‘Green Bones' donates set props to Manila City Jail

'Green Bones,' starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, has donated its props and set pieces to the Manila City Jail. On Monday, GMA Pictures shared a video on social media of the Manila City Jail Male Dorm featuring some of the props used in the film, such as wooden bunk beds, tables, and chairs that will now be used by persons deprived of liberty (PDLs). According to SJ01 Melchor Sevellino, the PDLs in the dorm are all senior citizens. 'From reel to real life,' the caption read. Previously, the Manila City Jail held a special screening of 'Green Bones.' The film, produced by GMA Pictures, is directed by Zig Dulay based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs. It follows Domingo Zamora (Dennis Trillo), who is notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard (Ruru Madrid) takes a personal interest in making sure that he remains behind bars no matter what. On Sunday night, "Green Bones" took home five awards at the 8th Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards (EDDYS Awards), which include: Best Picture, Best Actor for Dennis, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru, Best Director for Dulay, and Best Cinematography for Neil Daza. It also bagged several awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024, such as Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Angeli Atienza), Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), Best Cinematography (Neil), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens). Moreover, it won First Best Picture, Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), and Best Director (Direk Zig) at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards. 'Beauty Empire' is officially the no. 1 show on Viu Philippines! GMA Public Affairs announced on social media that the series officially took the top spot on the streaming service on the week it premiered on GMA Prime on July 7. Directed by Mark Dela Cruz, 'Beauty Empire' dives deep into the rivalries and high-stakes drama among powerful women as they navigate the beauty industry driven by ambition, revenge, and power. The show stars Barbie Forteza, Kyline Alcantara, Sid Lucero, Sam Concepcion, Chai Fonacier, Ruffa Gutierrez, Gloria Diaz, and South Korean actor Choi Bo Min. Choi Bo Min and Kyline Alcantara just serenaded the "All-Out Sundays" viewers with a heartfelt duo song! The "Beauty Empire" stars shared the AOS stage together and had a kilig performance of Bo Min's debut Tagalog single "Nakaraang Buhay." In "Beauty Empire," Bo Min plays the role of Alex, while Kyline is Shari De Jesus. Aside from Bo Min and Kyline, "Beauty Empire" also stars Barbie Forteza as Noreen, Ruffa Gutierrez, Sid Lucero, and Gloria Diaz among others. Produced by GMA Public Affairs and based on an original concept by CreaZion Studios, "Beauty Empire" dives deep into the intense rivalries and high-stakes drama among powerful women as they navigate the beauty industry driven by ambition, revenge, and power. The story will follow the life of Noreen (Barbie), a rags-to-riches beauty entrepreneur who is out to tear down the empire that her enemies have built. She goes head-to-head against Shari, a crass but social media-famous beauty CEO who is mentored by Velma Imperial (Ruffa), Noreen's idol and a powerful industry veteran whose ties to her go beyond business. "Green Bones" has been nominated for nine awards at The Entertainment Editors' Choice (The Eddys) Awards by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), GMA Pictures announced Tuesday. The film garnered nominations for Best Picture, Best Director for Zig Dulay, and Best Screenplay for Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza. "Green Bones" stars Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid were also nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. The film was likewise nominated for Best Cinematography for Neil Daza, Best Production Design for Maolen Fadul, Best Editing for Benjamin Tolentino, and Best Musical Score for Len Calvo. Even more, GMA Pictures shared the good news that they were named Producer of the Year by the award-giving body for their "contributions to Philippine cinema over the past year." "Green Bones," produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, is directed by Direk Zig based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs. Barbie Forteza can't help but get jumpscared as she dubs 'P77'

Even Barbie Forteza isn't immune to the jumpscares of her upcoming horror movie, 'P77.' The Kapuso Primetime Princess shared an Instagram Reel of her dubbing session for the movie. In one clip, Barbie is into her character while dubbing, but then she starts giggling. 'Ang hirap mag-dub ng horror,' she said. 'Nagugulat ako.' Then while watching a scene, Barbie visibly gets surprised and moves her head back, then laughs out loud at herself. 'Ang hirap magfocus sa voice dubbing, nauuna yung gulat at takot e,' Barbie wrote in her caption. In "P77," which stands for Penthouse 77, Barbie stars as Luna Caceres, a young woman who takes on a cleaning job inside a mysterious penthouse. Adding to the mystery of the film is Luna's mother, Natalia, who has gone missing. The film will also star Euwenn Mikaell, Gina Pareño, and Jackie Lou Blanco. It is directed by Derick Cabrido, the filmmaker behind Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 entry "Mallari," and written by Enrico Santos, based on an original concept by Anj Atienza and Xtian Julao. It is produced by GMA Pictures, GMA Public Affairs, and Clever Minds Inc. "P77" will be distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines. The film will premiere in cinemas on July 30.
