soon as the mobile phone is traced, the CEIR portal will send an SMS to the nearest police station. This will help recover the mobile phone. Once the mobile is found, the police will return it to the owner.

Hundreds of students take part in anti-drug awareness rallies at Nellore, Ongole
On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, SPSR Nellore and Prakasam district administrations organised several rallies and awareness programmes in Nellore and Ongole respectively on Thursday. In Nellore, a rally was conducted from RTC Bus Stand to Kasturbha Kalakshetram, which was followed by a human chain formation at KVR Circle. A meeting was held later at Kasturba Kalakshetram. The events were hosted as per the directions from the State government to create awareness against drug abuse. Along with 600 students, Superintendent of Police (SP) G. Krishnakanth, Joint Collector K. Karthik and several officials participated in the programme. Meanwhile in Ongole, an awareness programme was organised at the Police Parade Grounds, from where a rally was conducted till Addanki Bus Stand Centre. Over 1,000 people, including students, self-help group (SHG) women, ASHA workers, anganwadi staff, other employees, and people participated in this rally. Prakasam SP A.R. Damodar encouraged the participants to scan a QR code created as part of the 'Nisha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' programme and enter their name and other details to avail a certificate of participation in the anti-drug campaign.
