'Green Bones' garners 9 nominations at The Eddys Awards 2025

"Green Bones" has been nominated for nine awards at The Entertainment Editors' Choice (The Eddys) Awards by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), GMA Pictures announced Tuesday.
The film garnered nominations for Best Picture, Best Director for Zig Dulay, and Best Screenplay for Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza.
"Green Bones" stars Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid were also nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively.
The film was likewise nominated for Best Cinematography for Neil Daza, Best Production Design for Maolen Fadul, Best Editing for Benjamin Tolentino, and Best Musical Score for Len Calvo.
Even more, GMA Pictures shared the good news that they were named Producer of the Year by the award-giving body for their "contributions to Philippine cinema over the past year."
"Green Bones," produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, is directed by Direk Zig based on an original story by JC Rubio, senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs.
It is about Domingo Zamora (Dennis), a man notorious for the murder of his sister and her daughter. Now that Domingo is up for parole, the newly assigned prison guard Xavier Gonzaga (Ruru) takes a personal interest in ensuring Domingo remains imprisoned no matter the cost.
"Green Bones" bagged several awards at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 last December, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Ricky Lee and MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Angeli Atienza), Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), Best Cinematography (Neil Daza), and Best Child Performer (Sienna Stevens).
Meanwhile, at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards, it won First Best Picture, Best Actor (Dennis), Best Supporting Actor (Ruru), and Best Director (Direk Zig)

Barbie Forteza's performance in "P77" has been getting rave reviews from viewers and critics alike. The film is her first solo lead role in the horror genre, and the Kapuso Primetime Princess showed why she's one of the best actresses of her generation. On the sidelines of the GMA Gala 2025, Barbie told GMA News Online that she wants to do more horror projects in the future. "It's my favorite genre to watch and it's such a joy na ako 'yung pinapanood ko sa genre na gusto ko," she said. Barbie said her heart is full after seeing all the praise for "P77." "We did the movie a year ago and now we're just so overwhelmed with all the good reviews the film has been receiving," she said. "It's such a wonderful film, I hope more people get to watch it, more people get to see it. There's a lot of life lessons, realizations, in the guise of horror, of course," she added. Barbie stars in the film as Luna Caceres, who takes up a cleaning job in a mysterious penthouse. Other cast members include Euwenn Mikaell, Gina Pareño, JC Alcantara, Jackie Lou Blanco, Carlos Siguion-Reyna, and more. P77 is directed by Derrick Cabrido and produced by GMA Pictures. It is still showing in cinemas nationwide.
